it's more of a jab at her as this comes after these lines "Regrets and pain follow you Until there's no one to help And nothing you can do" which sets up that the girl he was pining for will keep going through painful relationships and still be alone by the end of all of them then he says "And if my dreams would come true I'd be there looking at you And as you start to undo I'll hold a mirror to you" that he'd love to be there when she realizes that she's all alone and succumbing to grief and show her , her true self at that moment by holding up a mirror for her to see. this is my personal interpretation though feel free to feel out your own
