      Thanks for watching and yo.ur comment. The X748 is an excellent machine and the diesel can really dig down to provide the power when needed.

    I'm getting my snow blower today. I have a plow, but ran out of space to put the snow earlier this year. Based on your video, I think I made a better decision. Thanks for posting. The big difference between your place and mine is my driveway a the worst hill ever: steep and no sun!

      Are you plowing on asphalt or gravel there?
      Also do you have the blower just lowered down to a specific high with the hydrostatic lever or is it on FLOAT. ?

    • @X748SE

      Thanks for watching! In the video I'm blowing an asphalt driveway and I have the front hydraulics in float mode.

      So if you had to go on Gravel, do you think you'd want to use float. I just got a blower and i have to mix between Asphalt, Gravel and grass.

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  10 років тому

      lightningsmokerXx
      Yes I would still used float but I would have the skid shoes down a bit at first so that the lower cutting edge of the blower is a bit higher. When the ground is totally frozen and you have a bit of a packed base of snow on your driveway, you could then raise the skid shoes which would then lower your cutting edge so that your blower could clean down to that packed base.

    Derrick - The answer to your question whether or not the X748 (X700 series) comes with a 3PH is that it is an option that can be installed by yourself or have your dealer install it.

    So in 10 minutes & 5 passes to clear this drive way. I hope your getting at least $50 for a driveway this size. In 2014-2015 Winter we received 80+ inches of snow in Conn. Our friend runs a X748 with the 47 inch BUT no cab. Cost was about $7k for the tractor & maybe another $4K for the blower. He runs the whole neighborhood with 4 streets parallel. Approx 200 homes in a 1.25 mile radius. He plows for 4-5 hrs gets $35-$70 per driveway. Carl in Conn.

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  9 років тому

      Carl Slicer I certainly do get paid for cleaning his driveway. Your friend is definitely making enough with 200 driveways to clean to afford a cab! LOL

    • @cslicer
      @cslicer 9 років тому

      How long did it take foe you to get paid back the initial cost? Thanks/

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  9 років тому +1

      Carl Slicer Instantly! The fun and therapeutic enjoyment I get out of using my equipment makes it all worth-while and compensation is really secondary. I clear 2 other driveways besides my own, so it would take a while to pay back the initial cost of the equipment. Plus I use my tractor for lots of other things in the other 3 seasons of the year.

    • @CougarLand

      Why do you mention 200 homes? It would take 50 hours at 15/min. per house to do 200. I assume you mean that by "running the whole neighborhood for 4-5 hours" means more like 16-20 homes. Plus that sounds like a lot of money to pay someone per snowfall. That must be a pretty nice neighborhood.

    My brother and I purchased a D155 never once thinking about anything but the lawn. Now he has a snowblower on his this year and it slips a lot even with weight. I probably could have sprung for an X758 and had a better yard machine.

    • @X748SE

    I've a 72" blower on a Massey with a front bucket and in conditions like this a unit that size with it's easy maneuvering and ergonomics you would crush a large machine! Nice and efficient! Is that a 30 hp?

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  9 років тому

      +Bob Smith I previously had a larger CUT and 60" rear blower and the setup that I have now is so much more maneuverable and easy to use that it literally takes me 1/3 less time to do the same job. The tractor has a 24hp diesel and hydrostatic drive.

    I have a X300 that doesn't have traction on our slightly sloped driveway if it is icy. Thinking about upgrading to a X700 series with 4WD. Question about the cab enclosure. Do you have any problems with the windows fogging up?

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. Since I have a heater in the cab I find that the cab rarely fogs up. I do wish that the heater outlet was a little closer to the windshield though, so that it would clear a little faster.

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  11 років тому

      Thanks GunninGamerz for your comment. I guess the best way to answer your cost question is for you to visit the John Deere homepage and select the "Build your Own" link. That should give you the current pricing for these John Deere X700 series tractors and associated equipment.

    Thanks for sharing your video. I'm ordering my x738 this summer. Do you keep your Curtis Cab on all year or do you remove it in the summer and spring? I wasn't sure if it was removable easily to moe in the summer. Thx!

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  9 років тому +1

      Kyle Peace Thanks for watching. I do keep my cab on all year round but I remove the doors for the summer. Most people that do have these cabs do take their cabs off. There's a few ways to do it but most have some sort of block and tackle or hoist arrangement in their garage. After removing a few bolts they lift it straight up and then drive the tractor out from under it.

    Nice video. Did you use chains on tires? Thanks...

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  10 років тому

      Thanks for your comment. No, I don't use chains on my tractor. The HDAP tires have really good traction and the tractor is AWD which helps. The weight of the cab helps out too.

    How much for the complete package as shown in this video ?

    • @X748SE
      @X748SE  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and your query. It's hard to say how much the package in the video cost because, but I bought my X748SE new with 3PH & rear PTO, Curtis hard cab with heater, & wiper, 54" blower, Quick Hitch, 45 loader, 8 suitcase weights, 60" 7 Iron mower, and front dethatcher as a package deal. I paid around 20K which included taxes back in 2012.

    I've got a question. I'm a little confused on whether or not the x748 comes with a 3 point hitch or not. I have seen them both with or without 3 point hitches. Is it something you added or is it something you can buy from the dealership?

    • @travismuhler
      @travismuhler 6 років тому

      I think it is an add on.

    • @mattmarcoux
      @mattmarcoux 6 років тому

      700 series it is an add on. By the time you add a 3 point hitch to a 700 series you might as well buy the 1000 series that has it automatically.
