My father was a surgeon who abandoned our mother and his 4 children. She raised us working 2 jobs as a professor of nursing and a nurse at Detroit General Hospital. She worked afternoons and nights. None of her children would of dared to wake up Mom to get a field trip form signed let alone ask for $5 in 1970!!!! Hell we shoveled snow, washed cars and did every odd job we could get just to have pocket money. She gave us money so we could take the city bus to school and that was it. We grew up in a household that was rich in love and laughter. Thank you for sharing your talent and making peoples lives better with laughter.

You know that reminds me of when I had a field trip for my environmental science class in 11th grade. I forgot to get my grandpa to sign the permission slip/form so I went to the class and told my teacher forgot to get my grandpa to sign the slip (to be fair there was a lot going on with all of my classes and with my family at the time). In case anyone wonders what the field trip was for, it was to go to the closest beach (which was only an hour away from my school) to release the sturgeon and other fish my class had raised as a big project. Like we were going to the beach to release the fish and other aquatic animals we had reacued/raised and celebrate the fact they survived with a barbecue beach party kinda thng, a day for my class to relax and have fun and celebrate the hard work we all did for those fish. Anyways because I had done a lot for the project myself (feeding the animals and doing a lot of research on the animals just in case anything went wrong etc) my teacher forgoed my permission slip and told the office that I'll be with her and the class the entire day, which I'm guessing the office approved of since my class worked too hard not to go on this trip and not help safely release the sturgeons and other fish back in to the sea. 😅

You know that reminds me of when I had a field trip for my environmental science class in 11th grade. I forgot to get my grandpa to sign the permission slip/form so I went to the class and told my teacher forgot to get my grandpa to sign the slip (to be fair there was a lot going on with all of my classes and with my family at the time). In case anyone wonders what the field trip was for, it was to go to the closest beach (which was only an hour away from my school) to release the sturgeon and other fish my class had raised as a big project. Like we were going to the beach to release the fish and other aquatic animals we had reacued/raised and celebrate the fact they survived with a barbecue beach party kinda thng, a day for my class to relax and have fun and celebrate the hard work we all did for those fish. Anyways because I had done a lot for the project myself (feeding the animals and doing a lot of research on the animals just in case anything went wrong etc) my teacher forgoed my permission slip and told the office that I'll be with her and the class the entire day, which I'm guessing the office approved of since my class worked too hard not to go on this trip and not help safely release the sturgeons and other fish back in to the sea. 😅

@@Cassxowary we didn't cook the fish. XD we raised some fish as a year long project and we had a party to celebrate the fish and other sea life we raised and it was also close to the end of the school year too so it was a last hurrah before school ended to.

Honestly, we are all more alike than we realize. It’s more a class thing or maybe it’s a regional or urban thing…but my mom was exactly like Jay’s characters despite us being white and not black. But his dialogue could have been word for word transcript of my mom back in the day.
