its often the story behind a lot of the best games ever made. Often times you will hear it was an accident, something that was under funded, barely made it to market, and didn't have the backing you would expect of an amazingly successful game. This story was a blast to hear about! As someone who's played Gungeon since release day over 6 years ago, with 420 hours combined across PS4 and PC, I adore it. From the mechanics to the music (did I mention the theme song kicks ass?), the gunplay to the Gungeoneers, everything just goes so well together and it really shows. While tough for new players at first, once you get used to dodge rolling and weapons (and their rarities), you'll be blasting Bullet Kin like a pro (pun intended). Beating pasts is no easy feat (The Pilot's past was the hardest for me), and unlocking the secret characters (Bullet, Robot, Gunslinger and Paradox) takes time, but once you do it, the feeling of accomplishment washes over you and it's so good. Thank you for making this video! Enter the Gungeon is easily one of my favorite games, having played over a thousand hours of it and also delving in Modded content as well. I never knew the game I loved so much had a rich history of it's development process. I remember watching NL & Cobalt playing the game when it came out as well, when they finally managed to beat the game and get the gun that could kill the past.. I remember none of them had any idea what the gun looked like yet but earlier that run somebody made a joke saying 'what if it was just a gun with the barrel pointed backwards' and it was!! It was honestly what I think cemented this game as my top favorite game of all time.
Well we already know that there is an "Exit the Gungeon" as a 2D side-scrolling sequel to this one. I think it already had been released by the time you posted this video.
I just read some comments and I don't sure if no one mentioned it but,Dodge Roll already did their sequel to Enter the Gungeon,it's called Exit the Gungeon, the game where you travel through floors on the elevator in 2D and fighting enemies and bosses
youtube reads my mind way too much, just woke up from an enter the gungeon dream an hour ago, eat, come back to thinking about gungeon as im finishing and then click on youtube, this was the first video on my feed, literally AS im thinking about gungeon, ik i watched 2 or 3 videos about the game the other day so it's fresh on youtubes algorithm for me but it's still eerie
I've been playing gungeon since about 2017, and I've only started getting good this year. I'd love to see a proper sequel to the game some day, but I don't see that happening. Both lore-wise and due to the effort needed by the team. I'm looking forward to their next project either way.
EtG is absolutely one of my favorite games of all time. I have 1200+ hours of play time, and more and more gets added nearly every day. This was a great little documentary to watch. I was not at all familiar with the history or the people behind the game I enjoy so much. I was also surprised to learn that there is an EtG arcade cabinet. I see that I can buy one for about 6 grand, so, I am going to start saving a little bit. It would be sick to have that sitting in the living room or game room. I get confused when games like Isaac or Nuclear Throne receive so much love even though EtG is (in my humble opinion) better on just about every metric than those two; just the lore of EtG is incredible. You can tell a lot of love went into the crafting of this game. I will look forward to see what Dodge Roll comes out with next.
I didn't make a comment initially from my first watch, but after having watched about a dozen videos and this channel being my main video entertainment source for the past week, I must say: the content you make is very, very good. And I hope you continue to experience the success that you've had with this video. I always find the titles interesting, even if they can be called clickbait-y, and the sponsors never bother me that much either. So keep doing what you do!!! It can be difficult making a cross-genre core audience, but the content is always so interesting that it *will* work. (Also, as a side note, though I always watch the videos themselves, I suspect a podcast format could be rather doable and reasonably successful? I'm sure that idea has been introduced many times to you, but nonetheless, I must say I would enjoy them.)
I had no idea these devs were so incredibly fucking cool. these are the type of dudes that I wouldn't even be surprised if I had a conversation somewhere online with given how many of our interests specifically in games completely intersect. Neat video!
Hey! I had just watched a video about the wild wild lore behind this game and all of its secrets. Perfect timing, and I didn't ever expect it to be covered on this channel even!
Oh wow this video seems to blow up you got lucky this time! Hope you got some new subs and got even better for algorithm, your video is so good man. Well i have a request for you can you make how RimWorld was made?
2:54 you wanna make it look like devolver was the only option since it didnt need access to the building but we all know they were looking for the gun pun
There is a game called exit the gungeon which is slightly worse gungeon made by Doge roll and I’m pretty sure they are moving on to a game set in the same universe, I will research this and return
There is little gameplay and the gameplay there is a few months before the initial cabinets were ship and the game being finished 😔 but it does look very good, and in the interview they said they will do half old enemies half new enemies, along with new characters, that include “the detective” who is female (?) with blue hair and is wearing a coat and a red shirt and “the super space turtle” which looks almost identical to his pixel art form but he’s now drawn is in the cover art for the In system icon ( if needed I will clarify)
But the even better silver lining is that in a retweet of a elden ring tweet they showed a pot Kin (????) which this so called new game may be just the arcade cabinet because I can’t find the tweet and subsequently the date so erm more like a copper lining
No fucking kidding, this game is such a good investment, costed me like what, 15 dollars? 30? And it gave me a whopping 500hs of play time, it's so fun, there's so much to unlock, every character, gun, item, enemy, are goofy as hell and the boss are a fucking treat What a game man
I played quite a bit of this game on pc but, i got it on switch a few years ago and have put hundreds of hours into it. It is a phenomenal game and i find myself playing it whenever i get bored of the other games I've been playing recently.
yes. and it made the game all the better. Whenever you meet a new boss/enemy/item/floor/whatever and you can roll your eyes for the miserable pun: it was glorious. Love it 12/10, groans are just as good as laughs.
oh that explains it seriously though its good to see people talking about etg, for me it's in a limbo state where its the "final" version yet feels like it's unfinished and missing half its potential as a game still was fun and enough to 100% but i wish there was more updates or smth
I used to do runs of that game... I loved it... Platted it 2 weeks after getting it... It's so awesome and badass, it's actually on of those timeless games. Always fun.

One of my favorite games just beat all 4 pasts for the character now on the road to gunslinger
I've been playing gungeon since about 2017, and I've only started getting good this year. I'd love to see a proper sequel to the game some day, but I don't see that happening. Both lore-wise and due to the effort needed by the team.
I'm looking forward to their next project either way.
Mixing a lot of game in one, in a perfect way
that is Very Cool
My favorite gun that's based on pop culture is the wind up gun from Futurama! 😃 it plays the little "pop goes the weasle" toon when you reload!
herring that the devs were fa ns of PMD just warms my heart.
I love playing it high as hell then going into the world first person
"If you get hit you know why"
Hutts: WHA, HOW DID I GET HIT?
Caves of Qud being mentioned as a potential competitor for Enter the Gungeon is mind boggling to me.
2:15 This castle is reminding me Sandman's comic castle
setting up an anti-convention booth outside a convention is such a devolver thing to do
Still haven't beat the final boss at 160hrs, only got a chance to try 2 times tho
15:48 I love getting hit by jammed normal rat
like it isn't even enemy it's there to decorate the room but of course
how you go from something as amazing as enter the gungeon to their uhh.. sequel/prequel is astounding
Preemptively leaving a like and a comment for your efforts. Keep up the amazing work!
Much appreciated and will do!
Wow, amazingly edited, paced, and scripted. Didnt even realize what the title meant until the moment passed
EtG has a banger of a soundtrack that I really enjoy. EtG is the only game that I don't turn off the music while playing.
1:06 - "EA did what it does..." had me dying! 🤣
Hearing the story for this game is so fucking based.
This was some top tier production on the video design and information presented. I loved this game and I loved learning about it from you!
Thank you very much, glad you liked it!
There'll always be bs, undodgeable pattern combos etc
They key is how you take the hits and roll with it
what
when you skip to the most watched part but everyone was just skipping the ad
I am so happy they did because it is one of my favorite games. I own 3 copies like a crazy person and have played thousands of hours.
Perfect timing, and I didn't ever expect it to be covered on this channel even!
the best thing ive seen in years hooters and gaming in one place
also great amazing story i love how you perfectly explain the entire story of how the game came to pass
he said in the video "the competitors grew more fierce" but they could never reach enter the gungeon
Oh wow this video seems to blow up you got lucky this time! Hope you got some new subs and got even better for algorithm, your video is so good man. Well i have a request for you can you make how RimWorld was made?
I'd like to think it's my hard work paying off rather than luck :D And RimWorld is on my list ;)
I just got back into playing Gungeon, impeccable timing
Back to back videos on my favorite games ever holy shit
I wanted you to touch on exit the gungeon. I just couldnt get into it the same way.
I might do a separate video about it in the future.
And now, Exit the Gungeon
I'd like to imagine that they just stared at a pole for 6 hours before going like "We could make a game after this"
I played this game for over 300 hours, and I didn't know the wild ride into the making the very dungeon I spent many hours dying inside.
2:54
you wanna make it look like devolver was the only option since it didnt need access to the building
but we all know they were looking for the gun pun
I just hope enter the gungeon 2 will happen before i die
There is a game called exit the gungeon which is slightly worse gungeon made by Doge roll and I’m pretty sure they are moving on to a game set in the same universe, I will research this and return
There is a baller ass arcade cabinet with lightguns (irl guns that shoot special light to shoot in game things) will update after seeing game play
Hope you have a good day ( interview i watched: ua-cam.com/video/xukn0HVpfQQ/v-deo.html ) and I hope I was at all useful
No fucking kidding, this game is such a good investment, costed me like what, 15 dollars? 30? And it gave me a whopping 500hs of play time, it's so fun, there's so much to unlock, every character, gun, item, enemy, are goofy as hell and the boss are a fucking treat
What a game man
I played quite a bit of this game on pc but, i got it on switch a few years ago and have put hundreds of hours into it. It is a phenomenal game and i find myself playing it whenever i get bored of the other games I've been playing recently.
ima vet at this game; i have thousands of hours and over 9 fully colored ammonomicons, and ive never heard ab this! this is so cool!
oh man I totally forgot about the cog of battle, I was immediately like wait, I've used the active reload in EtG...
another amazing video, i can't wait for youtube to push this channel to the top
Glad to hear you liked it!
No idea that Gungeon were ex-Mythic employees. Explains a lot. As, Mythic made a lot of good games until EA took over, and it tanked. Tanked hard.
Ugh, I had forgotten what they did to Dungeon Keeper, thanks for reminding me.
I remember first hearing about it on good game spawn point on ABC3 early on in its development. Now it's one of my favourite games
there was a scary amount of good puns in this game
yes.
and it made the game all the better.
Whenever you meet a new boss/enemy/item/floor/whatever and you can roll your eyes for the miserable pun: it was glorious.
Love it 12/10, groans are just as good as laughs.
I would pay for a new dlc in a heartbeat
oh that explains it
seriously though its good to see people talking about etg, for me it's in a limbo state where its the "final" version yet feels like it's unfinished and missing half its potential as a game
still was fun and enough to 100% but i wish there was more updates or smth
I used to do runs of that game... I loved it... Platted it 2 weeks after getting it...
It's so awesome and badass, it's actually on of those timeless games. Always fun.
Great video! I always like to watch this kind of documentary videos about any theme of my interest, and yours was truly amazing.
I’ve genuinely had no idea what EA stood for till this video
I recently got this game it is very addictive
I really like how you move with left stick and aim with the other it’s very satisfying
Even though the game receives no more update, it's still packed with contents for hundreds of gameplay
One of my most played and favorite games of all time. Bless them.
