I'm thinking that when Kim came downstairs and saw her father looking disheveled, he'd already taken care of the problem. And I fully support that action.
@@masterreaper115 I think Mr. Ballen added that dialogue for the storytelling. There are some lines you just don’t cross and child molestation and stalking is one of them. And the gall of this lunatic to keep continuing even when he was made out as a pedofile.
Considering that the family wasn't awoken by a gunshot; I'd say that Kim's father's desperation scared him off. It's either that, or there's a lot missing from this story.
You should always file a police report, even if you know there's nothing they can do about it. File a complaint every time there's an incident. That way there is a clear record supporting your story when you are forced to use your wireless hole puncher.
I thought the EXACT same thing when the dad said that he wasn't going to fire a report... you HAVE TO keep a record of abuse so that when inevitably you unalive said person there's direct evidence to support that you were in danger and acted accordingly. Please keep you and your families safe people, learn your local laws and stay educated on the things that matter, you could save your/your families lives one day!!!!❤
Saying "stay away from my family!" "Never call here again!" To someone stalking your family is probably just as effective as saying "swiper no swiping"
Can we all also appreciate the maturity of Kim in this situation, recognising a creep when she sees one and not falling for the ol "free candy" situation
If the father did take that creep out, good for him; I believe he was well within his rights and made his neighborhood a safer place for his and all the other children.
Honestly even if it's a kid telling a story about some made up sounding guy following them, I'd be concerned. A real guy? I'd be tracking the dude down to meet him.
I was out fishing for tadpoles in the creek that ran through my apartment complex in Seattle. I was also 9 years old. As I was skipping home with my bucket of tadpoles I felt a hand grab my shoulder and I turned around to face this crazy looking guy that was grinning at me with wild eyes. The only thing he said was "I'm gonna get you" and I screamed and threw my bucket of tadpoles at him and took off running for my apartment. I barely made it inside before he caught me. All of the parents in the complex banded together to go find him but our apartments were surrounded by forest and they never caught him. I didn't go play outside for years after that and to this day I get major anxiety going anywhere alone. I finally broke down and got my ccp which has definitely helped me a bit. The mom probably assumed the daughter had over dramatized the first interaction and it's a small town, maybe there's a new Dr. around. Back in the 70s it was absolutely not weird for adults to talk to other people's children casually, especially in little suburban cities. true! i remember hearing a story on let's read. some creep tried to cast a father's daughter into their "modeling agency" but he knows it's child trafficking. he played along with those guys at first to gain their trust and then killed them one by one when they least expected it. he forced the last guy to delete the pictures he had of other children on his laptop and he did because he was afraid of being killed but the father killed him anyway after he deleted them. he also tipped the police on their shady business and i think they were able to find the main source(?) of all that, some of which are from different countries. he didn't only save his daughter but he saved potential child victims as well.

@@mrsx7944 He bought a gun and guarded his house with it conspicously. If Ramsay had been watching the family through their windows for months, he probably saw the father guarding his house on one of his window peeping session or something. After months of being scared for his child, he probably stayed up late for weeks or months with that gun. Ramsey probably put two and two together and realized that he had tormented the family for so long, put them all in a state of perpetual vigilance, that the father was likely to just shoot him on sight. Knowing there's a weapon in the house can be enough to intimidate a stalker, though I'm guessing Ramsey wasn't quite all there. Still the idea of getting shot must have been enough to shatter his delusions a little bit. Or maybe the dad made Ramsey 'disappear'. That would be crazy, but not exactly surprising.

The irony is when you were living through it, 1970s America WASN'T scary, because unless you were a victim to something like this, no one even knew things like that were even happening. It's not like now where every incident is posted on Facebook. Everyone lived in their little bubble of false security believing they were safe, completely oblivious to the dangers like "Dr. Ramsey" lurking around them. Actually, had "Dr. Ramsey" not started calling the house and creeping out her parents, Kim might have suddenly disappeared one day and they'd assume she'd been out playing somewhere unsafe and gotten into an accident or something. When they were looking for her, her parents probably wouldn't have even mentioned the "pediatrician" their daughter claimed approached her days ago to the police because they would have believed the interaction was innocent. Nowadays, those of us who lived through it all unscathed hearing stories like this and are horrified, because this could have been any one of us and we had no clue back then it could even be a possibility. A creepily determined creep. I don't think I could have let the situation go on for as long as it did. Knowing that he was frequently lurking around outside the house - I would have had to set up some accidents for him to have. It may have been the eighties but it's still ridiculous that the police weren't more interested. And now he is no longer - it leaves the nagging question of who he really was and did he have other victims. Nice deep pit by his favourite peeping window - that would have done it.

Stalkers are bloody terrifying. I had one years ago when I lived by myself in an apartment, and the cops basically told me they couldn't do anything "until something 'actually' happens". Great. Thanks. A close friend told her brother (big, super sweet red-neck kinda guy who was home from college for the summer) to stay with me as a live-in body guard. He would come with me to the apartment gym (cause I had stopped going to my regular workouts) and he lived with me for a couple of weeks until the stalker got brave enough to try and break in one night. Unlucky for him, my friends brother had a pistol (his legally) and he shot the stalker in the leg, rolled him over onto his belly when he collapsed and sat on top of him while I called the cops. The guy is now in prison, as he had multiple warrants for sexual assaults, rape, and murder. I still have no idea where the guy had seen me, or where, if we did, have an encounter, and why he chose me, but I'm glad we were able to stop him from hurting anyone else. Stalker stories terrify me, especially when friends, family and authorities don't believe the person when they say they think they're being stalked, then they turn up dead and everyone is like "oh, I guess we should have taken them seriously...". Luckily my friends did.

I am just baffled by how the elder brothers thought it was a good idea to go to a skating rink on the very night that their parents would be out, and with full knowledge of there being a stalker lurking about. Pure idiocy.
Why would the parents not have had another adult in the house while they were gone? The cop escort friend? Any parent with that kind of fear for their children, even weeks ago, would have had a responsible adult there, capable of both deterrence and defense.
They have lives too and they're not their brothers and sisters keepers. That's the parents' job. Why do people think it's ok to put kids in charge of kids?
How he came up to her and introduced himself so calmly in the beginning of the story just proves that he’s been profiling the little girl for awhile. 🤢
When I was a 12 year old girl, I had a paper route. I rode a bicycle and most of my route was in the vicinity of my home. A man followed me around in his car every day. He knew my route by heart plus he lived only 4 blocks from us.It was creeping me out so after about a month of this, I finally told my Dad. My Dad was a very big coal miner and quite intimidating. He paid a visit to the man, but would never tell me what he said to him. The stalking immediately stopped.
I've seen almost every video you've published, and out of all the CRAZY stories, I have to say this one is definitely the creepiest. Nothing out-creeps mere humans.
i was honestly super disturbed by the snow wood cabin with "Who's knocking?" thumbnail, the creature in there was truly terrifying, nad there's no guarantee a dad would be able to stop it, even if there was a dad there... And Ballen's own story of a tall figure visiting their cabin multiple nights in a row was also terryfying... and then there's the pulmira wolves story... Man, so many scares all around here...
The npc decision making in this story is unreal. The way the cops handled it, the amazing idea to leave just the youngest kids alone in the house in the middle of the ordeal, the youngest brother deciding it's a good idea to go downstairs by himself for cereal... I can only imagine the boy was thinking, "Must have just been the wind". I just can't fathom it, not even for children.
It's because it evokes the absolute WORST, most primal fears in us, that some monster is going to hurt our children. It terrifies us the most because protecting your offspring is the most basic need of all organisms, it's what links us and drives us to protect other creatures babies from harm. In the end I think that it drives our anxiety sky high because we can only do so much to protect them, you raise them right, try to teach them how to stay safe and take care of themselves, but in the end, chaos still happens, and we can't control the world. The absolute WORST thing about THIS story is that the parents KNEW. THEY had absolutely no doubts that there was a monster out there, who was literally OBSESSED with THEIR daughter! They didn't know who he was (dad found out, for sure) or what he was planning, but they KNEW that THEIR little girl was his focus, and the "law" was absolutely useless! I can't even imagine how stressful that had to be on their marriage and the family in general. Talk about aging years in mere months! 😩😴😱
The story probably ended so abruptly because the dad found the "doctor" that night and took him out and dumped the body somewhere but didn't want to tell his family that he killed the guy so he left it a secret.
Wrap the body in a good amount of chainlink fence and roll him into the river.. now the father has zero concern a bloated decomposing bodypart wont float up and start a investigation on said body lol ;) dont know from experience, but seems like a pretty sound plan if need be!

She only says “I sat with him for a time, watching, before he sent me back to bed.” She ends the post this way, “I don't know if he was in a car wreck, locked in prison, in a coma...but sometimes I wonder if the wait ended for my dad when he was sitting in the darkened kitchen one night. This was horrifying! Poor family. I hope Kim's dad had something to do with Ramsey's disappearance. 1970s America sounds very scary!
How many "Dr. Ramsey's" did I encounter that I was just lucky enough to escape without even knowing I was in danger in the first place??? Now THAT thought is terrifying!!!

Maybe phone call #2 it's stake out time, and he's gonna be in no physical condition to stalk anybody after that 💯
@@joejitsuway960 That's where I'm just shaking my head. While I get that there just weren't stalker laws that the police could enforce back then, there's still plenty of stuff like impersonating a doctor, trespassing, attempted b&e, and general harassment that were illegal and most certainly warrant a few stake outs and, oh I don't know, getting a description of the creep and his car and circulating it around town.
I will help Ramsey get all the way to Bell's Canyon. I know the way
Loved this one! A Mr. Ballen story with a happy ending!!
I hope the dad got the guy. I don't care if he killed him, threatened him or whatever he did. I just hope he got closure. I know I wouldn't be able to sleep if this happened to my family.
You can't a kill a guy just because he was stalking your family, you're much worse a person than him if you do

Hopefully dr Ramsey is in that yard under a garden gnome pushing daisys.
nvmffs you’ve obviously never been stalked. I had the police tell me straight up- shoot him and make sure he doesn’t get back up. Psychological abuse is so much worse than physical, especially when you get out of the shower and a love note has been written in the steam on the window.
nvmffs not unless that stalker is threatening you...then you have a reason to do so.
It turns out her father travelled to the future, watched all of Mr. Ballen's videos, and then went back and did all of the things to Dr. Ramsey that we've been told to do to the like button.

Great story. Never heard it before. Kept me on the edge of my seat. That Kim was a pretty smart little girl. From day one she did everything right. She knew to stay away from Dr. Ramsey.
Exactly!
Everything except go home when someone is still following you, which let's them know where you live
@@apoptosisduellinks109 ??????
@@LadyAlf57 When Kim met the guy for the first time, he was clearly following her. While he was still following her, she went into her house. This was a mistake because this way the guy knew where she lives. What she should have done is make sure she isn't followed anymore before going home. Meanwhile she just needs to make sure she is safe.

Right?? That's a serious error in judgment there. I would never have left my kids alone if we were going through something like that.
Or literally anyone
For real someone should have at least been there, first choice the cop friend second choice ANYONE ELSE but Dr. Ramsey (you no what I mean).
When he said Kim's mother reacted the way "most" of us would, I was thinking Kim's mom was about to grab the rolling pin and smack somebody's head...
Ya know, Paula Dean said every woman needs two frying pans.. one to cook with and the other....
What an example of a great dad
Mr Ballen is too underrated. He's like the teacher whos rly good at narrating.

His voice is so soothing, I fall asleep faster wen listening to his stories
Very true. I push his him on everyone
I am just baffled by how the elder brothers thought it was a good idea to go to a skating rink on the very night that their parents would be out, and with full knowledge of there being a stalker lurking about. Pure idiocy.
Its fiction. Relax.
@@whatever7338 no its not...
Yeap I thought the same
Why would the parents not have had another adult in the house while they were gone? The cop escort friend? Any parent with that kind of fear for their children, even weeks ago, would have had a responsible adult there, capable of both deterrence and defense.
They have lives too and they're not their brothers and sisters keepers. That's the parents' job. Why do people think it's ok to put kids in charge of kids?
How he came up to her and introduced himself so calmly in the beginning of the story just proves that he’s been profiling the little girl for awhile. 🤢
Exactly. Long enough to discover the faulty window and doors whether he learned it from observation or from trying to gain entry into the house.
Sounds like Dad took care of that though!
Dude I thinks it’s insane that they left the kids alone tbh I would stay with them forever even after that guy “disappeared”
Good
Good Dad,,,,,,believed you ,,,,good Dad!
He probably didn’t say much if I’m being honest. He likely dealt with him in a different manner than you’d expect.
Good fucking dad. I love hearing about fathers doing stuff like this for their kids.
your dad is the type of guy to name their daughter B.J. Mauck
I've seen almost every video you've published, and out of all the CRAZY stories, I have to say this one is definitely the creepiest. Nothing out-creeps mere humans.
The two-legged predators are the scariest.
I agree. This was definitely the creepiest and I've heard them all as well
Oh there are so many good stories I can't pick a favorite, I love them ALL 😉
Totally agree, unfortunately
i was honestly super disturbed by the snow wood cabin with "Who's knocking?" thumbnail, the creature in there was truly terrifying, nad there's no guarantee a dad would be able to stop it, even if there was a dad there... And Ballen's own story of a tall figure visiting their cabin multiple nights in a row was also terryfying... and then there's the pulmira wolves story...
Man, so many scares all around here...
Who else hunts UA-cam like a Hawk between 11am and 2pm everyday looking for Mr.Ballen? It’s like that little bit of sunlight on a rainy day 💯👍
Not to mention her is flipping gorgeous!

Seriously my wife is definitely thinking I'm cheating
I'm in Indonesia and set my alarm for the wee hours to check for new videos. After this one I'll have trouble going back to sleep 😱
This of all mr. Ballen stories, invoked THE worst anxiety in me. Totally terrifying.
I know this one was the worst I was home alone to....
And yet I can't stop watching
I'm glad i live on the 12th floor in an apartment building. No sneaking outside the windows up here.
me as well , chills and goosebumps
The story probably ended so abruptly because the dad found the "doctor" that night and took him out and dumped the body somewhere but didn't want to tell his family that he killed the guy so he left it a secret.
Wrap the body in a good amount of chainlink fence and roll him into the river.. now the father has zero concern a bloated decomposing bodypart wont float up and start a investigation on said body lol ;) dont know from experience, but seems like a pretty sound plan if need be!
You got to do what you got have to do to protect your family.
i hope he got the satisfaction of seeing him cry and beg for mercy.
HD White and not a single person here would blame him if that were so, hell I live across the Atlantic and wasn't even born then but I'll testify I was there and the Ramsay bastard started it, may he burn in all Seven Circles of Hell for eternity!
@@kylep3764 I watched Cold Pursuit the a couple days ago too.
He’s a master storyteller , he reminds me of the time we were kids and we would beg our Grandma or Grandpa to tell us a story. We would form a circle around them with all our siblings and cousins , and we would get so engrossed in the story that time would just fly. I miss those days !!!!
I'm so glad that the dad did what he had to do. It's sad that this was his last resort, and he most likely had to carry the burden of murdering someone from the family to keep them happy. He's a true hero.
Im assuming he looked in and seen the father sitting in the dark with a gun and realized that the games were over and endgame had begun.
Little sister being stalked: alone*
Older brothers: hey wanna go skateboards
Exactly what I thought! Wth... They've let their guard down. The brothers or the mother should've stayed home.
