Excellent precurser to all the forensic TV shows of today. The Expert began back in 1968, as one of the first colour programmes on BBC2, then the UK's only colour channel.Alas this distinction did not save it for the archives and most of the early series seem to be lost, this episode appears to be from the final 1976 series.
@@Robert_Manners Could you by any chance upload them here? Or provide me with copies. I would REALLY love to see them. I remember watching this series on the ABC in Australia in the 70s and loved it. My sister and I are huge Marius Goring fans.
Wow, he had the very latest Polaroid camera for the time. Mine had a tag you had to rip out, peel off a backing after a minute, avoid the caustic gel-type-stuff around the photo, then set it aside to develop over the next few minutes!
I am curious to hear whether you (Tudorhead and others) know where to find more episodes of 'The Expert'? I saw that Tudorhead has 3 episodes on their chanel and I would like to find more. I would also be interested in other forensic television series from 20th century. I am a historian and I study forensic culture in England. Since I cannot travel to the UK due to the corona crisis, I am looking for online material. This series is great! If anyone has tips please let me know!
I was kind of wondering about the Prof's blood group myself 🤔 On a side note, I know where they got this story -- it's the Caroline Luard murder from 1908, right down to the summerhouse, although the resolution is purely BBC.
What a superb actor was Marius. ...always admired him.
Yes he's wonderful in Doctor who Evil of the Daleks
I enjoyed this greatly at the time and have been looking to find it again for some years. These three episodes did not disappoint, thank you!
Many, many thanks for sharing this very interesting series!
What a wonderful series this was.
Thank you I enjoyed it very much.
Very enjoyable AND Plausible!

Yes it's from the final series. I have a good few episodes from the early era that now only survive in Black & white.

Janelle O'Brien Were the later series, although in colour in the UK, black, & white here in Australia. I wasn’t born yet, so don’t remember.
Brilliant. Love to see more of these.

Great to see murder mysteries from the pre-DNA era.
