Regarding the flight where no ones luggage arrived Qantas did one better and not only didn't load the luggage for the up coming flight but didn't unload the luggage from the flight they had just completed so two plane loads of passengers didnt have luggage. This was because Qantas fired their ground staff then hire new inexperienced staff in an effort to save money. This is just one of many instances that have done them huge reputational damage.
Omg that sounds like an absolute nightmare for everyone involved 😱 It never pays to cut corners! I’ve never flown Qantas but I thought they had a good reputation…sounds like things have changed 😟 More reason I won’t check my baggage 😣Thank you so much for watching! ❤️
They were a very good airline but the CEO put profit and shareholders above all else. It is now costing them dearly as the ACCC is taking them to court for selling 8000 ghost flights ( flights which they had already cancelled) and the fine could be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. They have also lost the high court case for sacking their ground staff so are now up for compensation.
Like how many other safety corners are they also cutting?! I too thought they were a reputable company but Hell no!!!
I have heard of one instance that because of inexperienced ground crew, an aircraft was incorrectly loaded which would have been dangerous as the load could have moved during the flight. Fortunately it was discovered before take off, making it possible to unload and then reload the cargo.
I hate tapered pants. I never thought about their benefits, smart idea to wear on a plane.

One thing to be careful with backpacks is about the size - if you are flying within Europe, a lot of the budget airlines have much more restrictive sizing. For London - note that you will never really know ahead of time what the weather will be (I live there - weather will change very quickly - that's why I tell visitors to bring layers and rainwear). The other thing to know about London is that it is VERY casual compared to many other European locations, which does make it easier for packing. Hope you have/had a fun trip to London!
Yes the weather forecast has literally been changing by the day! I had to bring leather sneakers instead of my white fabric ones so they stay dry and I switched my coat to a slightly different one than I had planned. Otherwise everything else worked! 😊 I love London and wish I had more time…even a week is not enough! Thank you so much for your thoughts! ❤️

Really? I go to London twice a year for years now and I used to feel so inadequately under dressed. Street style is so fashionable! Now I over pack because between the weather and the fashion, it’s not a destination for me to be a conservative or casual packer.
I do have to say that I thought at the start of the video I was going to see the typical casual unfashionable outfits but I was so pleasantly surprised! Beautiful outfits. So you can do backpack packing with fashionable destination clothing. Good job!
@@MimiH1959 I live here. I'm not saying that there aren't people who dress up (or that I don't on occasion), but the overall style is more casual than say, Milan. Tonight I'm going out for drinks and dinner and feel perfectly happy to wear my fake leather leggings and a red jumper with black platform boots. I might wear a dress if I were going to a different country.

Hey! Seasoned traveler here. Great video! I agree and always recommend a capsule wardrobe (essentially what you did also). But my back issues limit me so the backpack idea would be too painful. But I see lots of other people doing this. ☺️
Yes capsule wardrobe all the way!I always hated overpacking and lugging a bunch of stuff around that never got used on a trip so I finally figured out this works for me. The backpack def gives me less anxiety with losing luggage but it also keeps me in check so I’m not mindlessly buying stuff either bc there’s limited space to bring things back 🤨 I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts! I’ve been traveling with a backpack for years now. Mine is a 30 liter. I’m a size 16, 5’10”. Just got back from Greece my pack was 11 pounds. I’m leaving for a week in Belgium at the end of November and my first practice pack is 8 pounds. I mainly travel with silk, merino wool and cashmere. All of which I’ve bought at thrift stores. I used to be an over packer I’m so much calmer on my trips now. I take only what I need, I can usually make between 10 or more outfits. I don’t have to haul around a bunch of stuff I don’t use. I even take my own coffee and cigarettes (yes I know it’s a horrible habit) . I will never go back to a regular suitcase, even the thought of doing so gives me anxiety. Great video!
Very smart to travel with natural fibers, they are light, comfortable & warm! I used to be an over packer but it drove me nuts when I didn’t use half the things I packed & was just lugging them around with me so I finally wised up! You sound like you’ve got it down to a science so kudos to you, it def takes practice to know how to pack efficiently & not feel like you’re without. I applaud your reason to make this video but want to remind you that 12 outfits is for a woman your size. 😉Not all people are built as slim as you are…. so probably more like 4-6 outfits at best. Thanks for the video.🎉

maybe tops and bottoms and the mix/match would get you closer to 10-12 fits. I think dresses would take a lot of room.
I am L and could manage in a backpack that size, mine is smaller and I did 2 weeks . But you can have personal item plus that as carryon. Personal item can be quite large, like the size of a pet carrier. In there can be many things even shoes
The idea is laundry services of course. Plus if you are in a warmer climate. On a plane I couldn't take large shampoo, etc, so those I bought after arrival.
My concerns with bus travel is not wanting something out of my sight, and for plane travel is that extra time waiting to get your bag. Plus I did travel with 2 large checked bags, carry on and personal item, and I swore I'd never travel like that again. It's not worth it. And short connection dragging a carryon for 20 minutes to get to the gate, it's much easier with a backpack. Tho the best backpack I saw also has wheels
Most of my long trip items were dresses. For my more recent travel I also needed pants. I bought shoes and those hair products on arrival. I didn't need shoes on the first half of my trip. Again, laundry services at the halfway point.
In that London trip I probably would have had sweaters only as top layers over a variety of short and long sleeved tops. Just because you don't want to end up indoors over heated with only sweater tops. One black cardigan, one pullover sweater, would also be less weight, replace the other sweater tops with more shirts
But really, as you said, you already had more outfits that you needed for seven days.

I totally agree with you on what to wear on planes ,because of the lavatory 's space concerns !! Lol.
I wear cotton ( or any natural material that is not very flammable ! ) one puece to my knee level !! As I get bloated on planes !! Lol
Also, I highly recommend Travelon anti theft bags !! I used it during my trip in Wales and England 🇬🇧 😀 I loved it !! They are super light & come with anti identity theft features inside out of the bags !! 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️💞

This is one reason why men always have it so much easier to go to the bathroom, lol! Lululemon outlets (if you have one close by) usually have nice joggers that are better priced than retail….although mine are from H&M! 😜 Thank you so much for watching! ❤️
My biggest problem is that I have to take my cpap. But I might be able to fit it in that large backpack! I'm going to Europe next summer and want to travel light. I'm 75 and not sure about carrying so much on my back. But we'll be moving around that I need something that I can carry easily.

I’ve made too many packing mistakes in the past that I’ve finally learned that keeping it simple is the way to go 😊And very cool that you already use Pacsafe! It is honestly such a great product! If I’m able to use the scale at the airport when I check in I can definitely update you here 👍 I can tell you that when I was buying it in store, they give you a few weight bags that look like packing cubes to give you an idea on how much weight is on your back. I put in 20 lbs and it nearly broke my back…I could hardly walk without pain so if I were to guess, mine is probably half that. But will def try to update you! It is great for us who have winter coloring to take black. For other seasons, those people will look washed out and sick the whole time.
To weigh your pack just use your normal scale, weigh yourself without the pack, then put on the pack or pick up your suitcase and step on the scale again. The difference is the weight of the suitcase.

@@heartmumblrI always carry a portable digital luggage scale with me when I travel. Very small and light that I can put it in my purse.
Like the bag. Do need to drag stuff out for TSA. Always my downfall repacking after that. Airport needs to provide more repacking space for after TSA.
Oh I should have shown that l ended up putting my liquids in a zip lock bag and put it in the smaller zip compartment so I just easily pulled it out and put it back in after the security line, so it made things a little more efficient during tsa checks. I agree with you !! Mostly black outfits, a trench coat ( because it's Britain 🇬🇧 I did !! Lol I've always been loving trench coats all of my life since as a kid ! ) & I wear knee length cotton one piece with heaviest jacket & jewelries on planes !! @heartmumblr Oh ! I hear you ! Lol. I've always been in love with trench coats / motorcyclist jackets since I was my early teens !! 😍 You don't wanna ruin your outfits in the rain ! I always bring two jackets ( lighter & warm/ heavier )& 2, 3 prs of my shoes on my travels ! But,it's harder to do nowadays because of the regulations ! Besides ,I try doing carry on only trips !! Lol. My biggest regret was thatI changed my mind at the last minute & added another carry-on size luggage because I was paying for a premium economy on my returning that allowed more luggage !! But,you know ,U.K.'s got lots of cobblestones ,stoney / hilly roads !! Ugh ! I knew it because I had been there & always been familiar with Brit's lifestyles & the environments ,well ,more than others in general for sure !! But,silly me !! I did bring another !! Lol And I did shop !! LOL, I was walking like a turtle 🐢 in the streets there everywhere I went ,in slomo !! LOLLOLLOL 🤣A taxi driver who was watching me ,came over, said, " You need help !" Lol. He called his buddy & put me in his car to my accommodation !! LOL 😆( I paid ,but he helped me w/ my luggage / shopping bags full of stuffs !! ) It was embarrassing. But,so~many sweet Welsh / English/ immigrants there gave me helping hands ,they carried my heavy luggage ( even though they were so compact ! ) up / down the steps at train / subway stations !! And in streets !! I couldn't believe it !! I've got lots of fond memories of both countries !! Have you ever been to Wales ?If not ,you should ! I highly recommend that Wales is a GEM 💎, so~gorgeous & people are so sweet & lovely there !! My late soulmate was Welsh . I am planning to revisit Wales / England in the near future again !!! Yes !! Our luggage gets lost a lot more often than people think !! Especially during the connecting flights !! So,if anyone's doing trips with connecting flights or feeder flights ,they should do carry-on only !! If that's a long trip ,they should find accommodation with washier/ dryer ,at least a washier ( the most countries in U.K.& Europe don't have dryers at their homes ! ) ,but DON'T TRUST website's descriptions like Expedia, etc. because their information is not accurate !! I was upset as I counted on their information to do my laundry in England/ Wales !! Also, breakfast with organic produces ,eggs ,juice, and so on & it all turned out flat lies .Well, the hotels didn't, the 3rd parties did !! LOL 😅 It almost ruined my trip there ! Luckily, I mannaged by using laundromat & a hotel's laundry service !!
Another reason that luggage get lost is we leave old tags on of our previous destinations !! LOL As well as the handler's mistakes !! Also, theft !! Spanking of ,be aware of luggage theft in hitel rooms & even luggage hold at hotels !! SHOCKING !! To my surprise, I got tons of my underwear, tops ,dresses ,jewelries got stolen by doung luggage hold at a hotel in Cardiff ,Wales !! I couldn't believe it !! All of my souvenirs were fine ,though ! Lol. I guess the person didn't need those as she was a local . I strongly believe I know who was ! Saddly, another Japanese. Because she stole my instant body warmers w adhesives !! Lol. Not many non Japanese person knows what they are !! LOLLOL So,that pointed a finger at her !! Very sad ,indeed . But,so be careful !! Try do carry on only trips !! Lol.💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️💞
I love your inspiration, but I'm thinking- Reality Check! Most airlines have an 8 kg weight limit for a carry-on. How much did that backpack weigh? Second, economy fares usually allow only one carry-on plus a purse. But in addition to the backpack you have another item (which we don't know what it contains) PLUS a purse. How do you get by with so many (probably heavy) carry-ons?
Reality has been checked ✅ 😊I’ve traveled to and returned from London with this bag and had no issues with the weight/size from tsa. Most ppl had much bigger carry on suitcases than mine. When I first tried on the bag in store they gave me weighted 20 lb packing cubes to gauge how much I could carry on my back and that was extremely heavy for me personally. When I put my own stuff in it, it probably felt like half that amount and very manageable and I’m 5’2” and not that strong. I managed well thru the airports, train stations, etc. I recognize everyone is different and you should do what’s right for you.
I put my LV bag inside my longchamp tote bag so it worked well since it’s small and the tote is large. The tote I carried was mostly empty as I only mainly had my wallet, chargers and passport. The tote looked full in the video bc I just pulled it out of my closet and it stores other stuff in there when not in use but I traveled with it mostly empty to give me a little space in case I decided to buy something in London (which I did). I hope that helps clarify❤️
Loved your video. I’ve watched tons of packing videos and yours is by far the most stylish for clothing ideas. I can’t wear black, but the one colour idea which includes texture and details is what makes it work. I may try a monochrome look say all navy and throw in a few colourful scarves for added colour. I loved your dressy leggings too. They elevate the look. Can you tell what brand they are?
Scarves are a great idea to accessorize without the added bulk in packing! And thank you so much for your kind feedback 😊 My leggings are by BCBG but I bought them from the Saks Outlet. I know Spanx has one that I’ve debated buying but don’t need them at them moment so haven’t purchased but they’re called the The Perfect Pant in the slim straight fit (they also have wide leg, flared, etc). I knew my checked bag wouldnt arrive 1st time in.y life turned up 2 weeks later zero compensation for living with zero during this time they couldve letme carry on since then no mire check in bag also lost by bus co twice!!! Got it backnxt time a patterned mini backpack..
Oh goodness, I’m sorry that happened…it’s so frustrating when that happens. The airline lost my double stroller when I was going to the outter countryside of France. They lost it in August, and the airline sent it to the Airbnb I was staying at in November!!! The owner of the Airbnb emailed me to say thank you so much for donating it to her so other families could also use it. By then I’d already purchased a new stroller so I just replied “you’re welcome” 😆
@@heartmumblr This was everything I had I cant velieve got it back again but had to pay for extra 14 nights living qnd accommodation plus afency in France to try to track it! There seems no law at all snd airlines do as they please. Next time will havevto lose most things and just go with essentials if ever go for a longer time.

Roller backpack
There are lots of soft roller bag options that are malleable enough to get into the overhead compartment (instead of a small hard case which they might ask you to gate check). ❤️
You would tether your luggage in a hostel.

I tether my luggage to the train luggage rack if I think I’m going to sleep on said train or if I otherwise can’t keep an eye on it. Just makes it a little harder to swipe.
@@Whatizzit yes that’s a great idea! I never feel comfortable leaving my luggage on the racks near the doorway on a train. Someone could take the wrong bag even by accident!
I'd tether it at a cafe table as well, or a lot of places, having seen some videos of thieves

You tether your backpack so someone can’t run by and snatch your bag while you are not paying attention, especially on a long bus or train ride.

Oh no, 9 kilos is what they gave me in the store as weighted packing cubes to put in the bag while I was trying it on and it nearly broke my back, lol 🫨 I would say my stuff in it was about half that. Thanks so much for watching!
