Hi Kevin. Very unfortunate accident and the details following with your recoveries. Nice to hear of some of your other stories of better moments on Sao Miguel.
Hi John, For the most part, my memories of Sao Miguel are very positive. You could say that the positive experiences have far overshadowed that bad one. We continue to go there whenever we can and enjoy the beauty of the place whenever occasion arises. You are right, the accident was very unfortunate but it has become a forgotten detail of our distant past. We both fully recovered, so you could say that this is the most important consideration.
Hi Sergio, I'm guessing 'quebra molas' is the proper name for the speedbumps. But have you hear of the nickname that my friend suggested? Policia detado?
Sergio, I talked to my brother-in-law and he helped me understand quebra molas. I now understand that you are adding to the speedbump humor. I think this nickname is for the drivers who refuse to slow down for the speedbumps, and are willing to break the suspension in their cars. :) quebra molas = suspension breakers, correct?
Spelling Correction: Policia deitado, confirmed by another friend of mine who is from Aveiro, mainland Portugal. Maybe that's the nickname they use on the continent.
Beautiful video!
Thanks Zach.
