Ooh, Ooh, I know what that strange critter is. The one you refer to as "Floob" is actually a reference to this old game called "Number Munchers" that was meant to teach kids math. That sprite looks exactly like the aforementioned Number Muncher that the player controls.
"now that i have written a 1000 word essay on the high preist-" let me make this quote better "now that i have written a 1000 word essay on the *thigh* priest"
In exit the gungeon there is a boss named Low priest, and he is high priest in the past. The low priest was an old apprentice of Cannon until the Kaliber taken the control of Low priest, making he to become just a gun and ghost. Then with the power of kaliber he summoned a army of confirmeds to become the high priest, he taken over the old followers of old king, they together served the old king. But the bullet king come to gungeon and become to the rival of high priest. Edit: This goes to lore of bullet king😅
The high priest could have been a great killithid in his previous life, because it can be infered from the description of the mine flayer that he is not the only great killithid. Also he has blue tentacle like arms similar to the mine flayer.
My opinion on the high priest bit, is that the gunslingers ashes, contains a ghost of the gunslinger who still has his guns, and can still shoot. The high priest, has blue limbs, just like the ghost of the gunslinger and ser Emanuel, meaning he is most likely a ghost. This also ties into why he dissolves when he dies. But, the gunslingers ashes description saying the high priest “still remembers” makes me feel like someone tested this art of preserving a soul on him, but it didn’t work, preserving his body with the head of a gun. Then on the topic of blue baby having the blue skin like the priest, blue baby is a form of Isaac who suffocated inside of his treasure chest. He turned blue because of the lack of oxygen. I don’t have a reason for the lich having blue skin, but the difference between the high priest and him are pretty big. The priest has a more blue skin while the lich has a greenish-teal color. As mentioned previously, the blue color from the priest matches more closely to the gunslingers ashes’ bullets and the dead version of blockner and ser Emanuel. -BuildTheBeast55
i am disappointed that you didn't say that after he was defeated the high priest lost his memory and suddenly gained GODLY THIGHS and became the thigh priest
honestly I just assumed that the material form of the high priest was just agunum's cloak, they look incredibly similar, that it was possessed by a spirit who worked for kaliber, with this ability being given by the pendant.
I know I'm super late but can I get an explanation for that? Unless I'm misremembering correctly wall mimics are part of a species of mimics. While the Wallmonger is magical defense the gundead created as a defense mechanism.
The Wallmonger being known as the Demon Wall in the sprite names is possibly a reference to Final Fantasy, where in IV and VII a boss with a similar gimmick of being timed and instakilling you by crushing if you take too long shows up.
The “gun intact” part of the gunslingers ashes description is because it shoots out ghosts that have their own guns, and ghosts usually don’t have those
Hey man! How about the evolution of bullet kin? I bet there’s some lore behind that! Seeing as there’s Such thing as arrowheads and that they have an ammonomicon entry and all
My headcanon is that after the cultist mastered the gungeon, killed their past, and existentially questioned whether they were a villain, they turn to the cult of the true gun and eventually use the gungeon’s time travel shenanigans to become the high priest themself, sorta like gunslinger killing the lich but the other way around
So what I gathered from the Wallmonger's design: A Terraria Reference. 8:29 The whole "made out of corpses" and how the teeth is a reference to Terraria's "Wall of Flesh". this is further established when the Wallmonger is referred to as "The Demon Wall." Not only is the Wall of Flesh from the underworld, but also it keeps the spirits of light and dark at bay, and the Wall of Flesh is summon with a Guide Voodoo Doll, dropped from Voodoo Demons.
If the Avatar of Kaliber is hostile to us, then why does Kaliber bless us in Exit the Gungeon? Also, the blue on his arms closely matches the souls that come from the Gunslingers ashes, or Sir Manuel. This could mean that his arms are his soul.
The lore implications of there being human skeletons in the Wallmonger are pretty crazy. Who were the humans? Were there more than the ones who were put in the Wallmonger? If the remains put into the Wallmonger were remains of Gundead who were killed when the first Gungeoneer surmounted the Hollow, does this mean that the humans were fighting with the Gundead? Why?
The wallmonger feels like a reference to a monster in d&d called wall of flesh. I think. If it's from something else that d&d incorporated I'm not aware of it. A wall of flesh is an undead monster that is stationary but absorbs any creature it can absorb. After absorption, the creature will appear on the wall. The creatures will recognize old friends and family but because they are now part of the wall, their goal is to lure new victims into the wall. With wallmonger, there are both bullets and humans in there. I could be wrong, but this is what I think the wallmonger is.
@Nevernamed i feel i should mention this due to the looks of no one else mentioning it. when the ashes says "preserved with gun in tact" its going off of the "soul" of the gunslinger who's ashes is in there and his ability to shoot with his guns. its talking about the shot itself not the gun. (sidenote) ashes are a form of preservation still. not preserving the body per-say but preserving the individual.
I think the High Priest's body is actually a spirit, projecting from his gun. Similar to how the Gunslinger's ashes shoot out his soul. That would explain why he's blue.
At 10:53 did u think about the coaler but with arms? Cause in the game he is simular in shape but not with arms and in another video u where saying how the bullet kin can mutate to get abnormal apendeges (sorry my english is bad) so would that mean that the coaler just mutated?
