I love the end of that first match. They went with the only correct response to a Piranha and nuked it from orbit. XD
It's the only way to be sure.
Heavy Small Lasers: SKREEEEE
Micro Lasers: pew
Saw someone try a build like this a few days ago.
He fired one alpha strike, shut down and blew up.
that may have been me. i'm still figuring the timing out
youre suppose to use 5 heavy smalls so you dont get slapped by the ghost heat. i guess that dude tried 10+ heavy small lasers all at once to cremate himself before the enemies can
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
That sounds like baby me when I first played MW1 back in the day, when my small baby brain didn't understand heatsinks
In that first game, you had 4 kills and the other piranha had 5...out of 10.
That means your teammates NOT in piranhas only got ONE kill between the 10 of them!
I can hear the tension. Nothing gets the heart pounding like piloting a light with Short range weapons
"You know your weapons buddy! These are ideal for home defense. So which will it be?"
" All. "
"I'm gonna close early!"
That first game was so much fun to watch. I much rather prefer close, competitive matches than the one sided stomps.
Competitive? There were two people carrying the entire losing team, both in Piranhas.
So funny about playing a light is, that you do your thing and are able to avoid meeting a teammate on the battlefield. I was with you in the 2nd game and never really saw your mech. I just read "Baradul kill", "Baradul kill" ... :-D
Like a ghost piranha.
BTW, they should allow toggling Arm-lock for every mech specifically. I have it disabled, but there are some mechs that require it and I hate to enter settings all the time.
There’s a keybind for arm lock IIRC. I don’t remember what it defaults to but I have mine bound to shift.
@@snactimusmaximus Shift is the default. I have it off by default and for every mech i need arms usable / for fast turning i just hit shift once at the start of the game, before i even drop and i'm good for the rest of the game.
Yep, but that's temporary, if you let go the key, arm lock is back off. I use that very often, but sometimes I'm pressing so many keys, that I forget this one :)
Empee I’m pretty sure mine is a toggle, but I could be mistaken.
Me too, I'll check it, just to be sure.
That artillery at the end of the first match, those mechs had enough of your shenanigans.
That is a sexy build. Great find with the re-adjusted ghost heat groups
Any time I see a piranha or flea while in an assault mech I panic because if they catch you out in the open and alone, and the pilot is competent you're totally screwed.
Never knew how scary a tiny mech could be while in an Atlas.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! i had no idea what to do with this mech so I never even used it. i'm going to try it out tonight!!
Big fan of the high risk/reward nature of the mech and the microlaser changes really saved the energy variants. It's reign as the nastiest light really sheds light on the fact there's a lot of light mechs that need some love (maybe revert some back to their old sizes?) Great vid!
that lazer sound is so satisfying
After lost my side torso by this build in 1 minute😱, I always bring a seismic sensor with my every mech.
I have a locust that I built with streak-2 for the same thing. Only good for keeping the lights off the assaults backs.
Same seismic is always the first skill I go for on every mech
Like the small/light mechs....looks like hell-a fun game play.
Second game you "saw" the missile boat twice and chose to go after the crowd instead, isn't a missile only boat a light mechs dream target?
Damned piranha... You stopped me from killing a oblivious WarHammer but you won't stop me again!!!! I WILL NOT FALL AGAIN TO YOUR KIND!
Wow, this thing does small/micro laser boating way better than the Viper or Nova. Is it out for C-Bills yet? If not, there has got to be a nerf incoming for these things. I know it has changed my play style: I now hang back with the assaults if I am in a fast medium or light until they get to the front line. It’s just too easy to lose one early to a piranha.
it is out for c-bills
I picked up this variant for the pure hilarity of running 15 micro lasers. might have to give this build a try and actually help my team out.
And this is exactly why I have an Archer 5W Build loaded with SSRMs to kill this type of thing,
I just built one of these. It has turned into the best mech I've ever run.
I've run my PIR3 with Nonu before. He's a good pilot in that thing.
Great build. It's super challenging without skill spec. I can see major potential when skilled. +1
I like using ERSL instead of the HSLs. You give up 7.5 dmg, which sounds like a lot until you realize how often you're firing those HSLs at 150-175m where you're actually doing less dmg than the ERSL for more heat.
That first game was GUT-WRENCHING
Pgi will have another hard time balancing this old laser boat problem
Hey guys
I'm playing MWO since a few weeks und became a PIR-Main.
The easiest to play is 4 sure the PIR-1 with its machineguns.
As laservomit I would suggest the PIR-3! - It got 1 energiemountingpoint less than the PIR-2 but got on every part some juice Armorboni and is the PIR-Tank xD.
I recommend to play it with 8-12 heavy small laser. I fire 8 of those simultaneously (with ghostheat) and finish the kill with the other HSL in chainfire.
The Go-To should be the Cipher. 8 heavy small laser and 6 Machineguns - Fire all 8 HSL with the machineguns and use chainfire to finish of the kill.
Got up to 7 Kills with these builds in my first weeks.
See u on the battlefield. - Pitheous
Appreciated! You're welcome.
I think the builds seen here might convince me to get a PIR... Maybe.
Jesus, all those lasers are like instant crits, even on assaults.
i personally don't play lights but when someone told be about this build at least a month ago, i was interested and after a night of drinking, i am now the proud owner of one nasty piranha
Studying these games to try to figure out how to light mech... when i try to go away from my team I just get shreked.
Does it matter where you put your heat sinks?
Damn, my first mech is a firestarter. I should have gotten a piranha. Firestarters dont have anything going for them
Man I was rooting for that piranha in the first game
Like, whats the point of the locust when this exists? I dont get it
You'll have a tiny bit more leg armor in a Locust. There might be an agility difference as well, but I won't swear on that since I haven't looked.
@@daemonwulfe oh boy more leg armor in my 20 tonner now i can kick my enemies :p
Some commando variants get 39 max leg armor and i still think piranha is a deadlier mech.
@@LimebreedUK I certainly wouldn't want to duel against an EmP pilot using a Piranha, but the mech it's self is a bit over-hyped. My aim is smooth enough I can eat Piranha's in heavier lights using 5mpl vs. a gagillion small lasers that have to be staggered to prevent building heat too fast. Pumping jets and twisting damage keeps the Piranha's large burst from being all that effective for legging heavier armored lights, unless you're up against someone with equal ability to hold a steady burn.
the locust can go a little faster and is more maneuverable... and there are versions with missiles and ECM, but yeah... i think the piranha poses the bigger threat.
I mostly play lights and my hands down favorite is the Locust PB, followed by the Flea. Piranhas are fun, but cockpit visibility is poor and they are much slower than the PB or Flea, making them easier to roast. It's a gimmicky mech that trades agility for punch... but if you can keep yourself in the second line, or out of the game till late, they can be monsters.
I've been playing with the Saitek X52 throttle, joystick, and pedals. It is very difficult using all of your limbs to play!
I commend you sir!
You are doing the job of a helicopter pilot... those pilots took years to train, are you showing off subtly? lol
That (well, not the separate throttle) was how I played back in Netmech/DOS days. Thrustmaster joystick, pedals, keyboard for throttle. Played a lot of flight sims then too.
I think one of these killed me today. A couple of seconds getting hit, then boom, center torso gone, and tiny mech with all the lasers runs off harrasing the team.
holy shit...i want my MadCat to look like that xD
That’s a long list of lasers.
Please, anyone know how to get the sound of the guns like the video?
The instruction is in the video description.
My Pir-3 runs 10 er micro and 4 heavy small. An alpha will do about 60% heat. Very close to my build. I think I have about 10 points in survival and just enough in weapons to get all 4 laser nodes
Butt stab! The butt is always rear armor!
#supportyourfavoriteyoutubers
You should be happy to learn that I've been playing this lately with success. Last night I had 3 kills and 450 damage with a 400 match score. Impressive.
Fear the man, not the mech.
15 lasers... Damn..
That was quite a nail biter towards the end of the first match. Good job though.
imo a good pilot is way more dangerous in a small mech then in a big one, is it not supposed to be the other way around? Im 10 times more scared of a piranha then i am of an Atlas. (all mechs need like a 15% armor buff imo to make the battles last longer and giv bigger mech a small buff)
The light mech problem exists because they take advantage of the lack of cohesive team play. If you stick together, they really cant do much to you. Get a light/med to escort your assaults... TALK to each other. A tank without infantry is a smoldering husk on the battlefield.
I wish my King Crab could curb stomp the light mechs, or pick them up in its claws then fire cannons into it while holding it gloriously above your head! You can be kicking so much a$$ when suddenly you get light meched. I played against this team where 2 piranhas ran round together and it took them like 5 seconds to drop assault mechs with backstabbing
Sry Baradul I wanna see that other Piranha's video from the first match over yours lol.
Heat and run mech
Can someone explain to me how to equip weapons to a mech on purpose? I'm just starting out and for all I'm aware there are only pre-made mechs with pre-made load-outs, :(
The first few Mechs that are available are Trial Mechs with fixed loadouts. Once you have earned ~10-20 Mil C-Bills by playing them you can consider buying your first own Mech in the store. This one you can customize to your own liking.
:D have you been inspired by my comment in your previous video? :) 15x HSL before patch? :)))
Never noticed that before but on the final score card of the first match, the last piranha killed 5 but only got credit for 3 assists? How does that work, don't you by default have 5 assists?
I already built this one lol
Any good Discords for rookie pilots like myself? I'm not averse to throwing myself in the deep end, but this game is notoriously rough on noobs, so I'd at least like to have some back up while I get krumped.
15 lasers? R U kidding? FIFTEEN!?
there's a mech that's capable of carrying more than 15 weapons but the game doesn't allow having more than 15 weapons...
so be happy you're not seeing dire wolf builds with more than 16 weapons... i was able to fit in 6 LB-2X ACs with a good amount of ammo, and 11 lasers (mix of ER micros and heavy smalls)
Whats thats smell drifting across the Atlantic ocean into Europe ..... *sniff sniff* ah i've got it now i smell NERF.
Tacos
What just makes me mad is that PGI always gives clan mechs FAR better hardpoints, both for Omni as battlemechs. I mean, the most you get with the flea is 7 E and 8 B. But piranha? lets give that sucker 15 E and 12 B's and make it the superior mech of both the flea as the locust
PGI didn't create these mechs they were taken from the Battletech lore they chose the piranha because the clans needed a 20 ton light mech and the only two that were 20 tons in the current timeline was the firemoth and pirahna, and the firemoth wasn't possible because it was capable of over 200 kph which would have major hit detection issues.
@@Charles-cs3nj true but plenty of mechs have been given additional hardpoints with their origenal armaments. So they could easily add some proper firepower to balance.
You are nuts
ua-cam.com/video/bQ7k1xTSPAY/v-deo.html
I love you Baradul But I also love seeing you get killed Since you’re so damn good
3:59 WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT
I guess you missed LRMs being launched out of the ditch on your right in the second game? Back when you were waiting for an opening, there was an isolated LRM boat for the taking all that time.
I just dont get it, why give a light mech the ability to hit like a heavy mech? With the speed it's not hard to zip in and out, and the damage is ridiculous.
Dont like Fish People small and Brocken but luckily a fishing Rod helps to get rid of them. Guys arm yourself with fishing gear and starting who gets the fish..... 🤣🤣😜😜
Kanajashi told me you can beat Piranhas easily if you play with a Sega Bass Fishing controller.
Is this mech OP? (not this build, the mech)
Robert Berrier yes.
Круто
This looks really unfun to play against... Unless you have 1 person constantly looking behind with streaks it just seems too dominant in it's role.
If you go with 10 Hvy small and 5 er micro you cannot fire all at same time, but split into two firing groups and it becomes a perfect assassin... 77 alpha. Not a true alpha because its two firing groups but is quick as an alpha if executed correctly and that will kill most mechs with one alpha in rear center torso other than a handful of 95 or 100 ton mechs which put more armor on the back... in that case i alpha a rear side torso and take half of their guns and speed, or if i come across a light out of position 1on1 just alpha the leg. It is technical and sometimes ends in a fire but it is outrageously fun to play. ua-cam.com/video/qt-lR2GXfno/v-deo.html
~5.00 this is instand wtf. Das ist doch absurd.
TOO MANY LASERS, MAAAN!! STAY AWAY FROM THE LIGHT!!!
Use mouse
Absolutely hate this mech one on one. Only one Assault with a 70 laser Vomit was able to kill it. Once. Every other mech I have is toast if it meets one of these.
They should have never brought this mech into this game. There isn't another light that commands this much attention by the enemy
Saxie81 they’re focused down because they’re so deadly.
@@nunyabidness39982 my point
Nothing brings me more pleasure than launching Streaks right into a Piranha.
This drama is good for the game.
I think lights should command attention, otherwise they're not viable, but granted, it's strange to give a light over 12 hardpoints.
this and the marauder video you did the other day show just how ridiculous this game has become because of the new HS heat management values. Should not be possible without just dying immediately.
Still love your content and I know it isn't your fault but PGI has kind of ruined the game for me with that heat change :(
TBF this isn't new. I had a piranha with laser vomit already before the HS changes - the exact thing was already possible. What you're seeing the most here is baradul running a laservomit mech that can easily abuse coolshots for absurd damage. Abusing coolshot spam or strike spam to give big damage boosts isn't new at all and the HS changes didn't really change anything about this.
Admittedly the piranha is kind of OP but mostly due to silly hitboxes on top of the huge damage output.
@@TurikoYemontoshi Yea, laser vomit isn't new but it is much easier to laser vomit now with out the heat management aspect. The risk is even less now. Watch the Marauder video. the heat dissipation is INSANE.
This has nothing to do with coolshot spam and strike spam...
@@Bigbacon the heat dissipation change isn't all that noticeable in larger 'mechs with tons of heat sinks. before the change I ran my Mar IIC with x2 c-heavy and I think 6 c-med pulse with 27 double heatsinks. had a comparable alpha to what Bara had in that video with similar heat dissipation only slightly slower than his.
@@Bigbacon the heat dissipation changes haven't affected things that much, especially on bigger mechs. Smaller mechs like the piranha here got benefits (thanks to the first 10 double heatsinks counting "true" double, whereas previously it was only those fitted in the engine) but larger mechs have minor gains in cooling compared to previously.
can't help but notice that the field of view on the piranha SUCKS...
I hate this mech
those little mechs should be massively nerfed. way too powerful.
Make the arm lock toggle and turn it on or off when you have to. Disabled arm lock is the reason why your accuracy sucks.
Hawken was and still is THE BEST pvp mech game...
You stand still to often. You should keep moving when you can. You can easily circle around those large mechs as they turn around.
These mechs are disgusting.
Couldnt finish the video. This mech is ridiciulous. Almost ruined the game for me.
Personally... I'd rather have 100% radar deprivation, than consumables.
