- The new conquest is thin, sharp, and has a great movement. I like a lot of things about this updated model.

Looks like an upgraded Tissot Gentleman with a dash of Vacheron Constantin Overseas. Along with quite a few Longines watches these days I'm really interested in this new Conquest.👍
haha that is a good way to visually describe this one
And also the Aqua Terra
And a little prx
the lugs look like black bay 54
Longines is on a roll lately…Spirit Zulu Time, Hydroconquest GMT, and this!
they are doing awesome
Got one in green. Love it. Sold my aqua terra. This conquest is a date just and aqua terra blend.
Looks great! Love the thinness and bracelet as well!
Hopefully they’ll release a 39mm version soon
Exactly! This one looks nice but it's too big.
Yup, I agree. This one is too big.
Agreed, somehow feels comically large on 6.5" wrist
@@5x22what’s 6,5 in cm
@@Finley.o4o 16,5cm
Thanks for the great review. What a good looking affordable AT or DJ alternative. I really like this one!
Fantastic daily watch from a respected brand. Nice review.
Great review as always. I sold my Tudor "Boring Bay" and bought a Longines Ultra-Chron diver. With its sapphire bezel and hi-beat movement...it's a stunner.
Good choice
I really like this redesigned model. Actually, I'm going to buy the 42 mm chrono model. I agree with you on the clasp, it should have been a deployment clasp with micro adjustment on the fly. The new Hydroconquest GMT got it, so I hope they'll be interchangeable 😁. Cheers!
That is achingly beautiful - I need to get that on the wrist to see if it suits me
Who’s holding out for the 38?
Nice looking watch Bruce. I did like the Arabic's on the older version, but this one is definitely a step up in dressiness. The long lugs of the old design always scared me away from it. Hope they offer this one in a 38ish size too. 41 looks great on your wrist though.
@@Danno. the previous version of the Conquest had the 12 and 6 on the dial.
Really like this one
Least offensive date window
No date, 6 o'clock date, or it better be a big date on a Glashutte Original/Lange. 😂
@@WatchesBeAwesome agreed
Looks like this refresh is in line with the new Aqua Terra models. Both are good alternatives to a Rolex OP if you don't feel the need for the Rolex name.
I coincidentally tried the blue one on at my AD yesterday. They really did a great job on this release. The old model was interesting from its Explorer-esque styling to the dressy 300m water resistance, but I think it was too niche. This jumps up in price, but the finishing and overall cohesiveness of design is much better. At least they have lume here, even if it's not amazing (I'm lookin at you, Grand Seiko). I would love a quick adjust clasp like they've got on the new Hydroconquest, but I'm sure some people find the butterfly clasp more elegant and easy wearing. I do appreciate the smaller links for the ability to get a better fit. I could see some referring to this as the poor man's Omega Aqua Terra, but I think that doesn't do it justice. You're getting a lot of watch for the money here. I think this is serious competition for something like the Monta Noble (which I've tried on), which is only $200 cheaper. It does have the advantage of amazing finishing and a quick adjust clasp, but not the high power reserve, nor the brand heritage. The Monta is great. I'm just pointing out it's got some actual competition in the price range, which I did not feel was the case before. Tudor's really pushed their competition far up in price with the new Black Bay 41 blue on 5 link running at literally double the price of the Longines. The Tudor is an excellent watch, but you can get most of what it offers for a dramatically cheaper price in this new Longines, or the Monta. I love the variety of colors offered by the new Conquest as well. The green and the silver are favorites along with the blue. My only other suggestion would be an eventual range expansion to say a 38.5mm size.
great comment!
Aqua terra doesn’t have a tapered bracelet so it automatically loses imo, but you can get an amazing aqua terra fake at 450$ which is worth noting. VSF aquaterra
Beautiful watch! I agree a fold over clasp with micro adjust would be a lot better.
I hope they make a black pvd version because I've got the older VHP and it's my most worn everyday piece. Great overview as always!
All good points Bruce and I have to say it is a big improvement from older models with the date at 6 and batons all round. I've been keeping and eye on the Spirit 3 handers as well so I'll have to look at them both in the flesh.
love the whole spirit line. I want to see one of the new Flyback chronos. I can't belive I'm seeing that complication under 5k
@@BruceWilliams I have to agree Bruce, I've never owned a flyback before and when Longines released it I added it to my watch, watch list. As a Formula 1 fan this could get a lot of use as messing around with lap timers is already out of date by a lap by the time that I've done my sums. It's great for the asking price too as you mention.
This thing is actually sick
Cohesiveness between the end link and the case looks good.
Definitely reminds me of the VC Overseas
I tried this on yesterday ,it’s gorgeous in person in the blue
Gotta try one on guys
Understated beauty
Definitely a nice watch. Would be interesting second hand
Nice!!
I like it very much ! 🎉
Damn this might be my next watch
Longines have been absolutely *killing* it recently. Great to see from a brand with so much heritage. Some personal favourites...
- The Ultra-Chron - so much to love, from the high-frequency movement, red accents, and case/bracelet combo🤤
- The Spirit Chrono Pioneer Edition - the modern Spirit styling with sexy green lume in a titanium-cased chrono 🔥💚
- The Master Collection 190th Anniversary with those gorgeous engraved numerals 😍
- The new Hydroconquest GMT - a MUCH fresher look, and beautiful colour options... hope they carry this into the main Hydroconquest diver 💙
They're actually doing very well . Globally they're #8 with 5.6% market share just behind AP #7
They're far away winner over competitor Tudor which has a less than 2% market share.
@@Mega-zi7ys That always surprises me somewhat when I see stats like that.. perhaps it's a regional thing, and Longines are far bigger/more popular in other countries (I'm in Aus) 🤔
I think they do pretty well in the women's watches spaces, too? Would be interesting to see a breakdown of the stats a little.
@@gamesetmatt23 ahh yes very true. You see many Americans saying Rolex is exclusive it's not a mall watch blah blah blah but you go to Asia they're everywhere. And they're in denial dismissing them as fakes 😆
Anyhow the stats are Avail in Morgan Stanley 2022 watch stats
This is a Longines I will buy.
They killed it with this and the new Hydroconquest
I think that I love it
Love everything about it but, I am surprised that they didn’t include the new on-fly adjustment clasp from the new Hydroconquest. Would love to see a review and comparison of the hydroqonquest vs the Zulu time 39mm!
Where did you see about the on the fly clasp? I haven't seen that before
@@chasingpenelope the new model hydroconquest GMT diver now has on the fly adjustment
Love that mouse pad
That’s a looker. Great alternative for an Oyster Perpetual.
Or for an Aqua Terra...
a very attractive dial
Looks like a Longines version of the Tissot Gentleman. Interested to see how the case sits on wrist.
The GMT version looks very nice 😉👌
I love vintage Longines quartz watches
Great review for a great watch.
Maybe i missed the information in this video or in another one but what is your wrist size ?
It's growing on me. I really liked the previous dial layout. I wish they still offered that layout in automatic. It is a clean look nonetheless.
Beauty!!! Un black dial for me!
This ain’t no watch, this a clock!!
A Conquest GMT would be fireeee.
Beautiful redesign! I've never been as drawn to the conquest as much as I am now. My question would be how easy does the AR scratch on the outside of the crystal? Is it something to worry about?
I haven't scratched outer arc on any watches. Though I've never worn them hard for over 2 years. I would imagine eventually it would break down
I mildly tapped/scratched mine on wood. No visible scratch on the crystal
Looks great, just wish they would make the black versjon a bit more deep black, it's too "grey" in my opinion. Would have to get the blue version, but already have several blue watches😜
11mm thin. 5mm taper on the bracelet? Omega needs to start taking notes.
How big is your wrist? Just wanting to get a sense of comparably. Great video by the way!
I tried it asap after the announcement, really nice design but man it’s a really big on wrist (at least mine). I often wear a Seiko 5 and some 41mm watches with no problem but this Conquest feels to big to be honest.
A 39mm with smaller lug to lug would be perfect and would work better with the design.
Now we need the 38 or 39 version so that it looks great from the proportion point of view
Exactly.
Done
I have the previous version with a silver dial. A great watch. I particularly like the arabic numerals on that dial. This new one is a bit meh…as some have commented, too much like the Tissot Gentleman. Love Longines as a brand, though.
Would love to get one. Too big for me though. Saw one in the metal. Too big for my almost 7” (18 cm) wrist. Hoping for a 38-39 as 34 is too small.
compating this one to the aqua-terra as both have a butter fly clasp its a great value for money
Screw links or friction pins for the bracelet?
A 39mm and I’m all in. 😊
I love the new look, I just wish they would have somehow incorporated at least one Arabic numeral on the dial. I really liked the 12 & 6 on the previous gen. Still, a great update overall.
Why not chronometre certified for this Conquest and hydro GMT at this price point? 😊 Thanks for the vid, man. O yes, waiting for the 39mm version, too.
Great alternative to a dajust 41 that normies all want but cant buy. Brilliant business move from longines
So does excuisite sell these used than after you review?
I really liked the previous model. Would have been nice to just make some updates keeping the Arabics and introducing this new watch as a separate and uniquely named model.
Bruce is there a big difference in quality between this and the Tudor BB 39 blue dial with the smooth bezel? Guessing the BB has the better bracelet.
yes bracelet is better on the Tudor. I belive those are also COSC which this one isn't. Tudor would also have the edge with low light legibility
Hello Bruce! What is your wrist size?
Kya baat hai
if they release a 39mm version, I'm buying one for my wife
What your wrist size?
36mm and 39mm would be perfect for all. Something that Omega got right with the Aqua Terra and Tag Heuer with the Carrera. I always laugh that Rolex can't figure out mid size watches LMAO!
I think this is a absolute winner. But man. 2k is a little steep for what it is imho
That needs to come in 38mm.
They look really nice, Longines has been doing some great releases. Still I have two complaints about this, it should've come with a clasp with micro adjust and I don't like the case shape. The case shape reminds me of previous generation Rolex's ugly maxi cases.
That's a beautiful piece Bruce. But I dunno whether i'd call it a sports watch? It's too dressy for that to me.
ładna rzecz
Idk the hand set looks kind of small for the dial
Very beautiful watch, but 41 mm is too big, I hope they make it in 38 and then it will be perfect
I’d buy if they made it with a salmon dial
that would be a great option
Lots of inspiration from Rolex in the case design.
One more negative: I'm surprised it's not COSC certified as their other watches like Spirit. In 2023 it should be a standard, and even that is not impressive anymore.
Longines, we NEED a 36mm.
It's a bit meh.. I was interested to see this one closer up since its release, so good to see you the macro is amazing. Unfortunately the watch falls short its underwhelming the dial isn't very dynamic and although it's nice there's nothing exceptional about it, what's the accuracy? It's a bit pedestrian and on the fence of dress or sports? Lume yep barely, bracelet hmm okay. But I suppose it can't be too great as no one would buy the aqua terra! Missed opportunity it could have been better.
Nice watch and video, quick question Does the watch resemble a Aquaterra 41 ?
Is this the poor man’s Aquaterra ?
Any comments will be appreciated
Keep the good work
Too bad the green does not have a matching date window...
I don’t understand why ppl review a watch’s fit but don’t mention their wrist size. So many in the comments want to know but you never seem to mention it. Same on your Hydroconquest review.
if longines make there bracelets better, screwed links, and nicer clasps.. they would dominate
Why is this called a sports watch??
When a person sees how many watches there are with eta 2842, and they cost more than twice as much as this longines, I feel sick 😫
or a sellita version
For that amount of money just get Christopher Ward the 12
poor man Vacheron overseas blue dial
It's copying the tissot gentleman with a higher price tag
Clean design ❤ finally! No CHILDISH HUGE ARAB NUMERALS!
I have a Hydroconquest 39mm and is like... designed for kids or elderly woth the huge numerals 😂
Wow the case shape reminds me of Rolex's air king
as good as a air king or date just! look closely ! well done BW!
The previous Conquest let itself down with crappy lume and nothing has changed. In fact it's overall legibility has probably gone backwards
An opportunity for this massive company to nail something special and have failed. Amazing how a huge swiss company with such tradition, paying designers, architects, craftsman, engineers and so on so much money just can't get the simplest fundamentals right. I love the conquest and Longines bit it just does my head in. Bewildering. But it's not the only watch brand that can't get it right.
No micro adjust? Pass.
They lost me with the bracelet as well. Should have used the same bracelet as the new GMT.
I own a Longines Conquest 39mm previous model. That watch has a 300m water resistance, basically a Hydroconquest without the clicky-bezels.
Looks like Longines/Swatch got smart and placed a 100m water resistance on this watch realizing the blunder they did (blunder means great for customers, not so for the company). Then they made the Conquest looking like a Rolex Datejust or something like that, thinned it, and properly made it now as the "dress watch" it was always meant to be.
And that s u c k s. There's too many dress watches Longines does: Heritage, Master Collection, etc. why does it pains them to see making a 13mm-thick type of dress watch with 300m WR?? That was the beauty of the Conquest, and they ruined it.
Other than the METAS and COSC certs, remind me why anyone would buy an Aqua Terra.
Too big... should have done it in 39mm
Nope. It's designed for men not women.
@@bigmacdaddy1234nope it is designed as an elegant sportswatch without a bezel ring and already broad case design. So from the design point of view the 41mm is simply too big. This has nothing to do with the wrist size but with the genre of this watch. With the broad end lugs it even looks bigger than 41mm.
@@Watchmade Nope. It's designed right for today's market. Longines has been around since 1832, they know what they are doing. Rolex upsized their Explorer as well, because that is the trend today.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 nope todays watches are going the opposite direction. Brands launch 37-39mm watches as Longines does as well with their Hydroconquest, Master Collection, Record collection…you name it. Gone are the days of weird 42-44mm options. If you have a bigger wrist, the 41mm will fit you. But the average wrist comes with around 16-18cm. Here the 41mm option with those lug to lug distance is definitely too big.
@@bigmacdaddy1234
Just a fun fact: the new Explorer 40 measures from lug to lug 46.4mm while the pre version Explorer 39 measures from lug to lug 47.3mm. So the newer version actually wears smaller. Another weird information: the OP39 measures on the case diameter 39.08mm while the new OP41 measures 39.52mm. New models are nearly similar to the pre version and I see no trend towards bigger watches. When Rolex releases a true 43mm OP or DJ than we can truely speak about a new trend. So comes the new Aqua Terras even with 38mm while the olders versions had 38.5mm.
It's a good looking watch, but very generic. You couldn't tell the difference between this and say a aquaterra from a distance. Where as the old conquest was a design of it's own.
Unfinished watch, I'm gonna wait until they make it better.
I hate this watch. Not because it's bad, not at all. Because it's awesome and only in 41 mm, not 39 mm. What were they thinking????
looks to much like a datejust... i mean COME ON
37.5 mm please
