God Rest Tim Hart, such very talented musicians and what a beautiful voice Maddy Prior has, an absolute joy for to listen to. I only started getting into this band around 6 years ago, and I haven’t stopped playing them since, what have I been missing., but it’s really for the better now, as it’s all still new to me. Love Maddy Prior so much, along with the rest of the band, so very talented.
This is my least favourite Steeleye period. There was so much samey manufactured pop around at the time , albeit with a few gems like Roxy Music here and there. But honestly why put a Rubettes / Rollers / Showaddywaddy style backing on a folk song? All around my hat worked a bit better I think
im sure they are lovely people but.... this is music for 'housewives' to dust and vacuum the house to...thank god PUNK reset everything to 'zero' ..watching this gives me a chill like you get when watching The Stepford Wives or the end of '...Body Snachers ... Donald Sutherland'....having said that... to think that at about the same period '76/77 you had CRASS about to set up camp from a position of paranoia/awareness of the darkside of the state , but basically people from same background...ie middle class ( except Steve Ignorant )... troll/sermon over....

I think this line-up was at its peak at this time. Certainly when I went to see them at the Hammersmith Odeon (now Eventim Apollo).

It was Rocket Cottage, from where this was taken, that really got me into Span. This is a good song, even if I don't particularly like London itself.
Rocket Cottage is a fantastic album ❤ stole my mum's vinyl copy when I was 16!

It's all down to taste in the end.
Some of us much prefer this, but there's plenty of different genres for everyone.
