I'm a student as well... Struggled with addiction for years but now have 2 years sobriety. I've been on the other side of the desk for years but am anxious to start my internship next spring! Best of luck in your journey

In Australia we have this strange approach that we help only those who ask for help and that it is people's choice. We often let people fall all the way yet try to prevent a suicide. It makes no sense.

Also, often the person is dealing with something vulnerable that has been private for the longest time. Just like some people you feel comfortable letting into "your house", feel safe around, others not so much or not at all. Lately a friend is (again: its not the first time and I'm not the only one she does this to) is trying hard to force her own ideas of what would be good for me and at what pace, onto me. I actually realised last time she was getting pushy, I'm feeling close to violated by her. This analogy made so much sense to me. It felt the same having a guy trying to have sex with me when I did not want to. You have to be ready yourself and it has to be the right person.

Why do most therapists or doctors not understand child neglect, severe bullying at school. My 1st doctor was great I saw the last 2 have been terrible.

You just have to find the right therapist. I’m a therapist and neither me or my colleagues would ever ignore an issue as serious as those you mentioned. Sorry you’ve had bad luck, but don’t give up! A ton of us are out there :)

One thing is some counselors are keeping their clients to stay paid. When a Client who isn't court ordered is asked to be dropped. The Counselors
are actually obligated to drop their case. Theyy tell their clients. That the clients parents , wife , or friends and other family are unfair to client. Giving the client a low self esteem. Their told they need to be emotionally close to the counselors. It is actually a form of Psychological Malpractice. The cleints tells the counselor he or she doesn't want any more letters to appeal the close case. they get a letter mentioning that. Just to bring client back to counseling. No means No. it does become malpractice when counselor keeps bring up past when Client made changes that are positive for themselves. I which you would address that kind of stuff. Not all clients situations are their fault. Why take responsibility and blame the client when it isn't their fault?

I never stay with a therapist for more than 2 weeks, I find them too fake, annoying or they say things I dont like and I dont come back lmao, I dont know why nobody feels "right" for me but I know I need help since I'm struggling with mood swings and addiction :/

Recently someone told me "If you go to a beauty salon, then you won't need psychologist. I'll never go or pay a psychologist because they only advise people. It's the most useless profession on earth". After studying masters in clinical psychology I had no idea psychologists give advices. Thank you for these videos
