Messmer's orb tracking is honestly crazy, the only limiting factor is distance. Like shown here, you can do a complete 180.

The ash is easy to dodge as long as you know where to dodge. The only tricky thing about it is that the hitbox of the swords stay after a while, so i haven't found a way to punish it.
Unless you can punish it from a distance.

Great for PvE
Not really sure what they were thinking making a weapon like that and disregarding how horrible it is to deal with in PvP
I am not an invader, ive had to deal with invasions for 15 years since demon souls and i never once have enjoyed an invasion.
Disappointing because i love playing these games with friends, itd feel so relaxing to play if i didnt have to worry about having my progress halted some more because of this poor design choice of not having a toggle for PvP
Edit: 80% of the DLC weapons feel awesome but thinking about other people using them against me just to waste my time soils the experience a little for me.
