Just wanted to say that this video should have more attention. I’ve been thinking about importing but didn’t really know where to start or the process, so I really appreciate you having a video from beginning to end.
@@Scrubworks I just bought a s13 200sx executive in the UK pretty much stock, only a moded exhaust, with a bit of rust. Importing a 180 from japan would have been great but it was a lot cheaper than doing so.
Thanks a lot! Really was quiet interesting. ATM i'm also saving up money to finally import me a 180SX as it's one of my all time favorite japanese cars. Do you have an approximate total price you can give me? I'm wondering how much i should save to get a descent 180SX with SR20DE or better SR20DET engine. Would be great to hear.
Well, the car I imported was £9750, landed in the UK, with all taxes paid, and with the importing company having taken their commission. Budget then another £500 on top of that for registering, servicing, new tyres etc. My car was the cheapest one I could find that was in fairly standard condition, I didn't want one that had a body kit or stupid wheels or a stripped interior or any of that stuff. I did find one going through an auction that was absolutely perfect. Type X, turbo engine, completely standard, only 50,000kms, manual, in black, but unfortunately that one would have cost at least £14000 to import, and my budget couldn't stretch to that. I could have bought one with a turbocharged engine for less than I paid for mine, but like I said it would have had some stupid bodykit on it and would probably have been thrashed as a drift car. I figure it's much cheaper to simply turbocharge my NA car than to return a turbo car to standard.
The easiest way would be to find a company who import cars to order. Contact them and tell them what car you want to buy, and they'll search for one for you, but they will charge a commission.

Like so many other small UA-camrs, I get boned by the algorithm. Maybe someday the winds will change and more viewers will come.
Scrubworks how do u pass mot with that aftermarket steering wheel
@@nathanmcdowell7306 Aftermarket steering wheels are not an MOT failure. If your tester is failing you for it you should find a different one.
Scrubworks thank you I’ve been trying to find the answer for months now
This video is perfect for me as I wish to import a Nissan 180sx in a few years
Glad you find it helpful. I'd try and import a car sooner rather than later though, prices of S13s are constantly rising.
WJL same bro

what website did you buy the car from ?
How much did importing fees cost around for you?
whats the insurance on it like?
Are Nissan 180sx’s still illegal?
That's in the US. This is the UK. We don't have the 25 year import restriction that the Americans do.
What’s the best jdm import company
I used JM Imports. They were pretty good. A lot of people also use Torque GT.
