In photography, if the object or scene does not require a vertical composition, why make a frame that contradicts the usual visual field. In the case of filming, it is even worse, except for deliberate and justified reasons of expressiveness, because it goes against the way the medium itself operates
The reason they video vertically is because their subject is Sia, and they don't want to capture like all the crowds around them so by filming vertically 90% of the screen area is sia singing. They probably didn't intend to rewatch this video on a TV anyways, probably through their phone
