Thank you to PB B'laster, they sent me their product for free to use on this project- they did not pay me or sponsor this video. I would've used PB B'laster even if they wouldn't have sent me some, I love it and have used it with great results for over 20 years.

Thank you for the great comments and support as always everyone! Y'all are the best.
Tom's Turbo Garage Thank you for the quality videos. I really enjoy them. Keep up the uploads!
love it!
I actually saw you at Walmart a couple weeks ago. Was going to introduce myself but you had the wife and kids with you so I didn't think it would be appropriate to bother you on family time. ;) Anyway, love the videos....complete opposite of what i do on my channel, lol.
Hey man, I think you forgot to put new bump stops on the front struts. They go between the dustcover and the top hat. The OEM ones disintegrate and fall off. www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej/nissan/figaro-2106/fk10-6084/fk10-618974/front-suspension-7772336
Excellent as always. Glad you went for the voice-over style as I've always preferred that - obviously it's more more work in the edit but we all appreciate it.
When the wrench clicks as you’re torquing to spec, that is so satisfying
The replacement bolts that you used were only hardware store grade class 8.8 bolts. I personally would you automotive suspension grade 10.9 bolts for safety.
I prefer flange nuts too, but it's not my car.
The jazz music reminds me of the old menu music from Gran Tourismo :)
Great addition to the series! I actually kind of love this odd little car, so it's great to see fun little updates and modifications. It helps me appreciate it's personality and design!
I've said it before, but I will say it again. I love the way you work on things. Everything is so pristine and by the book. Top notch stuff Tom.
Tom has by far the best car channel on UA-cam
First time on your channel and got stuck thru this episode about the Figaro. really like how you present. you talk clearly and humorously.just like my idol Diagnose Dan.keep up!
Awesome parts! My dad and I did a full suspension job front and back on our Triumph TR8 with poly bushings and KYB shocks as well. Did that three years ago, and we love the handling. And we had the same issue with the seized bolt to the sleeve.
This is one of my favorite series on UA-cam. I hope you keep posting cause I missed you and the figgy!
Am I the only one who kept hearing that "figgy pudding" song throughout this entire video???
♫....Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer....♫
Guess she no longer corners like the suspension was made of pudding......🤣
Whoa, I came back and the ad was about 75% done and still have 4 minutes left, haha! Totally worth it.
Nice work! I had changed all the bushings on my 1g fwd dsm except the rear trailing arms and it felt tight like new. Gotta get to the rear arms now.
I love this style of production/editing in your videos! I missed it! Nice video, and thanks for posting!
great job as usual Tom....that hose clamp trick with the All thread press tool is a great idea
Great job Tom. Proving once again the having the right tool for the job can be life changing.
Thank you Joe! Hope all is well in sunny Florida
Love this style of video! Can’t wait to see more updates.
Tom, honestly the tech covered here really wasn’t interesting to me, however you do such an awesome job of presenting any information, creating / editing videos and of course narration that I always enjoy them! Thanks!
I love these DIY narrative videos. Great stuff
Love this car. Poly bushing are the best I have them in my G20 motor mounts too
Its always great watching your vids Tom, keep up the great work mate!
I love those 6 point combination wrenches, hard to come by these days, I have a few older craftsman U.S.A. ones that I love.
*I missed your videos the way they were filmed **#HappyNewYear** Mitch with hope, love, happinness, and more great videos like this*
Car is looking fantastic man, you always treat your cars great. Keep up the great work.
Nicely done matey, makes a massive difference.
Cool, I have polys in my Rx7 and I love it.
Excellent as always, I like your approach to manuals :). I have used those poly bushes on my Legnum VR4, and it make a lot of difference, car was handling so much better :) Kind regards Les
I was missing your videos man! and the music on the begining, so much Gran Turismo that i wanted to play!
Happy new year!
You should use anti seize on those suspension bolts. Great way to prevent corrosion.
Excellent vid production quality. The elevator music softly wafting in the background is money.
I love your work great watch as always!
The bushings on my pathfinder were rotten, held together only by the control arm and mounting bracket. It caused a dangerous situation any time I would steer in either direction. I replaced them with poly bushings and it's been a solid machine ever since.
Great as always! I'm a little disappointed you didn't also replace the front ball joints, bushings, and strut top mounts.
Poly bushings usually aren't ideal on small JDM cars like these, they'll rattle your teeth out. Give us a review on them a little later once you've hit some bumpy stuff.
Enjoying the attention to detail paid to a car like this - it's probably one of the best-driving Figaros out there with all the improvements you've made.
Excellent video, I love your channel. I subbed for all of your DSM and Buick GN content, and I am glad I have stuck around. I want to see you do something a little bit crazy again. I feel like your Flyin Miata is now the craziest car you own, and it's so well composed. Maybe we can see you do something with really high boost someday?
Cheers from a long time fan
Love your videos .All best from Croatia
love your content Tom...keep it up!
Good upload. Always like your videos!
I think your ready to tackle Tail of the Dragon! Nice work Tom!
Very nice work as always
Great episode like always
Tom why you messing about with breakers bars when you have an impact wrench ???
Another great vid, Tom! By why not a mild sprinrate/damper upgrade? Or at the least, upgraded stabilizer bars (preferably adjustable to dial-in rotation on turn-in, get push out of the handling, etc.)? This could be done for a solid improvement in handling with minimal ride quality degradation, depending on available parts, of course.
I'm surprised you didn't do front bushings as well. I assume that's not as big of an issue on this car. Also, I was always told to only torque bolts like that with the weight of the car on them. Poly bushings tend to bind, but perhaps this is a different style that doesn't suffer from that issue. I love this little car and the small improvements you're making while still staying true to what the car is
An other cool video from you. Thank you. Couple of quick questions for you: did you add a touch of grease to the washers on your bushing install tool? It makes turning the rod in easier, I built a similar tool to install frame neck bearing races in old Harley Davidson frames. Do you ever use 'Never-Seize' on the bushing bolts? Might keep them from freezing in the bushing tubes. By the grin on your face the Fig is a Happy Car again.
Would not be good in the long run to apply some anti seize on those bolts to prevent future headaches?
I've missed you Tom.
Did you say any thing about the fig c/v joints.
Also anything about the brakes?
Wow love the fig. Ive got an 2012 r56 mini cooper size comparared ? thanks
Best lubricant to stop poly bushes squeaking (that's why they include lubricant, it's not just to help installation) in my experience is copper anti seize grease. It seems to impregnate the surface of the poly and won't squeeze out or wash off (anyone whose got some on themselves knows how hard it is to get off). Many poly bush manufacturers now include it in their kits as their recommended lubricant.
When I installed poly trailing arm bushes in my E36 I bought a big pot of copper grease, and smothered the bushes friction surfaces in it. 40,000km later I'm yet to hear a single squeak from the bushes.
0:43 Right away I'm thinking of the Mighty Car Mods Figaro up on three wheels >.
Thats exactly what I thought too...thing rolled like a ship in high seas!! lol
losing against a Cuore
Just awesome to watch Tom. Do you still have the Fig?
Yes!
I got some polyurethane bushings but they all got chewed up and i had to replace them because they were to large now. and the shafts had rusted.
I love these vids
that face was priceless!! on the instructions lol!
Ive used those spring compressors before and literally thought I was gonna die when I was loosening the compressor lol.
"Need replaced?" 8:07
Love the channel
Tom, installing those suspension bolts nuts facing forward to collect road debris and water was a crime xD
I reraly like that you returned to producing the videos the way you used to. So much better.
I would have torqued down the rear Shock absorbers when the car ist sitting on it's wheels. This avoids initial tension inside the rubber bushings and extends their lifetime.
The replacement bolts are just grade 8.8.
Nissan didn't used 10.9 or 12.9 on the suspension?
Some good coilovers
Would you ever think of painting it or are you happy with the colour? I think a black would look incredible.
You should definitely make some front and rear shock tower bars too :)
Figgy fix up part 30 4g63 swap+awd
Quick question Tom , how and you din't change the springs also ?
Hi Tom I just got my figaro and replacing the suspension too. When I got the new shock absorbers, the rod did not have resistance and was easily pushed in. Is this how they are made? Thanks..
this guy work so well it's like a dream watching your video and your so funny especially the instruction part where you smash it ahhahahaha love it !!
That was hilarious. Watched it a couple of times. Your facial expressions are the best! 5:35
Those old shock's dont look to bad. Best way to show the difference with the new ones is pressing them in by hand.
How they look doesn't say anything really. Unless they leak. They gradually get worse, which is why you don't notice them going bad.
why you doing the suspension job without wheel alignment?
could it cause some turning issues?
After driving for a bit, consider installing a more substantial rear sway bar.
Hey Tom, I bought a Nissan Figaro a few days ago, it’s a wonderful car! One thing I’ve noticed is that mines going through has a lot quicker than I thought it would, I think I get maybe 70 miles per tank, I’ve filled up 4 tines within putting on 400ish kilometers. I’ve noticed the car has a very loud hissing noise coming from the back whenever the electricity turns on, so I’m thinking that it’s the fuel pump. Does your Figaro do that? Is that a normal thing with these cars? What do you get in terms of gas mileage?
If its more of a buzz, and it happens when you turn the key to accessory without starting the car, and then stops after 3-5 seconds, its the fuel pump priming. If it is happening while driving/longer than 5-10 seconds, then its not normal.
IM IN, LETS GO
I was first a bit shocked to learn you put Polyurethane because you used FM/IL Motorsport rubber bushings in Project Thunderbolt...
I always use anti seize on all suspension parts and exhaust hangers. Anti Seize is a lifesaver, well a knuckle saver anyway, for the next guy who has to work on the car.
Did you prime the shocks?
Also, what's the boss' verdict?
Music in the background reminds me of old Gran Turismo games
I'm curious Tom. Do you still have your sunflower Miata? I'm doing a turbo build currently and was curious if you still had yours.
*Thomas, are you here?* First of all, let me thank you for your great work.
Second, I would like to ask you how much do you like being a mechanic on its own, regardless of the cute cars you have. For example, would you enjoy working in a shop that services just regular boring Toyota Corollas simply because you love the mechanic job in principle or you would not want that in case if you only tolerate the mechanic job because of the adorable cars you only care about?
Aren’t they early 90’s nissan micra suspension parts?
Edit: i checked the catalogue numbers on UK part supplier site; the figaro shares a lot with mk1 and mk2 micra.
The micra mk2 is on of the entry level car used in the uk rally competition. There should be some performance bits for these rally cars
Polyurethane bushings can really cause a lot of increased NVH. How's your experience there?
Totally Legit Gaming [TLEG]
The ones Tom used seemed quite rubbery. I don't think those will make big difference comfort vise. Depending how the poly IS mixed IT Cannon have different properties.
Your definition of corroded bolts that require penetrating fluid is much different than mine. Good video as usual. :)
Nice!!
Nice improvement. Nobody likes a loose rear end.
What is serial number of KYB for Front/Back?
Lowering springs + wheels and tires?
How do I replace the bushing in my leaf springs without a lift if my car jack can only can lift my axles?
Dani over ypu dont jack the axle
Jack the body untill the wheels are just off the ground
Then lower it till the wheels just touch the ground
Then remove the leaves
The jack and stands hold the body up The tyres hold the axle up
This is the way i always do it even though i have a car hoist
Just easier to handle the axle when its still on the tyres
Strange to see you working with air tools, Tom! I've noticed over the years you tend to use manual tools more often than not, other than the occasional battery operated impact or drill
At 5:58 i was expecting an egg to be cracked XD
Any reason why you use PB blaster over 1:1 Acetone and ATF mix?
Any rubber seals or parts will be disolved by the acetone in that mix
Why didnt you change the springs when you changed the shocks
Using the rubber mallet on the instructions almost blew my funny fuse
With the mods and upgrades You should put a GTR badge on the back now. :o)
Where do you order your onesie's from? I'm in the market for some myself.
Very good video, however you could have mentioned torque specs and which of the bushings were bigger.
Thanks man, that’s why I said to check out the instructions posted online, they have all of that.
@@TomsTurboGarageThe two with 436 branded on them are the bigger ones. They go in the front of the lower arm. The 434s goes everywhere else. 57-72 ft-lb for all the bolts. Very easy job installing the bushings and shocks. Are you going to do any more Figgy vids?
Why did u use a wrench to compress the springs? Why not the gun?
Horng Jian Bee over time an impact wrench will chew up the threads on the compressor. You also get no feel for what is happening and can get things uneven and dangerous.
No lowering coils????
After seeing what the car looks like without the white hubcaps (chrome center caps only on the black wheels), I personally would ditch them.
Tom, do you still have the Grand National, any plans for updates or upgrades?
Joseph pretty sure he sold it
sold a while ago
