Why don't they have a person stand at the top of the hill, and another person stand 7 miles away. Then when the light appears, ask the person at the top of the hill "is there a car there?" If there is, than it is a car. If there is no car there, but still a light, than it's not car headlights. Simple.

+Sage Adams they did it on tv show fact or faked paranormal files. people on the hill couldn't see anything even tho others were seeing the light back at the spot

+Sage Adams They've already done that. They had people go to the stretch of highway where they suspected the lights were coming from, and every time a car passed IN EITHER DIRECTION, they documented the exact time. Meanwhile, a group stayed at the spot where all these idiots have been making these stupid claims for years, and they too, would document the exact time each & every time "they saw the light" and "what color".......white or red. ( Head lights & tail lights ). And sure enough, THEY ALL MATCHED UP PERFECTLY IN REGARD TO THE EXACT TIME. People insist on being so incredibly stupid. I just saw another video about this bullshit, and it was the very first time I've ever heard of this place. And even as I was watching that video, I myself could easily tell it was only cars heading in both directions far off in the distance. Sheeesh.

Mhhhh, it seems, this light is reportet since ~1900.
Perhaps these phenomenon are often misinterpreted cars. But since 1900?
Observe the light from several places, to Cross bearing the position.
And perhaps use aditional drones with cams for a view from above.
You could see the exact place of the light from above.
And in the forest of Brieselang there are close encounters with a light of this kind (Brieselang Forest Light).
Many misinterpreted car headlights through the trees, but also close encounters.

We just did that exact same thing. We turned around at Sleepy Hollow road, friends at the viewing area said they our lights. We flashed our high beams, they said they could see it flashing. Seriously, it took 15 minutes to prove this. They're headlights. Nothing else.

I grew up in this area and went there countless times. I was totally confident that the "light" that I saw there on many occasions was simply headlights/taillights, and it was spectacularly undramatic every time I had ever gone. I still do think that what most people see when they go there is exactly that -- its typically a dancing white or red light that appears far in the distance, but try as you might, when you try to reach it you can't. Even more often you don't see anything at all. It really isn't that cool at all, and it's pretty obvious it's headlights when you look at it for a while. However, when I was 16 (I'm in my late 20s now) I went there with 4 friends on a cold January night in 2010 or 2011 (sub 0 F temps). You have to drive pretty far to get there and I remember being a little concerned when my friend turned off the engine because his car was old, it was late at night, and I wasn't sure it would start back up again. We sat there in the darkness for a little while just chatting/joking/not expecting to see anything when suddenly a large basketball-sized (or larger) orb of extremely bright white light appeared just beyond the guard rail on the right side of the road about 20-30 feet in the air off of that small hill (about 25 feet in front of our parked car). Around where the power line is - but I'm not sure if it was coming directly from the power line. It didn't have anything connecting it to the line for sure. We had no idea what it was and it scared everyone pretty intensely. What I know for sure is that this thing that I saw that night was not car headlights. It was terrifying. We fired up the car and peeled out of there as quickly as possible. Had this happened in the summer I probably would have written it off as some bored teenager hiding in the woods with a crazy spotlight trying to scare people, but it was a dangerously cold night in January, so I don't believe that a person was responsible. Now it seems like the best explanation of my experience was that it was a ball lightning or something to do with the power lines. I'll never forget the experience and at the time I was almost sure it was otherworldly -- it was probably just some super rare phenomenon. While I totally understand why/how the researchers at Michigan Tech came to the conclusion they did, I do find their mocking tone a bit naive. I'm pretty sure there is a scientific explanation for what I saw, but these guys were very quick to write off ALL of the phenomena observed there as one thing (car headlights), when I'm certain more is going on.

Go there almost every other year when we go on vacation. Most recent time was the most eventful. Our Nearly brand new Jeep would not turn back on after we wanted to leave because the light wasn’t around at all..after 5 minutes of trying to figure out what was wrong with the car it turned on by itself alarms going off at all. At that exact moment, the light appeared brighter than I’ve ever seen it. I turned the Jeep back off and It danced and at one point I swear I saw the bottom half of a shadow walking. The legs looked like they had striped reflectors on them like a construction worker would..went on for about 3 minutes. Most insane night that night. It was 2am. Just me and my brother in law and it was late September.

I honestly don't know what it is, but the time I went and seen it I honestly don't believe for one second it was car head lights. The light I seen was tiny then got super bright and ran along the power lines and almost looked like lightning. Whatever it was I don't believe it was car head lights...

I brought a telescope to the Spaulding light about 10 years ago and saw car headlights and tail lights.. I was a little disappointed, but almost as if something wanted to broaden the mystery for me, as I lifted my eye from the telescope I was facing the tall pine trees to the left and about 20-30 ft from me was a very bright beach ball size "orb" reddish orange in color. This was in early July and there were approx. 40 people at the viewing site looking at the "headlight lights" as I call them.. I frantically murmured and grabbed the person next to me and just as everyone turned to look this "orb" shot up to the top of the 50 ft pine trees and then flew over them, at a right angle.. up then over, and very fast... I was astonished! I'm so happy I was able to get everyone's attention... since they were all preoccupied looking at the "headlights". So my advice to anyone going to the paulding light.. look around, don't just Starr at the headlights
. There is something mysterious there and the headlights are a distraction

    • @masonarcher2998

Yup. That sounds more like the light we saw when I was a kid. It wasn't just some static, slightly moving light, it was very erratic and not predictable. I still remember being in the car (while driving) and still being able to watch the light even as we were moving. People commenting on youtube really can't say either way honestly as they have never been there. The lights in this video are not the mystery light I saw as a kid, they aren't even in the same place.

A couple years ago i met someone out in watermeets Michigan on tinder who took me out to see this paulding light. me being from chicago Illinois didnt think much of it. honestly i thought she wanted to just kill me in the woods or something. the times that I've gone to this little town has always given me bad vibes. well long story short it was nothing like I've ever seen. she sat in the passenger seat as i drove towards the light. her side of the window was not operational at all. i could never get that window to go down myself. anyways as we got closer the light got brighter and her window started rolling down on its own lmfao we were so freaked out. once we closer to the end of the road the lights just vanish. Tons of cars parked infront of us watching what we saw. definitely something mysterious going on. will never forget the experience.

Why wasn't there a matching set-up from the other end? In the winter, where they are is a seasonal road, and doesn't get plowed. You can sit at the other end and see the light when it's not possible to get cars on the dead end. It's a good try on an experiment, but it's only half done. I was a disbeliever for a long time before I actually saw it myself and the first time was in January with about 4 1/2 ft. of snow on the ground looking towards where they are posted with the telescope.

A bright white light started on the far side and made its way down the clearing over the course of a minute or two. It came all the way to where we stood, about 15 feet off the ground and hovered there, silently. We were scared shitless and everyone backed away. After about 30 seconds, it dimmed and quickly returned to the far side, didn't see it again that night or the two times I've been back since.

I have spent many dusks, nights, and dawns at this location, and I agree what they are seeing are car head/tail lights, but I have also seen "The" paulding light and it has came up to approximately 20 feet from where I was. It lit up the 1st creek from rail. The last time I've seen it was 2005 it was alternating bright green to blue to white. It sways from one side of the trail to the other, and illuminates the treeline so you can see the branches. I have also seen it go far above the treeline.

Once a year on average to be exact. and there was one instance where I was alone with my lady inside my car. When we saw the light, I had never seen it so bright in my life. The light looked as if it was no more than 50 yards away at one point. It looked like somebody was holding a lantern walking towards us and the lantern was swaying left and right as we if somebody was carrying it. At that moment for the first time, I was actually scared of the light. Ive seen it so many times but that that time, i felt its super naturalness.

Lengthy post here, but also a possibly new theory for everyone to mull over.
Coming from Central Wisconsin, I drove 5 hours round-trip on two consecutive nights in 1998 to see the Paulding Light. I'd never heard of it before that, and though I had little faith I'd see anything, I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed.
The other gentleman mentioned at the start of this video that was studying mysteries of the Upper Peninsula got me thinking a bit abstractly: Northern Wisconsin bordering on the UP has in recent years become relatively well-known in cryptid circles for Sasquatch sightings. If you're able to get past that, proceed to the next paragraph.
A lot of heated debate within the cryptid community has recently centered on a theory that suggests these creatures may be inter-dimensional. This concept has been used as a possible explanation for how Sasquatch People are able to disappear so completely, how they can seemingly observe researchers out in the woods at close range without revealing their presence visually, and how they even seem to vanish on-the-spot from FLIR thermal cameras. The concept of people or creatures accessing a higher dimension just outside the capacity for humans to perceive them by modifying their "vibration" is not new or even limited to the "Bigfoot" phenomenon, but there is one other interesting parallel to the border area: it has been reported that declassified information has been released to the public that the US Government actually tested the effects of "infrasound" on the area around the Chequamegon State Forest decades ago.
The aspect of this that I find personally fascinating and led me to write this comment is the frequency of luminous lights or "orbs" that seem to be connected with this theory. The most impressive instance that's been reported was from a research group in the Pacific Northwest (the "home" of the Bigfoot phenomenon). This group had the benefit of using technology developed for the military at their disposal and one of these drones was allegedly able to not only detect life-forms within a heavily-canopied forest, but could also specify how many and (most difficult to believe) the animals' species as well.
While employing this tech with the assistance of one or two of the drone's developers on site to analyze the data, the technology reported a high number of simians (yes, simians in the Pacific Northwest) within a mile of where they were stationed. Having rushed to the spot where the drone detected the creatures, there were no other life-forms present but they _did_ manage to collect video evidence of these "light orbs" moving down a vast hillside away from them. It's necessary to mention that not all of the researchers present had any belief in the "inter-dimensional Sasquatch" theory, but they were baffled nonetheless.
I know the Paulding Light has been explained with several theories by countless researchers from Universities and the paranormal television shows so popular lately, but I've never seen anyone raise the question of it being associated with the other possible cryptid phenomena of the area (possibly because it does require a trip down a rabbit hole, perhaps LSD flashbacks from one's youth, and the inevitable social stigma that comes free-of-charge). If anyone _has_ seen references to it, I'd be grateful if you'd pass along any links you may have, or share any stories you may have heard. I'd be most interested to know if the Paulding Light still appears most nights as my experience with it is nearing 25 years ago and I've heard differing responses as to whether it's still seen.
For all I've laid out here, I should admit that I do question whether it _needs_ explanation. When we convincingly debunk such things we lose a little more of the magic in our world....and that is in desperately short supply nowadays.

Also, the light we saw was slightly left of the road if you were looking straight down the road. Also, what other people said is consistent with what I saw which was it turning red, green, and orange. Also, like others said, it seemed to move. I remember how shocked we were when we were driving away, the light seemed to stay in the same position almost like the sun does. This video doesn't seem like the light at all.

PEP Didn't discover the light came from 2 miles away, or really anything else (they do try to state that car headlights cant even be seen for a mile, which is funny). But I still suggest going to the PEP vid, its hilarious.

OK. I got a question. So has anyone gone up to the highway in the exact spot where the cars are seen from the observation area and looked back and recorded the observation area. This would be a good way to show proof, wouldn't you think. I have been through most of the videos and have yet to come across one that shows this. Would be nice to see. If the lights can be seen from the observation area to the highway, then shouldn't it work the other way around. I will be anxiously awaiting the video!

  • @burninbiomass

Yes, turbulence (or atmospheric refraction) is the reason the light twinkles and changes colors.
The reason the lights look brighter is that you are in deep pitch blackness at the end of that road. When in a car, your own headlights are on, and your pupils are more closed.
The movement from the light is from the autokinetic effect. Wiki has a nice article on it.

First of all, I learned the night sky at an early age and know it well...southern hemisphere too, although not as well as the northern one. Bottom line....I know my way around the sky and know it intimately. What I saw at my wife's place about 10 days ago has rattled me deep within my being and has almost left me obsessed with what I witnessed.
We have a home in southern Mendocino county in CA, a two story home on an acre of land. It is roughly 40% cleared with a mixture of trees, both deciduous and non deciduous. We were in our upstairs bedroom preparing for bed. This room is almost entirely glass with curtains we put up when the bright moon interferes with our sleep.
At about 11:00 we were prepping for bed on a moonless night and as we were about to climb into bed, I saw a bright 'globe' of lights hovering in the air about 50' away and right next to my wife's car. I tried to get my wife to look, but she thought I was wanting her to look up, said she couldn't as her neck was bothering her.
What I saw was a ball of 'lights' about 18" in diameter with a six foot or so tail, strung out beside her car. As I watched, the entire mass of lights gathered together into a 'ball about 18" in diameter, hovered for a bit beside the car, repositioned itself over the roof, then slowly moved down the roof, down the windshield, down the hood, down the grille and finally stopping in front of the license plate. There it hovered, completely blocking the license plate and off the ground. When I went to bed at 11:30, it was still there, but when I got up at 2, it was gone and I haven't seen anything since. BHE

I have been to this site 6 times since 1994. The lights always appear. They have come at times within about 500 ft and it was not tail lights. The red light would swing side to side and the white light would come and it had a yellow tint like a flame . The lens was round and stepped like old train lights . I'm not saying they are wrong , but they are measuring the lights 3 miles away up hill in Pauling MI which does line up. The lights I saw were much closer at times and lower which I could tell by other visual markers including the light shining on the power poles The Train supposedly was a logging train and there was a bridge across the creek per locals. who have seen these lights since the early 1950's Coordinates 46 21.3 63 N 89 10.43 26 W

Yes, this is a "new" thing. The first official report of the light was in 1966 (right after they rerouted that part or US 45).
It might be able to be picked up by IR imaging, but someone would have to set it right. FoF's images show so much background IR on the horizon, you cant see the car lights distinguished from the background. The lights are lower than where he eventually puts the crosshair (he puts it in the sky).

If its cars then why does the light change colors? It couldnt possibly be the headlights of a car. Its quite annoying when people are so afraid of the paranormal that they try to make reasons(that clearly are not correct) to help them sleep at night. People need to accept the fact that things beyond human comprehension are hiding in the darkness, some are here to hurt us and some are here to help.

  • @burninbiomass

Then "they" went to the wrong part of the road, that's pretty simple. They just needed to keep going until they got to the hill.
The lights are just from traffic, no one needs to leave a car there.

Why send someone past the guard rail when you can see the car thru a telescope? If you see the light, look thru a telescope and say "oh, its a car" there is nothing else you need to do. Looking from a different direction doesn't change the cars you saw from the first direction.
The lights does come from behind the hill (called Big Rock). As you walk forward, you are going down in elevation, so the light goes behind the hill. People may THINK that they must be near it, but they are not.

  • @burninbiomass
    @burninbiomass 11 років тому +1

Like I said in the other post, the Flir was picking up too much IR at the horizon, and the car headlights were getting buried in there (if FoF even filmed it when a car was there). Where he ended up putting the crosshair was in the sky, where the light isn't.
FoF didn't go far enough on the main road. These cars are behind where FoF was, not in front.

A key word thrown around is "believe" (and the engineer above in fact used it). A team of scientists have a working theory, and it's great. However, this is what you're missing: science vs. belief - using one domain and its set of laws and applying them to something not based on it in the first place. No Aztec used a telescope to see Gods, and no telescope would prove them wrong. Science is the world we see, but belief is in the mind. Don't use it to try to change others.

Also I was there when the road was covered in about 4 feet of snow and there were obviously no cars. The light appeared in different places and didn't usually move around at all. It could only be seen from certain places. For example, once I found a spot where it appeared as soon as I stepped to the right, and disappeared whenever I stepped back again. It tended to appear and disappear off and on consistently throughout the evening, never moving like a car. Sometimes it was down the road a little ways so that there was nothing but the path behind it and we could see the path with obviously no cars. We walked up to the place where it had appeared, but it always vanished from view before we could reach it. Usually it was a bright white with other colors visible within it, and twinkling, looking very much like a star although much bigger. It did not illuminate anything whatsoever. the ground and trees were all dark still around it -- again making it completely obvious not to be anything like headlights. Occasionally it appeared all red or all blue. Once it was shining white and suddenly started bouncing around and then shot up towards the sky and disappeared. Then one of us noticed it was hovering in front of a tree off to the left, and a deep red color. It hovered usually what appeared to be about 6 or 8 feet off the ground.

Water vapor condenses and hugs the contour of the earth. As night progresses and the temp drops there will be a thicker layer of it. Water is clear and acts as a lens. This layer of water acts like a fiber optic cable and conducts light very well. The headlights and tail lights of vehicles are conducted through this water vapor fiber optic lens to the viewing location. Even though not paranormal in any way, it's still a very interesting phenomena and worth going to see it occur.~DeanfromAbilene

That’s why I think it’s real. Edit) forgot to point out, it was extremely close and I walked down there alone before that happened and saw a white shadow pass by and thought it was deer and then find out by turning my flashlight on my phone and find it pass into the woods in front of me perfectly seeing it, by the time I saw I’m already behind the railing. One of the most terrifying experiences ever and also the light was there where I saw it being super super close

So it's always a motorcycle -- one light.
    Cars have two.
You only see one at a time.
And I have seen it turn red multiple times in an evening -- are we to believe that among the handful of travelers on that road, multiple among them are pulled over -- and we see the red light?
Cop lights also flash blue -- why is the light never blue?
Why does the light fade in and out, come closer and move away, vary in width and intensity?
How do two headlights merge into one? You never see two side-by-side lights from the viewing spot. Is it simply that you have two 89-ish degree angles from the headlights to our eyes... so that convergence of two lights into one is the result? I could buy that.
I cannot buy the vibrancy of the light from that distance,, or it changing colors minute by minute, or it moving in and out. Headlights moving closer, ok; but what explains the light moving away? Taillights don't glow white.

homerhickam3 There is no evidence that the train ran right there (I think the train ran west of there, but further west), in fact the grade is a bit steep for a train there. I don't think there was a big train bridge there either, as the train that ran in the area was just a spur line to small towns, and they wouldn't have built a big bridge for it. besides, if a train was there and removed in the 20's, the 80 year old would never had seen it. A person now is 80 would have been born in 1934.
Although getting people to admit there was a road there is a HUGE step. Years ago people said it was just a train bed.

homerhickam3 It absolutely matters how steep the grade is. Trains at some times might have been lighter, but its still steel wheels traveling on steel. There isn't a lot of grip there.

BS, I've seen these lights many times. They are not headlights, at least the ones I seen. I have seen an orange orb that floated all over the trees, stop and turn at us like a light house brighter than any car headlights, then it broke into multiple smaller orbs and was changing colors, even blue! WTF. This was in the late 90's. Another time I was there the same stuff happened but I actually discovered something interesting. I was looking down the powerlines like everyone else was, I seen nothing but then everyone was freaking out on what they were seeing. I couldn't see what they were seeing. I was only a couple feet to the left of where this group of people was. I took a few steps towards them and instantly could see the light, I went back where I was standing and the light disappeared. Strange, I think it depends where you stand too. I can't say this enough how what I've seen is not lights from cars. These lights dance around in the sky, they went way up in the sky, floated almost right up to us within maybe 50 feet, changed colors, split into smaller orbs etc. definitely not lights from cars. I've seen these lights every time I have been there. I live in Wisconsin so it's not too far away to visit. A bonus is the Casino a few miles away so on the way home you can gamble a bit before heading home lol

If you want to investigate, why dont you guys go to the exact spot where the light was seen, not from a distance. Investigating it from the same distance as other viewers will be quite incomplete and unsatisfactory.
