I am 65; I listen to this record, my original UA 45 in MONO every week once or twice since it came out... I buy every original copy I can find at garage sales, Ebay etc. I own at least 20; I must have backup!!! lol Because to me, this RECORD goes right to the spine of all of us of a certain age and speaks to being young, innocent and excited to be young and to need nothing except knowing I have a life to live and look forward to ... this record makes me completely happy... it just gets to me every time no matter how many times I play it; when I hear it on the radio in that terribbbblleee stereo double tracked mix, I turn it right off. Hearing it that way is an insult, a disgrace... the original MONO mix is a treasure; it is in my DNA and I truly love all the music from that era... but Friday on My Mind and the happiness and hopefulness it brings to me and always has brought to me is a gift that I can never repay. I must sound insane, but this is all from my heart.

it's Friday 10:22 pm in Manhattan and I am 69 yrs old but I try not to forget this anthem to my / our youth every Friday. I still have my original copy plus backups.... yeah, I agree with everything you say every word I feel exactly the same and I think people all over the world feel the same exact way in New York City right where I grew up in Brooklyn. This was a huge hit. I can't even see how big it was huge W ABC radio WMCA, radio AM, radio OMG What are the bands I was in played this and we were expected to until we went to college then this was not a favorite song for a long time but I love it. Thank you for making me born in this age god!!

At about the 29 second mark.... back in 1967 at my High school graduation dinner... one of the guys brought a compact battery record player and another brought this record.... Right during the School Principal's speech..... the music began... full volume... at about the 29 second mark on the video... when the singer says ''naaaagggg meeeee" a third guy picked up a plate of butter and frisbeed it toward the Principal... SMACK against the wall... the butter stuck for a while... The principal had a real temper and went straight into meltdown... "This doesn't surprise me !!!"... by then the dinner was stopped and the whole class was told to leave and make our ways through life....

If it's Friday, you know this song would have to be played to get the weekend started! And by the way, George Young went on to produce some of AC/DC's albums. Not surprising, since Angus and Malcolm are George's brothers.

How many gay teens in 1966 or 1967 fantasized that when Stevie Wright sang about his "old man" he was referring to his boyfriend?
