I think if you want to be successful in the software industry,
1st learn the fundamentals in programming and core concepts. Get good in one language (expert).
Onces your a good programmer then you can be anyone as you like later.
Technologies can be learned..! And technologies will always change...

I personally don't think devops is a rebranding. Yes anyone can be a devops engineer but, it is a different domain. Developers are developing the applications but devops/IT engineers looks after the infrastructure and ways to automate it.

Depends on the company and the country. In Europe, there is no difference. Everyone has a 40 hour week and that’s it.

Is it ok to Start Devops at age of 38?
Depends on many factors.
If you’re already in tech (software engineering, network admin, etc. ) then it’s possible.
If you’re willing to spend more hours to learn new things, then yes.
If you’re prepared to do a lot of projects, and even an internship, then yes.
But, most people don’t. So it’s totally up to you 😇
