I grew up in such a culture in Singapore until the late 1960s. It was a beautiful culture! USA: 3/2022.

In the 15th century Chinese merchants married local women in Malacca, not Singapore.

It should be Malacca, Penang, Singapore and other regions in SouthEast Asia.

Chinese is everywhere around the whole, it does not mean when a chinese man marries someone (not chinese) would change his identity as a chinese , he will still be a chinese, not a Peranakan. If you call them Peranakan, what would you call a man who marries or take in an Indonesia wife, an indian wife or someone not of his race...... do you not identify him as Chinese . think the chinese in Singapore and Malaysia should take proud being a chinese and not to run away from your roots.
