The sad thing is that so much o Tapestry was before video was so prevalent. There may be a MIdnight Special here or there, but we will always have this magnificent album? Welcome Maggie to yet another furry rodents humble abode.....
Love Carole King. This song was performed by the Shirelles (pronounced Cher-ells). They had another hit in 1962 called „Soldier Boy“. Worth a listen to get that early feel of what music was like back then….I too am a Soldier Boy who happened to have retired in 2000 after 24 years. Later…..

Hi Maggie, if I found myself stranded on a desert island and had only 5 albums for the rest of my life, Tapestry would be one of them. Also, her song "You've got a Friend" written for her friend James Taylor after she heard his "Fire and Rain" are two of my absolute favourites. If you get a chance please have a listen to both with fire and rain first. Loving your reactions.
I agree she does that well, but actually prefer the James Taylor version over hers though. I have about 5 favorites of hers, not just 1, but at times, Smackwater Jack hits high on the list for its simple, yet slightly humorous storyline.
@@puldspulds5798 Nothing to be sorry for ... I just wholeheartedly disagree. Of course, however, you ARE entitled to YOUR opinion too. I just think his is better sung, better played, more soulful AND CK even plays on the album (just not the song) so, you get the best of both worlds. As I said before, so don't get me wrong, I LOVE Carole's songs and USUALLY love her versions over other artists covers but, and it's a BIG BUTT, on this song in particular, I prefer James' vocals, phrasing, guitarwork and the backing vocals and instruments.
As I'm sure you know, you sing in a lower pitch than Carole King so it gives you a bit of a jazzier vibe. Very nice. I very much like covers that are not clones, and you add some vibrato that she never attempted, which is also cool. However, the writing is awsome.
It is noteworthy (as Carol has frequently mentioned herself), that amazing song lyrics written for a female perspective were written by her male partner and lyricist (and ex-husband), Jerry Goffin) as seen in the songs, "Natural Woman" & "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow"
Carole did NOT write "Killing Me Softly". Although, it kinda sounds like a song she would write. "Killing Me Softly with His Song" is a song composed by Charles Fox with lyrics by Norman Gimbel. The lyrics were written in collaboration with Lori Lieberman after she was inspired by a Don McLean performance in late 1971.
Carole King is the greatest female songwriter of all time. However Lori Lieberman wrote Killing Me Softly. My favorite version of Will you still love me is Amy Winehouse.
I don't think that Carole was sick that day. She pretty much sounds like that always, only the "spo - ken" was a bit unusual. Carole King has a very nice, very likable singing voice although or maybe even because it isn't perfect. It doesn't overwhelm the listener, it always feels comfortable and inviting to sing along to. Her world-class strength however, is her songwriting. She wrote songs simple enough for anybody to understand musically, but complicated enough to stand out from the mass and not get boring after repeated listens. Also, her music always matches and supports the lyrics.
Have you ever considered reacting to The Carpenters We've Only Just Begun or Bjork's Human Behavior? I really want to hear your thoughts on Bjork. I'd like to sponser her video.....Army of Me is also a showstopper.
You said she sounded "sick" - that's the way her voice is, even when she's speaking. It's just her. Also, the version the Shirelles made famous actually had a much faster beat, they're like two completely different songs. Cool.
I disagree. I think her voice sounds the same, but the "breaks" in her delivery is what I think Maggie was talking about, and that's not like Carole ... at least not on her albums.
Clearly see a student versus a teacher need to work on breath control end in tone you rush through it do not feel the pain or happiness through your soul I did not believe your words nevertheless karaoke I'm sorry honey you got to dig deep down in your soul sing it with your heart you sing it as a play or theater Style maybe just rush through it I'm sure in time you look back on it as you'll learn new techniques and master your craft keep up the good work

Carole King is amazing. She is the definition of a phenomenal female singer/songwriter. And you did a wonderful job on this, Carole would applaud you!
Produced one of the greatest albums of all time - Tapestry
The sad thing is that so much o Tapestry was before video was so prevalent. There may be a MIdnight Special here or there, but we will always have this magnificent album? Welcome Maggie to yet another furry rodents humble abode.....
Just about every song out there she's written that lady is a genius a musical genius and she can sing on top of all that
Maggie Darling, you are so talented! If you can do justice to this song, you know you are good! You are Honey!
Carole king…the living singer/songwriter legend. Ok now - cool renditions 👍🏼
She wrote music to accompany several of Maurice Sendak's children's book such as Chicken Soup with Rice. Our kids loved them. We loved them.

Tapestry was the first cassette I ever owned, shortly after it came out
.
It was a good album.

Carole King is one of the founding Mother's of pop rock n roll.
Beautiful singing, MISS MAGGIE! The TAPESTRY album was my favorite. Thank you so much for your reaction to the great Carol!😊
Carole King along with Carly Simon war megastars singer/songwriter during the 7os
Carol King is arguably the best female singer/songwriter in history. I love her music.❤

You sound great singing pop songs! I'm shook!
Pleasant Valley Sunday, sung by the Monkees, was one of hers
My favorite of hers is You've Got a Friend, which is achingly beautiful.

@@StevesFunhousesorry man king owns ygaf….its the source, pure magic, soul,no one comes close to her and I bet Taylor would agree with me.

She did a Christmas special on PBS and omg ... Yeah.
THANK YOU for giving Carole King her DUE !!!!!

so many great songs came out of the Brill Building
Love you Maggie Renee!
Lol you need another red bull. ❤ i love my red bull. But i think we would talk each others ear off. Love your personality

I always thought Roberta Flack wrote that
Carole King is the greatest female songwriter of all time. However Lori Lieberman wrote Killing Me Softly. My favorite version of Will you still love me is Amy Winehouse.
Tim Foust of Voiceplay has recently dropped a cover of Will you Still Love Me, Tomorrow.
Home Free, Not Voiceplay....doh.
This is her song from the 1950's .......Tapestry songs from 1970 might be more familiar
Carole king did not write Killing Me Softly With His Song.
You are terrific musician.

Since you're doing Carole King you might try another woman Singer/Songwriter who was gone too soon, Laura Nyro.
you should look up Jackie Avancho she's an amazing singer
Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro. At the very top.
I didn't think Carol King had any connection to Killing Me Softly.
She didn't.

Olá Maggie, boa noite. Na minha opinião, you ve got a friend é a música mais linda da Carole.
Also "It's Too Late" off of Tapestry is another great song of hers.

Olá Sue. Boa noite. Sim, esta também é uma belíssima canção.
You said she sounded "sick" - that's the way her voice is, even when she's speaking. It's just her. Also, the version the Shirelles made famous actually had a much faster beat, they're like two completely different songs. Cool.

Please react to Jessie J's Killing me Softly from Singer 2018.
you are so sweet you are funny and you r voice is soooooo good im such a fan i know that sounds dumb

I’m confused… Why are we watching you sing?
It faster on the album
She always has a very nasal tone, and breaks some words on purpose to express the trembling of a young woman who is a little scared.
Shi relles.
That nasality is her regular singing voice

Doesn't sound like you were impressed with her. Oh, well.
Its difficult to hear a musician say shes never heard of posibly the most prolific composer of the last century without shame. Poor show.
