It was this song that caused me to cross the line and become a full-fledged country music lover. Now, several decades later, I hear this song and it still sings to my soul. I've been fortunate enough to hear it live 3 times.
I have also heard it live. Never gets old. Always absolutely stunning. This is one of those songs that sings to soul, as you said, and heart and mind and emotions. Beautiful.
Same. This song also convinced me to marry my own Billy. I fell for all kinds but I always knew I was his only need. This song helped me see what was real and true. Never been happier.
I married the man described in this song. I will never deserve him. He loves me anyhow. Had to call him at work today just to tell him I love him, so much.
This song besides being incredibly deep and emotional is also a showcase for Wynona's voice. She hits every high and low with a richness and beautiful tone.
My favorite of all Wynonna songs. It took me listening to it probably 50 times, maybe a week.. to learn it with my guitar. I was determined. One of the best love songs EVER! Ironically, the love of my life, his name is also Billy, and he is the same brave responsible lover, after more than a decade..another musician like me. Thank you Wynonna.
Wynonna has always looked like her mom and Lisa Marie Presley to me. Just saying. If you told me she was Elvis’s daughter I’d never question it ❤️. Prayers to her and Ashley right now.
Emotionally charged song...serves as a reminder to cling to who you have and never take them for granted. We never know what we have until it's gone. I teared up on this one.
I confess I didn't have an opinion about the Judds; I wasn't really into country music. Then one day I heard this song and I was blown away by Wynona' s voice, her phrasing and her emotional connection to the song. It remains one of my favourite songs by a female vocalist.
It's amazing what this woman give to us. So much power en love, and in every song is her emotion. That is great. I hope that I meet her one time.. Wynonna you are doing it great !!!! Thanx for everything that you give to the world
The only other country love song I learned with which I felt as deeply connected in my soul as I did with this one was Love at the Five and Dime, that Nancy Griffith did. Love it!
Omg how this warms my heart here in 2021! One of my favorite songs ever. I’ll bet I’ve intentionally played it over & over again100 times over all these years. Wy is so beautiful & her vocals so spot on. Thank you so much for this post.
This is awesome and one of my favorites!! I'm so glad you shared it with us. I used to have the old CMA awards show where she sang this for the first time. Her mom was in the audience and kept getting all misty eyed. I would love to see that again.
countrygal0831 hmm, I am pretty sure it was AMAs (American Music Awards) where Naomi was emotional, crying and seemingly wanting to be on stage with her. That was Wynonna’s very first appearance on stage sans Naomi. Amazing song, amazing performance and the bond between the 2 was unparalleled. I tried finding that specific performance (I hv it on VHS) but doesn’t seem to be on here sadly
Esta canción representa el profundo amor a través del tiempo, en la vida de una pareja. Compre el CD que contenía esta canción allá a principios de los 90 en Cleveland. Y hoy, en 2018, cuando la escucho, me transmite tanto, que no se puede expresar
Nice touch, Keyth D.'s reference to 'crossing the line' (…"over the line"...) to become a country music lover -- but as another music lover, I'd maintain "She Is His Only Need" is as far from "country" as NYC's Lex Ave. subway line is from a backwoods corn liquor still in Mayberry, RFD-- More than three chord changes, replete with intense, complex timing and phrasing … and not one reference to a bottle of beer, a flatbed truck, a hound named "Blue," or a Boy Named "Sue." Think Wy was first to know this song had WORLD'S more going for it than most traditional country. Her awesome interpretation and phenomenal execution of the piece just confirms as much. Must be the Italian in her.
in fact, I wasn't really her drummer, I was only brought out because she fired hers while on tour, so was just helping her out, then I auditioned 10 drummers to find one for her...

@@WordWoman111 Beautiful.
@@WordWoman111 That is awesome to read. His actual name didn't happen to be Billy did it?

I love their music i love the judds
My favorite song by her. It makes me cry everytime I hear it.
Me, too.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who cries like a baby when I hear this song. Dave Loggins has a talent for writing songs that touch the heart.
Me too!!
I sing and weep while listening to this beautifully moving song. ❤️
I miss country like this! Country now days don't hold a candle to country like this!
Amen

You couldn't beat this in the 90's on the Country charts. We need this again in 2018.
an instrument tuned to perfection , there is only one Wynonna
Wynonna has always looked like her mom and Lisa Marie Presley to me. Just saying.

What else could all of us wish for?

Thank you for posting this wonderful performance of a great song written by Dave Loggins! Also a killer band backing Wynonna up!
such a simple sweet song.Wish we had more like this
Makes me cry. SO BEAUTIFUL!
This is up there with Two Sparrows in a Hurricane in terms of great 90s country songs.

Diane, country or not, doesn't matter....it's just a great song. Another Dave Loggins masterpiece.
I'm also italian (Sicilian, even) and I agree. We are very passionate people (and sometimes a little crazy, lol).
❤😊🎉
Thanks for posting
Mark & I FOREVER & AFTER ~
By Cindy Taylor
When was this taped?
She had an amazing voice when she isn't growling
I like her in all aspects, even growling.
The Growling is OK. Some variety. If she growled all the time I would be with you.
in fact, I wasn't really her drummer, I was only brought out because she fired hers while on tour, so was just helping her out, then I auditioned 10 drummers to find one for her...
Love Wy!
Came here to wash being subjected to Taylor out of my brain.
What happens at 4:12?
It's a glitch in the recording or a copy of the recording, because that sound would not be generated by/in a live performance.
Probably 93-93
Errr, 92'-93'
This comment is going to get me in trouble but she wears way to much make up! Un nessary I think
Beautifully Depressed It’s called stage makeup, dork.
I like the way she looks. Her inner beauty shines through everything.
It's stage make up, STOOPID!!!
