And I thought it was unprofessional because when you think about it, you don't see a Tom Cruise or a Brad Pitt complain about their earliest work. Wow Adam is so wise and talks so well. His take on Misha's experience is so well spoken and very smart. That's actually probably what happened, the things you experience at 17 are not the same when you are 20 or older.
Omg Rachel was an open book, like I would be so mortified if that was my ex. She's so straightforward. Adam seems kinda flustered at times. I'm living for this. I love hearing all the commentaries not just about the show but about everything 🤗🤗 This has made my whole week. 💗
Adam was an amazing guest. This honestly feels like Melinda's podcast because she seems to do the most research, asks the guests thoughtful questions and introduces interesting topics, and she actually remembers things from the show. 💜
I agree, I feel like she does take it more seriously. I was actually surprised to hear that this is Rachels idea tbh. No hate there to Rachel but I just feel like Melinda is a better host in energy, prep, questions and content overall. But I am just happy that the podcast exists :) Edit: in the last few episode I feel like Rachel has had better contributions. I really like that! But me personally; I sometimes don’t like the way Rachel cuts off Melinda, it’s too snarky and rude for my taste and it makes it harder to watch when I really want to enjoy this. There are ways to talk to people and yeah I don’t feel like rudeness is the way. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course, but yeah I find myself hoping that will change. Either way I will still watch the podcast because I love the OC and I learn some interesting things as well while watching this podcast 😃🌸
I loved what he said about the show, his behavior in the last season, Mischa and how her and her characters were treated: he was so honest, open and transparent! 👏 The only "complaint" I might have is that I would've liked you all to comment the episode more, it was a great one and I think it needed more space. Now I wish we get a 2 parter for Ben McKenzie as well: he deserves it just like Adam did!
Having a podcast I would assume, is a huge learning curve. I have to say Mindy has really grown from the first podcast episode. Imo she is naturally good at it but now she is excelling at it. 👏
Mindy is great! I really can not say the same about Rachel… she is like careless about everything about the show, so not quite sure why she is part of the podcast since she seems like could not care less about the show…
I WANNA GIVE MY BIGGEST THANKS TO ADAM FOR TAKING HIS TIME TO DO THIS. I think I speak for almost everyone when I say that 3 weeks ago, it seemed completely surreal that this would happen, or at least that Adam would be so nostalgic and appreciative of the show. I cannot begin to explain how much it means to us, truly truly special ❤
Exactly it definitely means a lot...im hoping they bring Anna on as well...her part of the show the episode when Seth ran to meet her at the airport!!! I mean that was heart dropping TV
Considering the length of the first part, I thought this one would be kinda short, too... But I'm glad I was wrong: almost 1 hour 30 min of awesomeness! Thank you Rachel, Melinda and, of course, Adam for this! ❤️
The way he assessed the Mischa situation is so accurate. Plus, Rachel has made it clear that she's super close to Josh Schwartz and Schwartz himself has said the Seth's character was basically him on screen so it's not a coincidence I think, that their storyline ended up being the relationship everyone cheered for and things worked out for them. Must suck, from Mischa's pov, to see everyone else's characters get these great character arcs and her being stuck in the endless drama, I wouldn't have felt comfortable either 😐
Mischa was 16. Everyone else was 20. Of course it will not be a wonderful atmosphere. She was a kid trying to be with adults. Her parents/agent/assistant/publicist are the blame there. They were supposed to protect her.
@@alexism-brewer7829 I mean, besides the obvious. It feels that Schwartz let his personal feelings for the actors influence their storylines at some point, so it's no surprise that Marissa 's character was going nowhere while everyone else had growth. But, also, it was his first tv show, and it was pretty young so its not surprising
@@alexism-brewer7829 I agree, I feel like she was left to fend for herself in an adult world, working adult hours and like nobody was really looking out for her. I wasn’t there but whenever I read her interviews or I hear her comment on that time in video interviews, it gives off that vibe.
"You had a crush on Olivia and I was like so mad, but I had a crush on her, too, so it was like 'I get it'" - I'm just saying, you guys... After this podcast ends, Rachel needs to come up with another one (maybe for Hart or Dixie), cause man... This woman is incredibly funny! 😂
Adam Brody is honestly so wonderfully delightful and adorable. What a gem - and incredible actor, huge fan. So happy you had him on, very much enjoyed these two episodes and I don’t think I’ve ever clicked as fast as I did when I saw part 2 was available lol
If it’s not too awkward, I hope one day you guys have Leighton Meester on. Summer and Blair went from being the “best friend” to taking over the show and becoming fan favorites & id love to hear them talk about that
I love how open, transparent and truthful Mindy and Rachel are (and the guests, with that openness incited by the hosts) when speaking about their experiences on set and how it has been for them in the industry without ever denying the experiences others may have had. Adam has great insight and a very open, refreshing take on it too. You can tell they are real pros, real actors that enjoy the process, respect and value the crew and handle themselves as normal human beings too.
Like everyone, I was looking forward to Adam being on the podcast and he did not disappoint. He was so open about his experience and also so funny. I really hope he comes back to do an episode in season 2 as well, but if that's all we get that's cool too.
The first part is already on track to be the most viewed video on the channel as it got 144k views in one week. Let's see how well week 2 does as it's just so good to see Adam talking to Rachel and Melinda and sharing their memories together. I say this every week but I really wish these interviews would become a live stream one day so we can interact with Rach and Melinda live and ask them questions and donate to them in the chat.
Adam what a true gentleman for once again defending Mischa using the right words and he even tried to put himself in her shoes like acknowledging the bullying women like Britney or Lindsey went through from grown ass men and like he said she’s not a monster she vas 17 years old new to Hollywood and wasn’t protected on set hopefully they can reconnect with Mischa in the future 🤍🙏🏽 also I don’t blame him for that interview with Andy Cohen the host himself loves the drama and tried before to start some feud with the cast of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and tried once again wanted some nonexistent dramas but whatever he’s a douche 🙄 Anyways Adam is such breath of fresh air mad respect love his works over the years I hope he will come back on the podcast if possible 🙌🏽
What a great episode! Adam Brody is excellent and such a genuine, down to earth guy. I hope Mischa decides to come on and share her story, most of her castmates are sympathetic towards her and have nice things to say. Its also clear Melinda likes her. They need to reboot this show asap. A way to deal with Marissa's death is completely pretend it never happened and just create a new timeline, like what they did with Roseanne and also Will and Grace. Another way is by introducing a long lost sister (played by Mischa again) given up for adoption by either Kirsten or Julie (They were both with Jimmy). Lastly she was in a coma after the accident and everything after the crash was just a dream. Who cares just bring them all back!
2 & a half hours of AWESOMENESS! Thank you Adam Brody for coming on and just being honest about it all, loved it. Rachel and Melinda are saints for creating this for us all😌❤️
My teen crush and favorite onscreen couple! I loved how nostalgic this conversation was and how humble Adam is. He refuses to take credit for being such a giant role in this series. This is such a nostalgic era that just gives off so many youthful vibes that I never thought I would appreciate so much.
Oh gosh, he's so charming ( and smart andsympathetic) ! Thank you so much for bringing him, i hope he knows how much it means for all the fans. This was pretty fun and real and they way he spoke abut the Mischa situasion was thoughtful and respectful. I wish we'll see him again. And by the way i totally understand Rachel following him around lol
This was simply the best. I agree wholeheartedly on Brody's assessment of the Mischa situation. Hope so much he will come back again- the 3 of them felt so natural together.
We regularly did OC nights with snacks watching episode after episode. I love the show the jokes every character and felt so familiar with you guys. I mean I don’t know you but the show gave me the feeling that I did. So I’m very happy to see you all here again. Its like seeing an old friend after a long time. Sending love from Europe ❤️ miss you guys
My favorite blooper/improv is when Seth is asking if people think Ryan pushed Johnny off the cliff. "He didn't push him.. They think Ryan pushed him? Could he have done more? That's debatable.... Is he a butterfingers?"
I love how he talks about his personal experience with the show! The fact that he is still thankful for what the show meant and brought to him back then, but holds himself accountable for the things he regrets having done shows how mature he is
How is no one talking about the picture Rachel showed at 1:27:23?!! "You and I dressed up as Bennifer... and they're back 20 years later" I can't be the only one who thought she was kiiiiind of flirting with him or like hinting at something 🙈 anyways I LOVED this episode and feel like we need more two part episodes in the future 👏
And it seems to me that she didn't talked to Melinda about it beforehand. She kept it secret and ended the whole episode with that pretty loaded photo/message. Seems to me she surprised both Adam and Melinda at times during the whole podcast with her reminiscing.
@@kareeneeta I think so too! They seemed very surprised by some of the things she said. Maybe she did it because she knew that that's what the people wanted...
@@mariesophie5053 Yeah, maybe she did it because of that! And if not, and she's hitting on him for real, I love that Adam didn't fell for it. It does tell a lot about his character and the love and respect he has for Leighton, which makes him so much more awesome. He seems like a great person and partner too!
ADAM BRODY JUST TAUGHT ME THE WORD MERITOCRACY...ADAM, THANK YOU, Also - you are a Fantastic drummer, you deserve more credit for that. This was so refreshing. What a gem. Seems like such a Good person to befriend. Sigh!
I really hope we get Olivia Wilde on, cause I feel she could also be a different set of eyes w/ some insightful commentary. And especially since she had a lot of scenes with Mischa.
yes, i definitely think/hope Olivia will be on. she took a picture with Rachel like 3 years ago, so it seems they are still friendly and would be possible to get in touch with her :)

Really cool to have this two part Adam Brody episode. I remember when this first started some thought he wouldn't show up for the podcast, glad he did a long enough episode to split into two parts. Appreciate his honestly on everything.
FINALLY!!! I just need to watch your faces when you are all talking, takes it to a whole next level! And thanks for making it a two part deal, Adam Brody totally justifies the "hassle" (I mean pleasure).
I genuinely believe that Mischa will appear on this podcast. Rachel has been much more empathetic to her situation and issues with The OC over the past couple of months.
yep I noticed that too. I have noticed that it seems ike Rachel still had a little flame for him maybe, the way she's been talking about him throughout the podcast and then even in this episode pulling out the old pictures of them as a couple and going down memory lane ^ ^ she's single, but he's not though lol. It's sweet, nd honest but also a lil awkward sometimes at the same time XD
this just makes me so happy, the oc is my all time favorite teen drama and gosh i listened and rewatched the first part of the adam podcast at least 5x already lol, the show will always have a special place in my heart
Well this episode made me like Adam more. I always thought he was unappreciating of this show and what they all made. He always seemed to think of himself above them all. But this made me feel differently about him.
They should do like a whole reunion episode on this podcast. Bring Ben in, Mischa, with Adam, Rachel and Melinda. Would be nice to hear all their perspectives about the set and just the show in general
1:26:52 girlie you need to LET HIM GO. He is in a happy marriage with kids …. I know most people are saying that she is just being nostalgic so I thought it was probably just me thinking that it’s a little inappropriate that she keeps bringing up their relationship. Sis is 40 but still brings up stories about them when they were dating (Which is fine to an extent) but she even mentions her little insecurities during the time like how she wanted to go to Vegas, how she was jealous etc etc and this last bit about how she showed the photo and said they’re dressed as bennifer and says “Which is kind of ironic” and later on says “And now they’re back, 20 years later”. Like what is she implying? I find it rather sad that she actually dug up an old photo of them from when they were dating, just to bring it up on the podcast. It would have been fine if she showed it because it was related to something they talked about but it was definitely random. Any adult can straight up tell that this is not about nostalgia. You can just tell that Adam is not really matching her “nostalgic” energy and is just being nice and not revealing too much. I know people love Seth and Summer but you have to respect that Adam is in a happy marriage and this is honestly not at all appropriate. I feel like even Milenda picked up on the weirdness.
7 months late to the party, so apologies 🤣 I don’t necessarily think it’s 100% important they don’t go into the episode. The fact that Adam went into so much detail about backstage stories and stories from his life etc was very interesting. Fantastic podcast keep it up ladies
Rachel about Kelly "I take her down too. I mean, they are all lined up" 🤣🤣🤣 that energy of her old self getting defensive of Adam during this whole episode, hahaha.
What an incredible episode! Part 1 was excellent as well, but this episode in particular was so touching and just how honest and real Adam was about both the good and bad times was so refreshing and interesting to listen to! I loved it 😊
I like Adam's take on Mischa Barton's experiences which may not be directly tied to the show, but on how society treated young women in her position. Yes, they choose the life of acting and all the stuff that comes with it. But as a whole, we do have a habit of taking young stars, especially women and tearing them apart. Look at the reaction to young women like Naomi Osaka, who publicly try to express their state of mind and then grown people, especially men, just crap all over them for doing so. It's such a tough business and is made all the tougher by the vicious commentary dished out with nary a thought for the impact on the topic of discussion.
Adam Brody today remembers me the same person as Seth Cohen was between 2003/2007, it's a fun feeling listening to him, it's just the type of person you would recognize on friends you had in the school, bars or in the beach in any part of the world.
Let's be honest, we were all pretty much done with it at the fourth season. It's very sad cause it was one of the best shows ever for me and it just felt like a betrayal so I still don't feel the same love for the last season. It's like a whole different show for me.
@@sofiehultgren I loved season 4, it's my favourite next to the 1st one. And I love Taylor! She was amazing and so good for Ryan. Much better than Marissa who was never ending drama.

I'm so happy Rachel got to go to Vegas to film the show back then! She's great in that episode! And, yes, it was Vegas... Not Miami. Summer was in Newport, with Zach, when the guys went to Miami lol
Adam is so insightful and the conversation just flows so well. Such a great listen, thank you guys for doing this, i grew up with the show and listening to this podcast just brings back a lot of fun childhood and early adolescence memories
I love how Adam gave some constructive criticism in these two parts. He’s so good! My favourite character in The O.C. Him and Summer. But I remember that in Season 4, he didn’t seem as present on the screen as before. I took it that maybe Marissa’s death changed him. And now we learn it wasn’t exactly that… anyway, I love the show so much. I was growing up with it and it’s a really amazing piece if work.
The mystery with Theresa's baby came back at the end of season 3. Kirsten saw her with a toddler (that looked a LOT like Ryan) at the airport and Ryan met up with Theresa. She said it was Eddie's baby and they even had a paternity test taken. But the question remains, was Theresa still protecting Ryan and just made up a lie about the test?
Came here to say this. They really need to just marathon the entire series, but it's funny sometimes when they're as surprised by the story lines as we were when we first watched.
Wow! First of all I love all of your episodes with directors, producers, actors, stylists and editors. I love movies and television and I learn so much from each episode and each guest - and of course from both of you, Rachel and Melinda. This episode was so unique it taught me so much about the film industry from an actors' p.o.v. It really emphasized how the media always wants to twist certain comments from celebrities. There's always more or sometimes nothing to the story. This one was very natural and organic (...well all of your conversations are, which I love). It was so nice to hear you address some of the headlines and reflect on Mischas' comments in a respectful, mature and serious way. But also so interesting hearing Adam talk about Tate's comment with humor and in a casual way. I really appreciated how honest Adam was about his experience and growth! And I loved how open, and hilarious Rachel was ( as always). Melinda, I love your cute facts and admire your research skills. I adored the love and respect between you all. And just in general I love how down to earth, fun and optimistic you both are - that's definitely something I take away from this. I always look forward to Tuesdays. And what a great episode to have Adam on. Of course I hope to see him again in a later episode or season, but first I'm crossing fingers for an episode with Ben, soon! And hopefully Mischa will be able to join as well and tell her story. Again thank you for this podcast and much love from Sophia, a huge fan from Denmark.
Woahhhh this is the first I’ve ever heard “fired” in reference to Mischa or that she had behavioral issues. I always thought she just wanted to leave the show

Rachel's awkward comments always make me giggle, and I feel like I'm not alone, cause I often make awkward comments and share a bit too much hahahh
lol same
the whole sequence of Adam getting the voicemails, watching him light up and smile through them, like a kid getting presents, was so adorable
I am dying at Rachel and Adam talking about the dogs they used to have :D:D:D I don't want this episode to end
Help Adam’s awkward laugh when Rachel was talking about how the type of girlfriend she was😭😭😂😂

She really is great
She’s a fantastic host!
She really knows how to direct the conversation in the right direction! She's great!
Mindy is great! I really can not say the same about Rachel… she is like careless about everything about the show, so not quite sure why she is part of the podcast since she seems like could not care less about the show…
@@anllelafrank9590 Probably $$$
Felt like 20 minutes. 🤣
I would LOVE a Hart of Dixie one. I think even more than the o.c podcast. It's such an amazing show.
Rachel is SO iconic that she managed to go to Vegas! Love that!
Love how open and honest Adam is about season 4 and what was going on behind the scenes.
Whoa Adam spoke so eloquently on the mischa subject. Like, really nailed it, and opened a new conversation. Hopefully mischa hears / sees this.
anyone else suddenly felt a bit empty after Adam said bye? as if the show ended all over again, lol 💔
She's still got a soft spot for him, they didn't really talk about the episode but it's a brilliant trip down memory lane
I love how relaxed they are in the second half of this conversation, it translates and pulls us into it.
Summer and Blair went from being the “best friend” to taking over the show and becoming fan favorites & id love to hear them talk about that
@Shea AmandaI never thought Adam would be on so a girl can dream lol
Exactly how I’ve thought of their trajectories on their shows. The same thing with Brooke from One Tree Hill.
The way she still looks at him
yep I saw that too. And going down memory lane about the two of them quite often ^ ^
Well, she also put extra make up on ... and if you do not beleive me - watch the other episodes and compare.
"well, it's been lucrative" 😂😂😂
Adam what a true gentleman for once again defending Mischa using the right words and he even tried to put himself in her shoes like acknowledging the bullying women like Britney or Lindsey went through from grown ass men and like he said she’s not a monster she vas 17 years old new to Hollywood and wasn’t protected on set hopefully they can reconnect with Mischa in the future 🤍🙏🏽
also I don’t blame him for that interview with Andy Cohen the host himself loves the drama and tried before to start some feud with the cast of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and tried once again wanted some nonexistent dramas but whatever he’s a douche 🙄
Anyways Adam is such breath of fresh air
mad respect love his works over the years
I hope he will come back on the podcast if possible 🙌🏽
Rachel and Melinda are saints for creating this for us all😌❤️
Curls, Bagels and the sound of music - literally the dream man.
Thank god Rachel begged Josh to send her to Vegas, this episode was so epic
I always said "Hell yeah he pushes him and he'd do it again! Chinnnnnoooooo!!!"
This is MY FAVORITE episode EVER.
thank you Melinda, thank you Rachel and thanks Adam ❤❤
She straight up shot a shot. Shes crazy and i love it.
@@kareeneeta I think so too! They seemed very surprised by some of the things she said. Maybe she did it because she knew that that's what the people wanted...
@@jozigalm8159 same!! No disrespect to Adam's marriage, but this episode definitely got me in my feels...
Usually when celebs talk there can be disappointment in the listener's expectations...but everyone on the OC Cast, and especially Brody, has EXCEEDED expectations...he is truly a smart man, multi-talented, and sincere.
@@NELLISZ1 Oh yes! That does sound like she could possibly be on, that would be awesome, I always enjoy her interviews and her poise, I think it would make for great episode. Hopefully Rachel and Melinda see this, a two parter would be great 🙌🏽✨ Good looking out 👍🏽
And what a set of eyes she has. 😍
@@TheIslandDivision uh Most definitely agree 😵💫❤️
Really cool to have this two part Adam Brody episode. I remember when this first started some thought he wouldn't show up for the podcast, glad he did a long enough episode to split into two parts. Appreciate his honestly on everything.
FINALLY!!! I just need to watch your faces when you are all talking, takes it to a whole next level! And thanks for making it a two part deal, Adam Brody totally justifies the "hassle" (I mean pleasure).
I genuinely believe that Mischa will appear on this podcast. Rachel has been much more empathetic to her situation and issues with The OC over the past couple of months.
I loved how honest Rachel was at 8:09 but he seemed awkard by that comment haha
yep I noticed that too.
Best episodes by far, so much more actual information comes from him unlike some of the other ones.
Love love love everything about this episode. Hoping he comes back with Peter Gallagher.
Favorite series man, remember watching this after school everyday. good times.
These last two episodes are my favorite ones, great show guys.
Just finished the OC for the first time last week…so happy to continue with these podcasts ❤
We love Brody. Now we want Ben!
Who here thinks Adam is the most underrated actor? 🙋🏻♀️
this just makes me so happy, the oc is my all time favorite teen drama and gosh i listened and rewatched the first part of the adam podcast at least 5x already lol, the show will always have a special place in my heart
Princess sparkle in the background in Rachel's room!! She must have kept her as memorabilia hahaha 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you Adam Brody for being so raw, honest, & open on the podcast ❤❤❤
Ps. I watched Jennifer's Body for the 1st time on Sunday 😈
This is my favorite episode so far! You should have Adam on more often. I love your stories. You guys are all hilarious!
Very well said!
The actor who played Volchuck said all the kids on that show were "such little ass holes", I hope they have him on
7 months late to the party, so apologies 🤣 I don’t necessarily think it’s 100% important they don’t go into the episode. The fact that Adam went into so much detail about backstage stories and stories from his life etc was very interesting. Fantastic podcast keep it up ladies
Thank you SO much, Rachel and Melinda. I’m 33 from Italy and This literally bring me back to childhood. Can’t wait to see Ben Gibbard next week!
Rachel about Kelly "I take her down too. I mean, they are all lined up" 🤣🤣🤣
that energy of her old self getting defensive of Adam during this whole episode, hahaha.
After this, I wonder if the writers based Summer's rage blackouts on Rachel's personality 🤭😂
Seth and Summer are my favorite characters on the show. So happy to see them again. 😍
I love Adam Brody. He’s such a great actor
It would have been hilarious if at the end when he was saying goodbye Adam said "Well guys its been lucrative"
Let's be honest, we were all pretty much done with it at the fourth season. It's very sad cause it was one of the best shows ever for me and it just felt like a betrayal so I still don't feel the same love for the last season. It's like a whole different show for me.
The episode where they were in alternate reality was one of the best episodes of all time and it was in the fourth season
4th season was my favourite. So I definitely disagree
Season 4 was so bad and Taylor was a joke. At least One three Hill can give you Good New characters. I dont know Anyone here that like season 4.
@@sofiehultgren I loved season 4, it's my favourite next to the 1st one. And I love Taylor! She was amazing and so good for Ryan. Much better than Marissa who was never ending drama.
@@green_tea9170 season 4 was so bad and Taylor was an awful character. Marissa get so much hate she dont deserve. In My country everyone stopped watching the OC when she died. I could not watch season 4 bcos Taylor was so awful so I had to turned off the tv. She and Ryan was a joke
Adam just spoke to my indie band soul in regards to radio head. I feel complete. 🙏🏽
I'm so happy Rachel got to go to Vegas to film the show back then! She's great in that episode! And, yes, it was Vegas... Not Miami. Summer was in Newport, with Zach, when the guys went to Miami lol
Oh boy Rachel coming on a bit too strong...😬😅 poor Adam.. No but seriously awesome episode! Adam is the best!👍
I wouldn't want a reboot, but would definitely be down for a one time/one off Chrismukkah special maybe?
Lot of respect for how Adam answered the Mischa question.
And now we learn it wasn’t exactly that…
anyway, I love the show so much. I was growing up with it and it’s a really amazing piece if work.
they're all so human, like refreshingly genuine and aware. absolutely love this podcast.
Reboot?
Came here to say this. They really need to just marathon the entire series, but it's funny sometimes when they're as surprised by the story lines as we were when we first watched.
@@twerk182 yeah I think it's more interesting that way, and Rachel remembering close to nothing with Melinda having watched more makes it balanced :)
Great, great, great episode! Adam Brody seems so lovely and down to earth 🥰 I'd love to see Adam and Ben on the podcast together at some point 💘
I love love love this part. I wish ben and mischa participate the podcast.
My favorite character on the show will always be Sandy, followed closely behind by Summer.
Woahhhh this is the first I’ve ever heard “fired” in reference to Mischa or that she had behavioral issues. I always thought she just wanted to leave the show
I truly enjoy this podcast. It brings memories of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen, and I think it is worthwile talking about the making of the show from your perspective, so inspirational and nostalgic. You two beauties get warmest regards from Copenhagen :)
