I have the original, larger Dundee. It's been just stellar. One of my favorite purchases in the past year.
I was thinking the same thing man. I love it! Not in love with D2 but I can forgive that with everything else so damn good
I love D2 and don't care for sanvic steel at all. I've had and constantly used my D2 knives dail for over 4 decades, even getting them wet daily. I just wipe it dry and put it in my pocket and never had a problem at all.

I agree with your assessment except I have no problem with D2. I got mine as a freebie when I bought a more expensive knife from Blade HQ. I didn't expect much since it was free but I like to carry it now because it's just the right size, it feels perfect in my hand and the pocket clip is such that it's easy to remove from my pocket.
I got one of these for Christmas! The action is extremely smooth and right out of the box too! Highly recommend it!
With that blade being double beveled at the tip makes me wonder how a tanto would be on it
I can't imagine jimping done better than spyderco, but I'd love to find something superior! This might be it. Thanks for mentioning that aspect.

You say Bestech heat treatments are solid to great. I recently picked up a Swordfish in Maganacut. The price was well under $100. It is hard to believe that the heat treatment can be so good at such a good price. How do they do it?
I got a GoodBoy for free from BladeHQ and was really surprised that it had a smoother function than $300 knives in my collection

Meanwhile Benchmade is selling $200 knives in D2. Everybody has their own preferences. However, this review alone sold me on the Goodboy. Got the purple g10 on the way, cant wait to play with it!

The gimping done on an EDM would make the most sense if they were cutting the whole blank out that way. It could also have been done on a milling machine with a Slitter mill cutter. Even done with a gang tool that has as many cutters as slots required. My guess is EDM. :)

I like the model, just leery of having D2 in SE US climate.

Demko 20.5 in D2 made in Taiwan is selling for $130.... D2 just keeps going up in price. Cause people buy it !

So many buttons or safety release or triggers are tough to use for left handers.
How can you prefer 14c to d2? D2 has much better edge retention and if you're using a knife like a knife. It isn't going to chip or break. If you want a hard use knife. Get a fixed blade
In a folding knife, the main feature I'm concerned with is edge retention, but I'm not going to use my pocket knife like a prybar, nor a screwdriver and definitely not an axe. So I don't need the toughness that I want in a fixed blade. Nor am I concerned with corrosion resistance. As it's kept on my person. If I get it wet. While using or after washing. Then I dry the damn thing. I have quite a few pocket knives. With blades made from D2 and not a single one has rusted..
I guess i am curious what yall do with a pocket knife. That you'd sacrifice edge retention. For corrosion resistance or toughness
that spine to handle transition (or lack thereof) is a huuuge L. Not only does it look ugly but it really screws the ergos.
