Haha, nice! “It’s illegal to be this adorable”, well, you need to react to “Onedari Daisakusen” from the “Legend 1997” Concert.
Lead Su-metal takes a break, while Yuimetal and Moametal shows us how they employ every trick up their mischievous sleeves to get Dad to buy them things, as they do a terminally adorable rendition of a Nu-Metal / Limp Bizkit like song.

They did the work to become one of the Hottest Tickets on the World Heavy Metal Scene Today! So you have a lot of Background to catch up on and "The One" will help you along the way!
Oh, and once you get a few more reactions under your belt, there is a very good video that can give you the back story and and some of the Lore that surrounds the group. Its called "Everything you need to know about Babymetal (Updated)" by CrypticMisery...its long, about 43 miutes, but we love watching new people get those "Ah Ha!" moments when they finally understand something about our girls!! Definitely worth the watch!
Keep at it, you have a lot more Babymetal ahead of you!!

I'm 46, I became a Babymetal fan at the beginning of this year and had the good luck of getting to see them in Houston AND Dallas a little over a month ago, and its just wild. They made me feel like a kid again. I was in emotional shock the first show, I went in knowing my expectations were unrealistic but they blew those expectations away.
I learned no amount of videos can actually prepare you, for any of it. Their actual stage presence and personal crowd interaction they do is just on another level .. in their mid 20s now and have easily as much energy as this video.
The choreography in person is insane. As you'll discover, the majority of their new songs feature a more adult (yet just as kawaii, hence the cute-metal) dance moves that include a ton of really quick precise movements that look amazing considering how in sync they are. And of course Su's voice in person booms through your chest! Her voice has matured but her lows are even more killer now, and she's grown in emotion and nuance in a lot of her singing .. it's just incredible how good they are, they were great back then, but it feels like they are actually just getting started!
They make me laugh and smile, and they are incredibly inspiring. . To me anyway .. through the powerful messaging in the songs and the obvious crazy amount of hard work that translates effortlessly in their stage performances.
    Hope you enjoy the journey!

For me as an old school metalhead, it was a real surprise when I realized how important the dancing is to me. It's such a big part of their overall charm. The crowd participation as very important as well, and the dancing is what spurs the crowd on and pulls them in. I'm still not a fan of dancing in general, but for BABYMETAL it's absolutely essential to make their entertainment package complete.

Thanks for your first and second reaction. I think this shows much more what they are capable of than the previous video.
The first is the WTF video for a lot of people, which is why it went viral and has all these views. Their are song performances in that same concert which does show that much more. Gimme Choco is mostly just a fun song.
Babymetal takes some time to process. On paper it shouldn't work, but they do so many things right to make it work.
Yes, tiny humans, but larger than life ! 🙂 Stage presence is one, hard work, so many hours of training, but also talent all around, the girls, the musicians, etc. The concert energy.
They make it work. And nobody has really been able to replicate it, a bunch of great bands can bring the concert energy. But not really get anywhere near in execution of concept, if that is what it's called.
Strictly speaking this is just an arena size venue.

BABYMETAL fans are called "The ONE" collectively and "kitsune"/"megitsune" (fox/vixen) individually.
The devil's horns are totally replaced by the Fox sign, which is like the horns except for placing the middle and ring fingers over the thumb, like the fox in a shadow play. And that was actually its origin when the girls ended up doing it when they were trying to do the devil's horns. 😁
I suggest you to continue with "Megitsune" (official music video).
    Until next time!

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 This anthemic song is being performed in their ongoing North American tour (30 gigs in USA & Canada) with DETHKLOK.
The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. In your video, Su shouted some words at 10:09 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then or she does it smilingly with her friendly voice now. The girls have grown up into beautiful ladies now. The maturity has added more attractiveness to this band. Please react to videos including recent ones to explore BM more.

WELCOME TO THE BEAUTIFUL WORLD OF BABYMETAL

  • @armitage9
    @armitage9 10 місяців тому +12

Good reaction. Welcome again to the crazy universe of BabyMetal.
BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin.
Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.).
One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born.
The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads.
And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them.
And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did).
In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on UA-cam (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. KobaMetal had doubts about taking the step, since their musical proposal (Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal, a genre of which they are considered creators) might not be accepted in the West and the metalheads who went to the Sonisphere had a reputation for saying goodbye to very bad manners to the artists they didn't like (even with bottles full of urine), but they were offered to go to one of the secondary stages (about 5000 spectators) and they ended up accepting.
But the success of BabyMetal on UA-cam and the fact that all the concerts they were going to give in Europe were sold out in a few days, convinced the producers to take them to the main stage, where they would share with groups like Metallica, for example.
How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. .
But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one."
And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well.
They currently have 4 albums on the market:
-Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces. Headbangers is from this album.
-Metal Resistence (2016): an album that, without losing the essence of the first, shows more mature music, going from childhood to adolescence. Songs like Karate were a large part of his presentation in the West.
-Metal Galaxy (2018): a turning point in its style. Without abandoning their energy, they turned their attention to new forms of metal fusion (hip-hop, dance music, Hindu music or European folklore, among others), projecting a much more mature music in keeping with their age, which was already around 21 years old. of Su and the 18 of Moa (unfortunately Yui left the group due to health problems)
And now in 2023 they have just released their new album "The Other One", which is, again, totally different from what they have done until now (one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal is that their songs are usually very different some from others (although they are all positive adrenaline releases)
Currently BabyMetal is considered the most important Heavy Metal group in Japan (I'm not saying the best, that's for everyone to decide) and the most influential in history in the West (it has reached levels that no other Japanese heavy group has reached before). ).
The journey through the Babymetal galaxy may be long, but it is certainly entertaining and with a few songs it drags you with a smile into the fox hole.

Nice to see you're back with this suggestion and now with another hit they don't wanna leave behind in almost any of their setlist such at Sabaton's Europe Tour and later at Asian and Australian Tour as well the Babyklok Tour more recently and just like here ending the show.
_Road Of Resistance_ is a fantastic power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and the album version got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, that's why some got "Through The Fire and Flames" vibes, and is all about facing your own path without looking back.
The wall of death is nuts just like you noticed, is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride.
This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015 series of concerts, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, is the last song of the encore they performed and finishing the show. By this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment.
With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages.
The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarists), all of them are males.
BM fans love some members of this band but none of them are official members of this group not even permanent, they only play live, so when you heard album tracks remember they aren't playing there.
    In this case they are:
    - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs.
    - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar or golden in other moments.
    - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP.
    - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japanese music scene.
At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too.
Probably the song will need to grown on you like some other songs that at first didn't click right off the bat but If you like this type of metal genre then you're gonna love another previous song from first album called:
    - *"Ijime Dame Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 and witness a precious and epic moment on their career. You can find that clip in the official channel but just be careful coz sometimes is getting blocked issues.
    Next suggestion;
    - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip safe to react under Head Bangya title.
Like i told you before we're The One but also kitsune (male fans) and megitsune (female fans).
Kitsune up and see you next time!🦊🤘🔥

This performance was from their concert in 2015 when the lead singer, Su-metal, was just 17 years old, and the other two, Moa and Yui, were 15 years old. There were 20,000 people at this sold out concert. So in less than 5 years after starting the group in late 2010, BABYMETAL went from performing in front of 100-250 people in small music festivals in warehouses and malls to having their own concert with 20,000 people. But it was the next year, 2016, when BABYMETAL held 2 concerts at the famous Tokyo Dome with 55,000 people each night!🤘🦊🤘

  • @Grington300
    @Grington300 10 місяців тому +33

Great reaction. I would have never thought choreographed dancing could improve metal, I was never interested in dance (I'm still not with the one exception - BABYMETAL. Their choreo is just different, it isn't meaningless movement used to fill the stage, it helps with interpreting the songs and more importantly they use it to involve the crowd).
Yes you got it - the BABYMETAL fans as a whole are 'The One'. Individually they might be called kitsune (fox) or megitsune (vixen). "Kitsune up" refers to the fox hand sign (they don't do the more traditional metal devil horns, they turned it into a shadow play fox).🤘🦊
This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits).
This was also the end of a 90 minute concert - they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world.
About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London later in 2015.
This was the Kami Band playing live of course, each one of them is a world class musician. In this concert the Kami Band were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars (Takayoshi has the glitter pink guitar) with BOH on his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.

One of Babymetal's most epic performances, and captured so well!
The crowd control and interaction! The Herman Li guitar influence / co-writing! THOSE DRUMS!
TYSM for picking this one out and getting it out to us!
EDIT: It's the right one. The Kitsune Up! is indeed a very popular saying amongst the members and The One! (Babymetal team + Babymetal fandom). Foxes (Kitsune) are very prevalent in all of Babymetal's activities.

Just wait until you get to their new stuff. In this video, I think Su, the singer is only 17 and the 2 dancers are like 15, but now they are in their 20s and Moa, one of the dancers, is GORGEOUS now! Su looks almost exactly the same. Yui, the other dancer, had to leave due to health issues, and was recently replaced with Momometal who is the youngest of the 3, barely hitting 20 now I think.
Yes, Babymetal fans are called the One, which was given to us BY Babymetal in their song The One which is, essentially, a love letter to the fans. Good song to eventually check out. Actually, really, all their songs are good songs. There are like 2 or three I dont like as much as the rest, but even those I dont dislike, I just like them less than the rest lol

As I pointed out in your reaction to "Gimme Chocolate!!", BABYMETAL is undoubtedly a live performance group but I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss several of their music videos - some are real works of art and definitely worth looking into. IMO, their best are: "Doki Doki Morning", "Iine!!" (I mentioned these in your previous BABYMETAL reaction video), “Megitsune”, “Karate”, “BxMxC”, and just recently "Metali!!" There are things you can do in a MV that just can't be done live. These six MVs, along with "Gimme Chocolate!!" and "Road of Resistance", are listed on the "BABYMETAL Top Twenty" YT playlist (the rest of the playlist are all live versions) so, yes, this was the best version of "RoR". 😉 A suggestion: take in these music videos, then go find a live version - two for the price of one!
When in doubt, ALWAYS go with the official version from the BABYMETAL UA-cam channel and above all else, steer clear of compilation videos!!! In my opinion, they are an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. You are not reacting to BABYMETAL, you are reacting to a highlight reel of BABYMETAL.
    Welcome to the One!!!
    We are . . . BABYMETAL!!!
    KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘 See you!!!
