I'm not quite sure which games you meant by "popular" RPG games. Even though I don't have scientific facts to back this (but I think there are many), I can tell from my experience that games like Detroit: Become Human, Hitman, Tomb Raider, Witcher, Last of Us, Uncharted, and Horizon (Zero Dawn and Forbidden West) contain a huge portion of gameplay which involves thinking. They're not entirely logical thinking, which involves a certain level of anticipation of the given scenario. For instance, there are many cases in Last of Us (1 and 2) where we must pick which zombies to attack first to level up. I could figure it out only after a few retries. In some cases in Last of Us, we have to pay a good amount of attention to the things happening around us. So instance, to open a safe/locker, the combination might be found on a calendar, or a letter we found lying around the floor. To identify these, we need a lot of attention and thinking. In Tomb Raider games. We have to read the clippings, and books, and listen to conversations to solve some puzzles (to open doors and chests). In God of War, we have to carefully listen to the stories told by Mimir to open chests and earn more points or power-ups. In Witcher 3 where our choices change the gameplay. And some choices have to be made within a short period of time. This puts a huge burden on the play to make a logical choice in order to build up the story and the character itself. I can give many examples where games put the player to test. Of course, these are not demanding logical thinking exercises, however, it adds more flavor to the entertainment. That's why many people don't like games like these where we have to spend hours learning about the character I don't have experience in any of the games you mentioned, but I believe it improves tactical thinking as well. "Therefore, if someone really wants to improve their logical thinking, video games are the last thing I would recommend." I agree as well, that's why I didn't quite recommend it ;) I just mentioned it since it had a positive impact on me, but it might not be the same for everyone. Yet again, I'm only sharing my experience here (as I always explain in the disclaimer at the start). -------------------- I don't think that personality has a big impact on thinking. However, brain capacity (and other innate capabilities) does have though. That's why some people are fast in understanding some things than others, while the same people can be slower in understanding different topics than the other group. Moreover, I strongly believe this can be improved! Because I did it! I didn't really think about it until many people requested to do a video on this. Then I realized the things I did/do and my hobbies have a huge impact on how I think. The brain is yet another muscle that we can train, just like we go to the gym to improve our physical strength. These exercises do help to improve, but I don't think there is a guarantee of that. Overall, I think that logical thinking can be improved. But how? that depends on the individual. If you have more/different experiences, it would be awesome if you can explain, so everyone can benefit from it. :)
@@HexCoder Thanks for sharing the research. I hope it explains how hobbies like sewing and reading fantasy books improve logical thinking, which was my question. By that I mean, when a feeler type person (xSFx) is pushed to the limit, they will naturally rely on their sense of emotional judgement rather than their logical reasoning capabilities no matter how hard they train their brain to do otherwise.
Thanks for the explanation. It does not mention about reading fantasy books not sewing. I don’t think I’m wrong to assume that they’re related to creativity. Correct me if I’m wrong. My suggestion was to “at least” try these to trigger some inner creativity. We need to motivate people to step out of their comfort zones. No, I haven’t read it and I will whenever I have time. I see your argument regarding personality and I see where you’re coming from. But depending on different circumstances, people’s perspectives can change. We should help others to push their boundaries and improve. And everyone can! Yes, they might rely on their emotions when they are pushed to the limits, and might not be logical at all. However discussing it and how to handle it was not the purpose of this video anyway. The main scope of us( HexCoder) is Software Engineering and other related topics. So these extreme cases are rare (but not absent either) and mostly handled by peer reviews and feedback anyway. The sole purpose was to give some perspective and provide options for those who’d like to improve (from my experience). I hope I explained my perspective and my thinking behind it.

clash royale is highly recomended for strategy
He he, well… These games are highly addictive with compensation based levels. That’s why I don’t really recommend them. But if you say so, might be helpful as long as we’re conscious about the downsides.

@@HexCoder wow. There were more consequences than I thought. Time for some old school chess stuff :)
