      It's called tomate de arbol (tree's tomato) in my country, and yeah it tastes like a good combination of sour but sweet tomato, even tho I cant say is the same taste🤔 here young people dont like it that much but since is really cheap is used a lot for juice

    In latin America its called tomate de árbol, which means tree tomato, its Juice is very tasty though

      Oh.. I got confused for a second because of the color... Here when ripe they are orange in color... And goes extremely well with soup, sauce, fish... Chillies and tree tomatoes are a wonder match ❤❤❤ 😋

    I managed to find these years ago at my local grocery place (when they actually gave a damn about variety when it came to produce) along with some more exotic fruits. IIRC the variety was also reddish to orange and had the same savory quality you described. 'Weird Explorer' actually made a ketchup from the stuff and it looks and sounds pretty good!

    I really want to try that but sadly in my state (Nebraska) we don’t get too many foreign fruits and if there’s a place that sells it it’s probably not as fresh but I’d still love trying it

    We use that fruit a lot... I thought it only existed here in Meghalaya, India. We boil it or roast it until its soft... Peel the skin and mix it with finely chopped shallots and chilli peppers.

      Lmao I know what the slang word means, but almost never hear it used that way in my country. I thought you meant the Kiwi fruit so I was really confused for a min, and then when the person above me mentioned marmite I understood 🤦‍♀️

      I grew up eating it in New Zealand, but the were always eaten with sugar sprinkled on top, I've never heard of having it on toast

    i tried a fruit that "bled" too, it was a plumcot (plum/apricot hybrid) of some type and it was green on the outside. definitely did not expect the dark red interior! when i started cutting it gently to eat, dark red juice was everywhere. it was one of the most enjoyable fruits i've ever had.

    Here in indonesia, we call it "dutch eggplant" 😂 we just peel and blend it, serve it as a juice. With lots of sugar ofcourse.

    These are very popular here in nz, we cut it into slices, put sugar on it and fridge it for an hour before eating! Ive never seen any of it on toast here though

    In Jamaica we call it "braka tomatis". I've only had it in the Blue Mountains so maybe it's known differently elsewhere locally :)

    OMG we have 3 trees of it. In our hometown we call it “Tree Brinjal” but in other parts of my country 🇳🇵they are mostly known as “Tree Tomato”. During its season we eat it daily by making its sour and spicy pickle and we also preserve it for off-season in both spicy and sweet version of pickles.

    Yep... We used to make a spicy sause.... Si so yummy😋😋... In my country we call it something like tree's tomato (literal translation) we have a couple of trees in our backyard.. 😊😊

    Australians and New Zealanders will spread anything on toast. They have a snack called fairy bread. They don’t cook the bread, they just put butter and sprinkles on it

    In Indonesia we call it *'Terong Belanda'* . _Trans:_ *_Dutch Eggplant_* , actually this plant is not from Netherlands, but it's native to South America (Andes).
    Red Tamarillo is a perfect fruit for making juice!

    The name was changed from tree tomato by NZ to sound more exotic, they also did this to kiwi fruit to make it more marketable as no one want to buy hairy gooseberry

    I saw somebody say it’s tomate de árbol (which means tree tomato), and if it is then I’ve had it a lot before. I’ve never had the straight up fruit, but in Colombia (where I’m from) it’s very cheap and thus it’s very commonly used to make juice. It’s really good in a powdered milk-based juice!

    We make chutney with it, our variety is extremely maroon and sour. Can also make jam with jaggery, absolutely delicious.

    In Nepal, we call the dark-brown variant 'Rukh Tamatar', translated as 'Tree Tomato' and we make fresh chutney of this by boiling it and grinding it with garlic, mint, 2 types of coriander, salt with a lot of spicy chillies - either 'Akabare' or if available, 'Umarok' (Bhut Jolokia - my fav)
    You can have it with momos, fried-rice, you name it. We consume it with rice.
    Trust me, it tastes soo good.
    You've gotta try it.

    I grew up eating these! my mum wouldn't let us eat them inside unless we were in the kitchen in case it dripped. I'm from nz but I've never had them on toast before - maybe ill try it

    In Nepal they boil this and then take off the skin. After that they make fresh pickle/sauce from it.

    In North East India we people of darjeeling (nepali people) call it ruk tamator..a kind of tomato 🍅.
    We make sour pickle and chutney of this. We can even make jam out of this.

    In Colombia we call it tomate de árbol. But the ones in my country are not that red. They are more like a deep orange color. In my region most people love tomate de árbol's juice. Though I'm not really a fan.

    I'm from Mew Zealand and I've never heard of anyone spreading it on toast. They aren't actually that popular here. The only way I've eaten them is sprinkling sugar on the flesh once cut in half and eating it with a spoon like you did I this video

    Terong belanda we call it in Indonesia roughly translated Dutch Eggplant, lol. Really nice as a juice, and we have tamarillo syrup as well sooooo good with cold water and ice to combat tge heat here.

    In my country we call it Itunda ♥️. Very good for people that suffer with anemia. Or even blood issues. And you are not supposed to eat the skin. The red liquid if you use it to make a juice it will help a lot.. but yeahhh one of my favourite fruit.. btw try it this way mix it with bananas and pineapple you really going to love ❤️

    You can try toasting it on a fire and peel the skin after. Then mix some onions and chillies and add abit of salt and it's a great side dish

    I’m from New Zealand and ngl I have absolutely no idea what that is I’m pretty sure they would eat this more down in the country side cause I live in the main part in Wellington and I have not seen them before

    We make pickle from this. I don't know if your ones are kinda sour or not but in my place it is.
    We just steam it for a while and when it's done we grind it with some of green chilies little bit of salt and some coriander. It taste sooooooo gooooooddddddd

    In Indonesia it called terong Belanda (idk y) and u could enjoy it as a juice, don't forget to add condensed milk ✨
    ps: u can scoop them first or just blend it w the rind. Make sure the fruits sweet:v
