Wooooot! I'm also turning 50 this year and am doing 50 new starts before I turn 50! I'm on board for all these wonderful plans! Let's get a Roxy Unicorn/Badger conversion on the books for all of us birthday biddies!!!
Oh don’t throw your outs away Caroline! Get a clear plastic ornament from Michaels and put them in with the year written on it for a SoCal decoration. I have seen other flosstubers do this and it is such a great idea. Stratford Festival Theatre also does this with fabric scraps from costumes each season and sells them in their gift shop. So many lovely projects and inspiration again this video! Thanks to you and Kerri for all you do.
LOVE YOU GALS But WHOOAH with the orts ;) I used to throw them out too but over a year ago I heard someone on Flosstube say to keep them and use them to stuff little pillows with them. I did just that last year and by golly, they stuff very nice! Better than sand, walnut shells or fluff. They are the best stuffers for little pillows.
It is always great to see your videos. I am using your floss for the first time and I love the richness of the colors. I am using the Roxy Floss colors Espresso and Tuesday on Needle and Flax linen the chart is Owl Forest Black Vintage Sampler.
I missed the opening day for sales on Valentine but was able to get the thread and chart! Whew!!!! Talk about stress! My chemo nurses were all helping me!!!
Happy new year ladies! So fun to hear that you are a 1974 baby too Caroline. Sally @flossysewsandgrows and I are doing 50 starts this year for our 50th year. I hope you have as much fun as we are!
You both are knocking it out of the park with your finishes, WIPS, and creativity! I’m so inspired! Thanks for the shout out! I’m excited to see your fully finished Selbu Santa! 🤗 😘
Happy New Year to the both of you. I love seeing all your orts Caroline, it's fun seeing all the different colours that you've worked on. I don't tend to keep mine because when I look at mine, all I see is 3 or 4 wasted skeins of thread. I look forward to another year of being inspired and enabled by you both!
That Peacock/Unicorn/Badger piece? Janice Spencer (Traditional Stitches) did it -- full coverage. And Caroline of The Curious Crafters is working on it (as I recall). (By the way, she did the 2023 Countdown and is now a BIG Roxy Floss fan.) Just FYI.
I love the MFE Halsingland Blommor stitching your mother selected. I am working monogamously on the same pattern and am about halfway finished.. I am doing it on white with DMC 3765, a medium bright cornflower blue. Enjoy finishing yours. I am not sure I would do it again because there are so many other wonderful designs in my queue. Happy 2024 and much success in your stitching endeavors. Anne
Caroline, don't throw away your orts! Make a pillow and fill with your orts! Make a 2023 pinpillow with a tiny finish laying around somewhere and there you go ❤
Lovely pieces! That piece that you are gifting to your mom is absolutely stunning! I just HAVE to do this one! (It's no wonder your mom picked that one.) 🥰
oooh, all the lovely stitches. Swoon. So many great pieces from both of you. I had to laugh at your 50 by 50 as I am doing 50 starts by 50. But, I am only counting my stitching not my knitting.
For the perforated paper, if you put the red felt behind it, you can use red floss and chip stitch around the edges to make a more polished looking edge.
Such a fun video. I'm so inspired by all of your current projects and upcoming starts. You do beautiful stitching. Some people save their orts and use them to stuff a little pin pillow. I just love saving mine in a big mason jar, don't know why that I have difficulty parting with them.
I forgot to let you know I finished the holiday count down project in December. I am so happy with the turn out. I will try to post a picture on Facebook soon.
Your Holiday Countdown SAL is beautiful! I bought the card pack and I am stitching my in a monochromatic stitch. I did not peek, I planned on starting on Dec 1 and somewhere in between Thanksgiving and Dec 1 I injured my left arm with a tendinitis and possible rotator cuff issues. So after Dr visits and physical therapy, I have picked up my needle and floss and carefully stitch on the SAL about an hour a day. I am up to December 11, loving your videos and Jacob’s videos. I am committed to finish it, I’m loving it, just can’t do very much in a day. I’ll send a pic when I’m done!! Thank you both again, Happy New Year to all, and I just so happen to be coming to Stitch North, weekend 2!
Happy New Year!! My new year's start is Laura's Frisian Sampler. I am enjoying stitching this piece. I love the Silver Birch and Graphite thread colors. Thank you for creating such beautiful colors.
Happy new year to you both (and the rest of the crew)! I similarly fizzled out on my Book of Days after a few months. 🤦🏻♀️ I do keep track of my projects using a Notion database that I created. ETA: Sign me up for the A Peacock, a Badger, & a Unicorn conversion!
I loved this video, but just a thought, Caroline, if you are going to finish 5 big things for your 50th, you could also start 5 big things - a peacock, a unicorn and a badger, a chatelaine, an haed and two more…
I always enjoy seeing your videos pop up! I have been teetering on the rim of the Chatelaine rabbit hole and am feeling the pull 😀. I have decided I am more likely to complete a Chatelaine rather than HAED. I was thinking a Chatelaine start in 2025. I'm game if you are Caroline! Greek Mandala for me.😍
Ohhh. Biscuit reminds me of a nicely baked scone top. Put some blue in that fabric and you could have blueberry scone, you could do cranberry scone, the options are endless. A whole scone line of fabric.
A Peacock and Co sampler is an awesome choice :)I am half way through with it actually, but I’m cheating as I decided to stitch on a beautiful green linen :) Kerri, I’m like you 😂 Starting strong with the diaries and the last months are like random/empty pages :) This year I am also doing the same diary I bougjt from Evertote :) will see how it goes …
Happy New Year Kerri & Caroline! Thank you for any other fun video. Planning for the New Year is always lots of fun and I enjoyed hearing & seeing your plans. Just finished Pretty Bird using your conversion and highly recommend it - such a fun stitch. Happy Stitching! -Carolyn
I love your orts Caroline. I am currently on the lookout for a clear glass vessel for my orts so if Kerri, Caroline, or any of my YT friends have any suggestions I would love to hear them. I will say as I watch your videos I start looking at the evertote website at everything you have available. I can't wait to see when you have more curated kits available. :)
LOL I loved the discussion about the orts! "A very expensive cat surgery bill!" LOL Thanks for "showing your crazy" - I am inspired to save my threads this year. Such a fun show!
Love the video! Thanks so much! I'm very curious about the person you mentioned with the 250 starts. I'd love to have the reference for their videos as that would be fun to watch.
Caroline, if you're going to collaborate with Heaven & Earth Designs, you'll have to come to OREGON where they are located!! I live 15 minutes from the airport and am a wonderful tour guide and have a great hotel!! Looking forward to 50 for 50!
Please stitch Peacock Badger etc... I think its sometimes referred to PUB sal. I have it started on 40 silk gauze and I need a reason to get back to it!! Its seriously like stitching a colouring book, so fun!! I am SO excited this year for you Caroline! I must know all the plans!! haha! 😂
Happy New Year ladies! It’s so good to see you back again! I’m so excited about all the plans for 2024! It’s good to know there are charts et al for the Salentine - I was bummed out miss out on the box but I’m looking forward to stitching the chart. I’ve started the 2024 MFE SAL, and AKGIT 1833. I can’t wait to watch Caroline’s progress through 50 for 50! You’re a braver woman than I am, that’s for sure. I must confess however that the thing that got me most excited was Kerri’s idea about A Peacock, A Unicorn, A Badger!!!!! My husband bought me the chart for my birthday and I’ve been wondering about whether or not there might be a possibility for a Roxy conversion!!! If you decide to go ahead - Count me in for sure!!!! Happy Stitching Everyone!!!! 💜
I have 1/2 yard of peanut brittle and I haven’t wanted to use it because I know I can’t get anymore - I’m saving it. 😅. It is the most wonderful linen color I have ever seen. Thanks Kerri. I’m framing my “Isabella’s Heart” today - it’s a beautiful chart. Thanks for your lovely video today - you two are perfect together. And I have some serious FOMO after seeing everything you two are stitching. ❤
Happy New Year! Enjoyed a surprise Saturday flosstube. Kerri, I also have the Alpine Mandela all kitted up and ready to start (mine is not the Outlander version though). I might try your February 29 start idea! I might just have a WIP or two or a few dozen to work on until then…
What a happy video! Plans and execution, eh? Good for you two. Looking forward to the SALentine stitching myself. Never have kept up with one yet. Maybe this time? Plans, plans, plans.
Tea time so, thought I would send a thank you re: bargello. I too love it. I have had a Long Dog pattern in my WIPS too long - The Wishing Tree. It has a great bargello border in great colors. Being spurred on, this stitch is now going to be my Sunday stitch ( something I haven’t scheduled before). Looking forward to progress on this piece. Thanks.
Happy New Year! Congrats on the finishes and all the progress! I like your plan of 50 starts and finishes for your 50th year Caroline. How big is the Oona Owl chart? I think I have that and if it's small enough that would be a good one for the Colorado Cross Stitchers winter camp in February. Look forward to seeing your progress and have marked my calendar for when Holiday Countdown 2024 goes on sale. Take care!
Happy New Year to all. I do HAED and have started my first chatelaine. I’d be so in if you had a special floor frame. I think it would be more appealing for me if it was for the chatelaine as they are such a special project.
I’m all in for a Peacock, Unicorn and Badger SAL! I’ve just been waiting for an excuse, lol. However, Kerri, are you going to provide the perfect green linen so we don’t need to do all that fill in?
YAY! hopefully by the end of this week - we will try to have a newsletter out by Saturday at the latest. (Sign up for that is at the bottom of our shop home page)
That is SO kind of you!!! Lori messaged me shortly after the video and had offered to send me one (I’ll have to come up with a thank you ☺️) but I am so touched that you would offer me yours - thank you!
Have you ever counted up your patterns completed to find out how many stitches you have done in one year? And what was your fabric Kerri for the 2024 SAL? And what fabric and count did you use for Moggy manor?
Hi!! I believe my 2024 SAL is on 36 ct Turtle Dove and Moggie Manor is 40ct Dirty Porcelain. I sometimes wish I used PK for everything because I would like to know how stitches I complete in a year.
Hey Kerri, your Jacob sampler is being stitched on Turtle Dove, (not sure if this was the vid where you showed it :/) which I don't see on the website, so I am assuming it is no more. What is the closest conversion color? Yours is gorgeous! Also, what count fabric is the owl pillow stitched on? Thanks!!
It’s really close to Speculaas which is why we didn’t add it to the shop and instead made it a limited dye lot for the countdown box last year - thank you for asking!
Caroline, for the Halsingland Blommer by Modern Folk Embroidery - how many skeins of floss did you use for each color. Trying to figure out how much to order. Best Regards, Ellen

Oh happy day to see your video come up... I will be sending you my gmail address to use in case you couldn't respond to my msn address... I have a large jar that I put my orts in, but I have a decorative glass jar on my desk at work & one at my stitching place at home... they make me happy!!! It would be a wonderful colab between Evertotes & HAED!!!
Wooooot! I'm also turning 50 this year and am doing 50 new starts before I turn 50! I'm on board for all these wonderful plans! Let's get a Roxy Unicorn/Badger conversion on the books for all of us birthday biddies!!!

I keep my orts in a ball glass jar. Love looking at them.
Such a fun, upbeat 2024 flosstube ladies.
I’m in on the Scarlet Letter conversion/ stitch along! I’ve loved that piece for so long. ❤😊
Biscuit is like the colour of Digestive cookies 🍪
Love hearing and seeing all your plans!
you guys crack me up. Please do an episode where you day drink while filming. As usual, your WIP's and finished are lovely.
this just made me laugh out loud 😂😂😂 ❤️❤️
Happy new year ladies! So fun to hear that you are a 1974 baby too Caroline. Sally @flossysewsandgrows and I are doing 50 starts this year for our 50th year. I hope you have as much fun as we are!
Happy Birthday to us!!! 1974 was a good year 😉⭐️ I was going to incorporate finishes into mine - but we only turn 50 once, right??! ❤️❤️❤️

I am SO glad you're not doing the MFE design in a pillow! It needs to be seen for all its beauty. Keep those collabs coming--
Caroline, don't throw away your orts! Make a pillow and fill with your orts! Make a 2023 pinpillow with a tiny finish laying around somewhere and there you go ❤
Great minds Caroline!!! I was thinking of doing Focus on 50 for this year as it's my 50th as well. I thought I would spend time on 50 of my projects 🥰

I am doing MFE SAL 2024 using Dirty Martini and Arugula which just arrived in mail today. I started the first third of January section.

You know what?!?! I think I could get behind this ort idea 😊❤
Lovely video with wonderful stitching and projects. Happy New Year to you both!
Kerri, I’ll finish perforated paper ornaments for you any time. I’ve been doing them for years. 😁

Great video! You really need to give that stitch to your niece! She will love it because you did it! Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉
Love the video! Thanks so much! I'm very curious about the person you mentioned with the 250 starts. I'd love to have the reference for their videos as that would be fun to watch.

Caroline, for the Halsingland Blommer by Modern Folk Embroidery - how many skeins of floss did you use for each color. Trying to figure out how much to order. Best Regards, Ellen
Hi Ellen! I allotted 6 skeins of Pippy and 3 skeins of South Beach, and this gave me some wiggle room for frogging 😃
