I’m glad you talked about being able to trace with the reference tool. You didn’t mention that in the first video. Good tutorial, and thanks for helping us in our art journey using Krita.
Thank you so much, I've been working with references only by directly pasting them on the canvas, never knew how to isolate them as reference. This changes everything
Outstanding tutorial! I have been binging on your videos and man have you taught me a lot about Krita. I have always used Photoshop, but this program really looks intreging. Thank you so much for all you put into these great videos. Oh and I have to say you have a really nice voice.
thank you! i use a reference window in sai and sai 2 and im testing out krita, but couldn't find the option to resize the second window i opened! so i looked it up and this helped ^^
Very handy tool. I use this all time, and it makes life so much easier! Edit: apparently people are trying to leave comments but I'm not seeing them. If you any questions/etc please let me know on my community page, or join odysee and leave me some comments there. :)
when i click the "tool options" i dont see the plus symbol and all that. even after reseting my settings, the only tool options i see are options for "brush smoothing". is there any way to make the plus buttons for layers appear? EDIT: NVM IM STUPID, i didnt click the pin button. ill keep this comment on anyway to boost the algorythm.
Hello. “Tool options” doesn’t show up for me for some reason. I just see the layers over there. I really want to use the tracing tool. How do I fix this?
When I add an image with this tool it wants to put it on the top layer and when I go to move it Krita unselects the image and tries to draw on the layer
the video was very useful, thank you! And you're also very cute >//< And if you can, please help me. When I insert a reference and reduce its transparency, I try to draw over it, but behind my pen there are a bunch of small squares that cover the reference itself and it becomes very inconvenient to draw I'm not copying, I'm just checking the correct proportions
It sounds like its transparent, but the background of your canvas is also transparent and letting the checkboard be seen through the image. Make a solid color layer, keep that at the bottom, and you should be able to draw through the ref image. I did this recently myself to study the scale of things :)
@@JustCallMeInsane Thanks for your prompt answer. I was afraid of moving the big one and missing the mark. I found a workaround by selecting all and then de-selecting the larger. Cheers!

Thanks, I never knew it could do that, no idea what I thought the little pin tool did

Thank you for making this video been struggling interacting with reference image 👍
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I messed up one of my actual pictures using it as a layer and I needing something like this lol
Thank you, now I can use references within the same window like a normal person XD
The Tera screenshots folder caught my eye 😮
Miss that game so much. XD
I miss my screenshots xD. There's private servers tho. A well known one is Menma's Tera.. recently renamed tho.
@@Mteo_J they had a lot of beautiful places in that game.
@@JustCallMeInsane For sure. One of the places that come to mind is Scythera* Fae. the colorful place.
i really enjoyed your batman impression lol also this was extremely helpful!
THANK YOU

Whats odysee?
@@rewguy8373 An alternative video hosting site. It's small in comparison to UA-cam but it doesn't have all the issues YT has.

Aw thank you XD you're not stupid!! It happens. I wont share how often I do this myself ;>>
It will be good if they add a pin option for the reference images.. so that it stays on the screen without moving every time i move the canvas..
@@Sujeet-i3t omg I'd love that! You can actually request features on their forum or place a bug for them :)
Thanks!
This is fantastic!
Whenever im trying to trace over a refference picture it just moves the refference, somone has a solution?
You may still be stuck on the reference tool. Make sure the brush is activated
I have this same problem. How might I fix it?
Great video. When you selected both images in a box, how did you do that. I heard you click the keyboard without an explanation. 🙂
Oops - I did it without realizing I didn't explain! Just Shift + Click all the ones you want to select :)
Thank youwu
Hello. “Tool options” doesn’t show up for me for some reason. I just see the layers over there. I really want to use the tracing tool. How do I fix this?
Go to settings -> dockers -> tool options at the bottom :)
Is there anyway to mirror or flip the reference image?
Yes, just right click on the reference image, go to transform and you can flip it :)
When I add an image with this tool it wants to put it on the top layer and when I go to move it Krita unselects the image and tries to draw on the layer
You need to make sure the reference image tool is activated. It should not be on a layer at all.

Why my tool option is different
Maybe you have the wrong tool selected?
Hi! Cool tutorial. I have this problem: I can't pick a small reference when it's "inside" a big one. Is there any kind of navigator? Thanks a lot.
I'm not sure what you mean - if they're overlapping, move the big one and the little one should show up.
@@JustCallMeInsane Thanks for your prompt answer. I was afraid of moving the big one and missing the mark. I found a workaround by selecting all and then de-selecting the larger. Cheers!
there is literally no tool options, what am i meant to do
You have to click on the reference image tool on the left first
How do I draw when I’m done?
Done with what?
@@JustCallMeInsanethe drawing
the plus isnt on my screen
It should be under the tool options tab once the references tool is active.
I didnt add the reference tool, thanks!
So you can’t just copy image into Krita anymore? 😂
You still can, just need to do it from the edit menu
Can you mirror the reference image?
yes, right click on it and you can transform to flip.
@@JustCallMeInsane thank you so much, this video has been extremely helpful.
