- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- Learn how to professionally carpet a ply panel, with 4-way stretch carpet and then fit it to your camper.
The van in this episode is a short wheel base Mk 6 Ford Transit. We had previously carried out a 'Day Van' conversion to this van and the sliding door panel was the last part to be completed.

Would love to see a tutorial on cutting one’s own ply panels.
I'm about to do this for a boot build and there was a bunch of stuff in here I would never have thought about. Thanks a lot!
I seen most of your vedios

excellent videos and incredible work - thank you!
Thank you
Please balance your music volume to your talking, it's way off, either I don't hear you when talking, or I got my ears smashed when the the music comes on. You are in good company with many others on UA-cam. Besides that a great channel. 👍
Hi! This was one of our first videos, and it shows in terms of levels! We are not video makers first, but camper builders. However we are getting better every video! Thanks for your comments :)
Hi from 'up North' Great videos. Newly subbed. Ha ha just mistyped dubbed ! Really generous of you to share your insights. Also well made and presented so easy to follow with just the right amount of detail. I watch a lot of these videos and yours are some of the best. At 1st I wondered if it was wise for you to share so much that allows owners to do it themselves but after watching I reckon you'll gain many more customers than lose to DIY enthusiasts. You come across as a very genuine and knowledgeable builder who takes care in his work. Good stuff this camper business. Happy travels everyone. John
Great video, very informational...I hit subscribe and like!!
thats a brilliant tutorial thank you. This video has answered all of the questions I had about doing this job on my Transit campervan this week I now have the knowledge to order the correct ply , trim fixings, carpet and adhesive and do the job with complete confidence . Cannot thank you enough
You are more than welcome John. Happy to help
Top notch tutorial. I'm currently doing a partial conversion so my Expert Tepee can be used as a camper when I'm not using it for deliveries. Just carpeted my first rear door panel with the help of this video and I'm really happy with the results
Thanks Lee, really helpful video. 👍
First timer here giving it a crack this weekend….Wish me luck!
Hey guys! Awesome vid thanks for the help! What would you suggest doing to the non-carpeted bits of the van in this instance?? Ie your ply lining is carpeted, but for example the pillars (or portions of the pillars) won’t be... should I carpet the pillars separately and just butt the carpeted ply lining against them if that makes sense?? Cheers
Great video, very clear and detailed. Should make my attempts pretty simple, thank you
Really usefull, i was tearing my hair out trying to do the corners! The triangles work great
You can also clean the nozzle by spraying the can upside down for a few seconds until it runs clear. Just another way
If installed a panal with screws. Are there any tips on hiding them ?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you 🤙
Hi guys,I love your videos.
Good explanation ,excelent hand hability and easy talking
I´m plannig to make a small transformation in my VW CADDY MAXI
Hope it will be closer then your works, but I keep praying
Hi Lee great video and lovely job .I have a t5 and the sliding door the door card is missing I can make one out of ply but don't know how to mark the holes for clips any help would be appreciated
you should get a self healing rotary cutting mat for that table
Great tips, thanks. I will be re doing mine soon as they have started to come off!
Excellent! Thanks for the support Luke
I’ve got a t6 kombi. Would you recommend carpeting the original grey door cards (which are in pretty good condition) or is it best to buy new ply-lining and carpet that?
If I want to fix the carpeted panels/door card and not use the factory trim clips i.e. the upper panels to the barn doors what is the best method for fixing them?
Dust Mask Man! those wood fibres will stay in your lungs and GET YOU!!!!
top work, regards from CH
Would you say 80C degrees glue resistance is high temperature glue?
Great video! 👏👏👏
u know this van mate could you supply the roof panels? i have a swb mk7 transit i want a roof for
I buy the panels from Custom shop designs online
Is it possible to use plastic fasteners (with a flat profile head) and put them behind the carpet? That's what I'm going to look at trying. Then I get the best of both worlds, a nice clean finish and also access if needed in the future. Just need to see if the carpet will cover the plastic clips and not have little bumps visible!
Yes of course. Take a look at Harrison trim supplied website and look for invisible trim fixings
@@CombeValleyCampers grand, thank you 👍
Wow i learned alot about the cuts and fold thank you.
Woodprix is nice for that.
Great video's, i'm learning a lot and i don't even have a camper van! Keep up the good work guys!
What lights and dimmer did you use? Thanks
Any chance we could get a peak at your motorcycle setup?
Great tips, what would be your suggestion for the door frame? Understanding you don't want to go past where the seal meets. Trying to workout how to finish the carpet where its been trimmed.
Hi Steven, thanks for your comments. I would suggest marking where the rubber meets the metal work of the door frame and carpeting to that line I've found it best to just cut a nice clean edge using a new sharp blade and glueing up to the edge for a nice clean look
Great video
The triangle tip is a great idea. Many thanks
Great video
Plastic van lining can that also be trimmed with carpet ? Thanks
We don't really use it so I can't reccomend any really dude
👍👍👍👍
I’ve always wanted to know how to do this
Hi i have the same van anychance u can give me an idea how u done the headliner? Or can u do a video Thanks :)
In this instance we made our own headliner and secured to the roof using Batons
@@CombeValleyCampers ok grate thanks do you do it in once sheet of two parts?
@@HM.Hatchet205 we did it in two parts. If I remember correctly you will need two 8'x4' sheets of material as the roof spanned just over 4' in width
Hi, where can I get that carpet?
From our website! We sell carpet in 5 different colours and the adhesive too! www.combevalleycampers.co.uk
Nice job
Can you get blind clips so they aren't showing?
Hi Dave, yes you can, and we use them often. 8n this case the customer specified he wanted the original clips back in
Hi Dave, Yes you can buy blind, or 'invisible' clips and we use them a lot in our builds. In this instance the customer was happy to keep the factory clips. Thanks for your comment, Leigh
Is it possible to keep removing a panel with invisible clips or will they break and need replacing every time the panel is removed?
Where are you based??
Hellingly, east Sussex
Thank you for the great video. I am doing my 2019 Hyundai iload and cant workout how to get the sliding door panel off. It seems to be stuck around the door handle. Any ideas ?? Thanks.
I hate carpet, especially grey. Reminds me of council houses.
I am sorry to say your videos annoy me and make them not worth watching; because your speaking is quiet and the music you keep inserting is way too loud making it necessary to frequently adjust the volume. From what I have seen you probably give good information but if you cannot sort that wild variation of volumes I cannot be bothered wasting my time watching them.
Hi Kassie. We are aware. These are some of our earliest videos, and we didnt get it quite right. However, we are 9 months, and 42 videos in at this point, and id like to think we have improved. Thanks
Great tips, may try fitting mine when the vans empty though.. Lol.
