    Thanks for your video! I am going to get your Timeline presets - I am lost on how to make useful presets. I am redoing my pedalboard with a GigRig switcher- that would be perfect for you! The new G3 and G3 Atom are so easy to setup presets with midi changes- perfect for my worship team use. Blessings

      Thanks for the support! Let me know if you have any questions! To learn how to build out presets, I'd recommend to open them in Strymon's Nixie editor so that you can easily see where I've set every parameter. From there, experiment with each knob turning it all the way down and then all the way up to see how it affects the sound. Beyond making sure you have the tempo set right, there's a lot that's up to your preference with how much you want the delay to cut through the mix (or not) and how you want it to sound.
      I'll have to check out the GigRig! Switchers have a lot of benefits. I've just never made the jump myself though I have friends who love them.

    My very first decent pedal is a FD 2 Mosfet. I will never part with it. Amazing tone you got there.

      It's an amazing pedal. I especially love the touch sensitivity in it. It's been on my board for about 10 years for a reason. Thanks for watching!

    You mention the sweep on the Dunlop mini volume pedal... just curious how it physically feels to you in that position. Reason i ask is I just got the same pedal, and I put it on the bottom row of my pedaltrain, but because the board is angled off the floor, it feels awkward to extend my heel all the way back to get the volume pedal to 0. I may have to just take that pedal on and off the board to keep it flat on the floor when i play.
    Thanks for any input!

      Totally know what you mean. I had to get used to it as well. The best way I've found is to position the pedal in the dead center of your foot (rather than having your heel or toe on the pedal). Doing this makes the sweep feel more natural on my ankle.

    Great video, brother! Have you considered getting a midi controller to change patches more quickly on the Strymon pedals? I've been trying to convince myself to get the BOSS MS-3 because it's got several built-in effects like compressor, delay and reverb and 3 separate loops for analog pedals, for example.

    • @worshipguitarbasics
      @worshipguitarbasics  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks, Douglas! Glad you liked it! I actually haven't wanted to go Midi, at least not yet, just to keep it more simple. I did do a lot of tap dancing here but usually I'd reorganize the patches to be more in order for songs that I'd play to minimize that. I do like a small/simple board though so if anything, I'd probably look into the Disaster Area DMC micro or something like that for my setup. One of my friends has the Boss MS-3 and really likes it. I don't think you can go wrong with it!

    Awesome board man! Wanna build one sometime in the future centered around the HX stomp/ HX stomp xl.. do you think a board like this is versatile enough to do both worship music and also other genres? Pop/RnB/Jazz/Blues? I only have money for 1 board to do it all😅

    • @worshipguitarbasics
      @worshipguitarbasics  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks, Caleb! I think the HX stomp is a great choice and would be versatile for what you're wanting, especially given the different amps and effects you can use in it. I'd recommend getting an external dual switch to make the HX stomp more powerful if you go that route.
      I have an HX stomp and have considered putting it on the board for a bit. I have a few videos on the channel where I use the HX stomp if you want to hear more of it.

    Hey, I really appreciate this video! I recently got into playing electric for my church and since I’m a beginner I don’t know too much about pedals and things like that. Whenever I play, I would have to manually change the knobs on some of my pedals depending on the songs we sing. Is that something you usually do or do you keep it at a specific direction where it’s universal for most songs? Thanks!

    • @worshipguitarbasics
      @worshipguitarbasics  2 роки тому

      Glad you found it helpful! This is exactly why I started the channel - to help be a resource to others. I don't usually ever bend down to tweak any settings during a worship set (though I do tap dance), but it's because I have multiple overdrives that can cover different sounds and a delay (Timeline) and reverb (Bigsky) that have presets. So my overdrives have a universal sound that I use and I mainly cycle through delay presets and reverb presets based on the song to get different tones. What pedals are you usually tweaking mid set?

    • @lejoygeorge2800
      @lejoygeorge2800 2 роки тому

      @@worshipguitarbasics The board I have is pretty old. The only pedals I have are the Boss Giga Delay, the Timmy overdrive, a shimmer pedal, and a hall of fame reverb pedal. I also have a boss Blues Driver as well. The main ones I change are the Timmy and the hall of fame since they have more of an impact on the tone of the guitar. But I still don’t know how to use them too well so I’m still getting used to them.

    • @lejoygeorge2800
      @lejoygeorge2800 2 роки тому

      I really would like to get a timeline and compression pedal since they both are really amazing, but they’re kind of expensive so I’m just working with what I have.

    • @worshipguitarbasics
      @worshipguitarbasics  2 роки тому +1

      @@lejoygeorge2800 You don't need expensive pedals to sound good or lead worship - they for sure help (presets are the best part), but you've got some good pedals to work with! Here's what I'd probably do if I had your setup:
      Hall of fame - set to a medium mod verb (medium in terms of level and decay) to where you can leave it on the same setting most of the time and not have to tweak. This is the equivalent of my Cloud 2 Bigsky preset in this video if you want to try to copy the mix/decay from it. There may be some cases where you'd want to tweak to get a huge verb, but keep in mind that in general the more verb and gain you use, the more you may actually fall under the mix.
      Overdrive: I haven't actually used a blues driver so can't comment on that, but I really like my Timmy for lower/transparent gain or pushing an already driven signal. You can check out my Death is Arrested video where I have a pic of my Timmy settings if you want to start from there (keeping in mind I have my amp already set at the point of breakup). So if you use the Timmy as a lower/medium gain drive, you could possibly then kick on the blues driver to get more gain for intro/lead parts, depending on how it stacks with the Timmy. You then wouldn't need to tweak to get different OD sounds. Experimenting and playing is the best way to find what you like!

      @@worshipguitarbasics I really appreciate the the tips. I never really understood the need for reverb until I started listening to electric covers and better understood the different effects that were needed. One last question: I’ve heard a lot about compression also playing a large factor in many electric guitar player’s covers, but I wanted to know how it works as far as it being mixed with overdrive and reverb.

    You use FM or Vintage mode on Fulldrive?

    • @worshipguitarbasics
      @worshipguitarbasics  4 роки тому +2

      I usually use either FM or CompCut depending on the amp or modeler. I rarely (if ever) use Vintage as it's too dark for my taste with my setup. I think I was using FM in this video. Love the drive though. I picked up a king of tone last year but think I actually prefer the FD2.
