Because we have been in need we can clearly see it and don't so quickly judge the needy as deserving of their troubles or as undeserving of our help.
We know cold, hunger, unrelenting pain and even desperation, may we never forget and always help where we can. 🙏
Garbage bags and tarps, blankets and dry socks, hand warmers are all appreciated and used in rainy weather.

When I was homeless, living in a tent I was out in the forrest , after things got wet for long enough things began to get mouldy. Even my tent went mouldy. All of those things had to be discarded. It's so brutal how these people with so little will keep loosing the few things they need to survive. It's so hard to get out of the rut of homelessness when you're constantly just trying to keep one step ahead of nature. My heart goes out to everyone doing it tough right now ❤️

I’m in utility vegetation management but I went to school for social work. I interned at a homeless shelter and you wouldn’t believe how people get here. One resident I met had a PhD and was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He suffered a mental breakdown and had no family so he went to the streets. Don’t think that homelessness can’t happen to you.

So maybe they resent not getting their due from the homeless. Talk about entitled.

While I slept in my car in SoCal in the winter it was so cold that my phone would shut off. It sucked because I needed it for work. Yes I was still working full time. Making 1500 a week and still unable to save up enough to get a place on my own, everything started breaking down in my car. Tires, battery, etc living in your car is a lot of wear and tear. I could never save up then after the pandemic my job dried up and now I’m back to making 1900 a month. I never got out of homelessnesses. I feel like a failure. I have to go back to sleeping in my car because couch surfing with my sister and her narcissist husband is impossible. I’ll have to keep fighting and now that they started criminalizing sleeping in your car again… let’s see how I fare. You don’t know cold until you’ve been homeless and cold. That’s bone cold. There has historically been more public housing and we have a nationwide housing shortage of housing especially housing that people who earn less can afford. And zoning, and Nimby's. And also just abandoning mentally ill people in the 80s, thanks Reagan.

Very disheartening to see. Myself I don't have much but I sleep indoors on a mattress, have a blanket, have heat, can take a shower, use the bathroom, make a cup of coffee. We too much take things for granted. These people have nothing; meanwhile billions going to other countries. Address the problems here first, and I recently read that over 40,000 of our nation's Veterans are homeless. I gave a lousy $5 to a woman sitting on the sidewalk outside 7-11. I pray for them all. I try.

They don't want the homeless around, but they don't want to help them into housing if it requires having those...THINGS near them.

So are they saying drug addiction, trauma and mental illness is more acceptable if they are left sleeping in the dirt and snow, and have no bathroom?
It's far more humane and hygienic and better for society and them if they have a tiny home. It's cheaper, cleaner and kinder.
Many of these people have been severely traumatized and abused. Some have been traffic. Many have gone through unspeakable atrocities or prolonged terrible abuse.
Many have mental illnesses. Oftentimes they grew up in horror and never taught anything or shown any love or care.
They are worth just as much to God as anybody else.
Did Jesus make people earn kindness and love?
Yes preach repentance and salvation but provide love and mercy too. Immediately.
Small 8x8 homes built out of concrete blocks so that they last forever with a bed and dresser and shower and bathrooms on sight. And dumpsters on site. No junk or garbage allowed outside the tiny homes. Remove all garbage every evening.
They are not more sinful than than the people that have a roof over their head.

I brought some expensive speakers dirt cheap from Goodwill Online in California. The rain was so bad it delayed my delivery for a week! Shows the rain was NOT PLAYING! Buildings flooded. UPS and FedEx also delayed deliveries. I say this to illustrate this rain must have been unusually bad. Now imagine living unprotected in a makeshift abode enduring killer rain. That had to be hell. When God himself ruins a homeless encampment there is no one to sue. The really sad part is down to a person when they talked of fears they'd get sick due to prolonged rain exposure, you could hear the fear break the timber \ cadence of their voices. That fear is REAL!
