    Excellent video and explained very clearly. Good job! I have been looking for almost a year for a decent 2006-2008 Z4 coupe and have read about your problem because people don’t keep up with maintenance and oil changes. Thank you, very helpful.

    The inner shafts move when shake them. To make sure they are working and not clogged, shake them.

    Last night went to the grocery store car was running perfectly fine go and come back out fire up the car now it's misfiring and running rough any information would be highly appreciated??

    get your camshaft sprocket bolts replaced. There is a recall. I was having similar issue and BMW fixed it.

    Great VIDEO!! Hi I have a 2013 BMW X5 35I WITH A 3.0(n55 engine) LITRE TURBO. When i purchased it use, it was not any issues, or no check lights on in the instrument panel. when it got cold temperature -5 degrees and colder, it would surge up and down for a few seconds from 600---1300 rpm when i start it in cold temperatures only. but when it was warm weather it idled cold is just fine and no codes.ALSO, in cold weather i have to let it warm up well. if i try to drive the vehicle away after a few minutes of starting the, service engine light will appear in my dash ,when i check the codes::: engine misfiring, number 1 cylinder misfiring. number 4 misfiring and number 3 number 2 ,etc. if I Let it warm for 10 minutes,its drives fine. The Question i s::::Does my N55 engine have these "non return valves also? ty for your input.

      These are called VANOS solenoids, not whatever tf he called them. Your issue is something else, VANOS solenoids don't cause idle surges, only a rough idle

      @@alextheonewarrior ty for you input Alex, but i think my vanos in my n55 2013 3.0 litre turbo, vanos has a electrical connector plugin,which is at the front .... so i dont thinks it is his vanos., he is showing that there are 2 screens that is clogged , which may be inside or close to the vanos, his N52 ENGINE "screens" do not have any electrical connector, so.... i dont think its vanos.... input please... tks sir

      @@battlehrfred They're Vanos Check Valves they filter the oil for the vanos and help the oil flow to the vanos. your issue with surging RPM can be related to Spark Plugs, ignition coils, fuel injectors, or Vanos. I had a issue with my Vanos and my RPM did shoot up and down but I got Vanos codes not misfires. id try changing your spark plugs first, then changing ignition coils. If you can id clean your Vanos and clean/replace your Vanos Check Valves (shown in the video) since im pretty sure the N55 has them but id check on your motor just incase because I can be wrong. the very last thing id do is changing your fuel injectors since they are expensive but id put fuel injection cleaner in your car. someone could've used 87 or 89 octane gas instead of 91 or 93 octane.

    Sach ma is der immer noch ok? Weil ich hab das gleiche Problem und hab schon alles getauscht usw. Aber die Dinger kannte ich noch nicht! Würd die dann auch mal rauspulen. LG

    At minute 02:40 you are refering "if you want to see how this engine was inside, just click here or here", but there are not links to go, could you please share them, so I can see how you clean the upper part of the engine, I'm having the same exctly issue, I bought a E90-N52, I took a look inside the cover valve it is totally nasty, I definetly need to clean that part of the engine.     ok, so you said it was tight and tricky to remove the filters. you don't show what tools you used, you don't show how you cleaned (you replaced them) and you didn't show the process of removing/installing. not helpful. thanks for sharing what you have though.

    Any ideas? When i start engine, idle so rough, and engine just dying. When i push accelerate for 4-5s everything is ok. Vanos changed, chain with everything changed too... Error code shows problem with vanos

      If the car has an idle air control.valve I would check that. But I’ve seen those stick open so you would notice on a car that was already warmed up and not from a completely cold start. Clean the throttle body and the mass air flow sensor.

      I used an ultrasonic bath like for jewelry with dawn soap and hot water - they looked just like in the video.

      Battery just starts the car? Are you kidding me?
      Start the car and then remove your battery and that’ll prove your weird theory incorrect. Haha🤨 your engine is supported by multiple electronic systems that will not run without your battery. If you have an old battery the alternator cannot charge it no matter how much you drive it and therefore not enough power can go through multiple systems. Please sit this one out about your battery theory. Most of your vehicle is electrical not mechanical. Your spark plugs in combination with power from the battery to the starter and your fuel injection system all use electrical current to start the vehicle. Dumb dumb the battery powers the vehicle while you are using !!!!!!
