sy jg peranakan tapi bukan dr melaka tapi dr semarang jawa tengah indonesia.. menurut catatan lelulur sy dtg dr guangzhou ke jawa bersama laksama zheng he ..dan tidak kembali ke China ..maka lahirlah budaya pecinan di semarang pekalongan dan lasem semua itu terletak di pantai utara pulau jawa.. bedanya ...peranakan jawa hanya pinter basa jawa dn kdg basa hokkien ..sementara ibu sy jg peranakan.. my grandfather org belanda @ meneer dan nenek sy org jawa.. jd sy punya 3 alkulturasi budaya Cina Jawa dan Belanda. im very proud of my heritage n roots ..a mtg point of east and west. Di rmh basa dominan ..basa Jawa (wajib) ingris dan hokkien... basa indonesia ..

I wish they Keep up with these tradition & rituals for as long As they Can before It's forgotten. These rituals don't exist in China today, I Worked in China For 5 years, I never seen Any family Keeping thier ancestors photos in thier home. Everyone is busy with thier smart phones instead of spending quality time with multi generation during special festival.
Please Keep these rare sub culture tradition alive, not Just the food, thank you.

yes , saiful i know ,the younger genration of babas speaking more ,english and more malay , that is the reason ,they were referred as kings ,chinese ,during the colonial rule ,also .they speak excellent english from those days . still in the tea breaks you can hear them say ,chawan instead of changkay , so the peranakan patois is still alive ,because of the efforts of the peranakan association . i encourage you to visit the ,singapore peranakan association more often ,and mix up with the babas and nyonyas ,in the association ,you will feel better and learn more about the , sejara melayu /history of malay people in singapore and indonesia .
