- Ever wanted to one-shot an enemy Assault Mech? Tacke this build! The Rocket Bushwacker has a devastating alpha strike of 230! This lets you take out an enemy instantly which gives your team a significant early game advantage that you can use to snowball from.
However, you should time your shots right. Once the rockets are fired you are out of ammo. So make sure that you have your target in sights and can unload all of your 6 volleys to him.

Hahahahahaha! That first game was awesome. We were all like, 'This map sucks with this game mode, they are forced to rush the saddle', 'uh, let's ambush them at our base then!'.
And the best thing happened, the team listened to us, and even positioned themselves exactly where we wanted! Then the enemy team got impatient! The perfect storm!
I had no idea you had a rocket build, which makes the ambush even more perfect!

Fun vid man. I remember owning a copy of mechwarrior 2 for months before I got my uber Pentium 120 with EIGHT megs of ram and an s3. I wish there is a single player campaign like the first ME mercenaries. That was the best of them all
I am so amazed at the community of mech warrior. As I browse through the comments, I am just amazed how you guys talk about complicated stuff, like you could be real mech pilot, and mech engineer! I do hope and pray that mechs are really really more used in battle, though having mechs irl are kinda dangerous, but I just love that idea. I'm gonna watch your vids from now on and try to learn the what to dos, and what not to dos in this game.

Whose pilot thought he was a Badass,
Team Blue´s fire was relentless,
And made the Atlas pretty Headless.
Only just had a glance at this for a month off and instantly saw my archer... and renamed it to the novastar mech.
One shot, 250 damage and you explode from heat.
Reminds me of my supernova build in mw3. 6 er medium lasers and you insta explode from heat :D

I agree, hilarious to watch you take down heavy/assault mechs that fast. And as you've mentioned before it's a snowball game anyway, so that one assault mech off the field can add up.
Best air stike dmg i ever had in a match was over 600( I did 800+ in the match). I'm a terrible light pilot and normally do 200-300 dmg but landed an amazing airstrike across 4 enemy assaults that had formed a firing line.
One Commando over 700 DMG, the other vor 400.
They didn't just distract!

Never, ever leave lights, they should be the first mech that your team focuses down. They're squishy and they have too much tactical value to leave alone.
might be true, but you shouldn´t chase them across the map and let them pull your team apart, either...
Supress all you can and if you are the one getting shoot, lead the lights into a open position where your friends could get some shot on them. The usual problem with new players is that they sit on the back under the cover of many building and this is why they die alone without any back-up, friends arround you are more powefull than rocks and walls when it comes to counter light mechs.

Hilarious kill with the Annihilator. Great shot too offing that pesky full-speed Commando at 90/100m distance!
just a hint with air strikes, in that situation where u had 3 behind building if you just drop arti on other side remember air strike is directional as arti strike "walks" forward a little, so if you drop it on other side of building they wont see it coming. i do it all the time.
I was on the enemy team in that first match (the Stromcrow in the city) and it was a disaster. The usual case of assaults holding back and not sharing armour.
Still, it was a viable strategy made more effective through enemy incompetence. I include myself in that completely.
There is some Bushwacker in your rocket launchers
Looks fun. Can you tell though what your graphic settings are? It looks 100% better than what I have going on on my gtx960.
I've been using the same build lately but with a Rac5 instead of an LBX and a light engine ( I don't have the reactions to be moving much faster or my aim goes all over)

I tried rockets in Faction play once, it just does not do enough dmg there at all, for me it has too much spread.

Good lord so many clanner fans crying over an alpha number. Rockets are one shot people. You can do the exact same thing with Clan ERPCC/Gauss combo and do it again and again and again. Couple with rockets ghost heat, scatter, and hit reg issues (sometimes they hit but don't hit) they really are only good for using up missile hardpoints that you'd never use otherwise on an IS mech.
I think the point of doing this is having insane damage with low tonnage and high speed

Does laser duration effect snub nosed PPC's? Or did he convert from a version with an actual laser?
The laser nodes are unlocked but not active (colored outline but no fill). I am not using them in this build.

i have a snub raven...it´s alot of fun ... just if other lights get you in close, the fun is over :)

Lol nearly a year later and I come back to this build for Solaris. Honestly this thing is just a tag build normally but in the 1v1 matchup this thing is insane.
I play a Cyclops with 6x RL 20 and 1 RL 15 with 3 snub nose ppcs for back up, but I have to chain fire the RLs or it's insta overheat
Do this build again. I love it!

You can do this with a javelin iirc, no extra weapons if course

I have a javelin with two lrm fives and 4 rocket launchers. I am not sure of the minimum distance though. I have backstabbing mechs and they just shrug off the damage
It's 60 meters minimum. I one shotted an Atlas in the back and killed it, but I hit a catapult and it damaged the entire mech front and back!
Try MRM instead of the LRM...

I was trying a similar build trying to see what the highest alpha I could get without dying. Cyclops 10q 294 with rockets, 2lls and an mplas I believe. Only tested on a cool map but it didn't die.

All to common. Being an Atless piolet I am abandon by my team all the damn time. I can't tell you how many times I tell every one to get ready for a push, only for them to call so far back they are on another continent leaving their most effective Assult alown to fight off the enemi team.

Baradul, @ 14:30 you could have dodged the missiles if you kept reversing instead of turning around. Ive noticed you do that often when it would have been better to keep going backwards. Thanks for vids! :)) Totally worth 2$ a month :D

EDIT: That is, if there even are RL-10s in Online, as I haven't played more than two battles and didn't look at the full weapon list.

I have kind of the same problem, with people next to me taking hits from the gauss. ;p
I have not played in a couple of years but I don't know how I feel about the rockets. I would rather have an alpha of 80-100 using SRMs and back up weapons and having ammo to get more than one big blast in. I used to go brawling with my Centurion AH(I) full SRM machine gun build and would get 4+ kills every game.
Might try something like this on Butterbee.

i prefer archer with 250 alpha ( 2xmrm 30 with 1050 ammo, rest is rockets)

weird, i cant use rocket lunchers on my locust because the hits just dont get registred and you can use it without problems

That alpha really isn't high at all, consider this: RL's one time use in a match that has to be chainfire due to GH limit, it's real range is 300m due to spread and slow travel time and hit reg isn't always in any missile systems favor.
All those RL boating are no different then a MRM20/30/40 being refired throughout a match, only difference is RL dumps it's damage in a short time for one time and that's it, no more shots but a MRM20/30/40 continues to be used for as long as it has ammo.

There is a reason you carry them, its so you can quickly remove a target and not give them a chance to fire back, that is pretty rediculous.
on eve a glass boat strategy was common, massive alpha strike, hardly any tanking ability
I was super confused by why you took all the laser duration skill nodes. I thought they affected the duration by which lasers fired at, and so it wouldn't have any effect on PPCs because they're instantaneous. Unless I'm missing something, you would get way more out of the high explosive nodes.
I have them unlocked but they are not active at the moment (bold border but not filled). I used them in another build and I can reactive them for 400XP (and no C-Bills) each.

Vagabond? Buccaneer? I've completely forgotten. But there's only two (non house specific) patterns which draw things on your mech and the other is Phranken. Two of the best patterns, tbh. I should put it on some more of my mechs.

I don't know how people can stand to run around with heat vision.
Same here, but I guess people have different graphic settings, or their eyes calibrated differently. At HPG Manifold I like night vision, which causes spectators to go "How can you see anything???" and they're baffled when I answer "It's the only way I can see anything." ...But that's how it is. GreenWarrior Online! :)
The nightvision is pretty good. I use it all the time. The heat vision sucks.
