*IF YOU WANA-BE CREATIVE, YOU GOTTA GO MAKE SOME FRIENDS*
Make it last forever, friendship should never end
If you want to be creative, you will need thick skin
Creation can be criticized; that’s the way it is
A brain is a bunch of cells strapped together zapping each other with electric shocks to create thoughts. Imagine what could happen if you strapped a bunch of brains together and brought out the old car battery. There is a metaphor here, I swear!
There is, and that metaphor leads to the universe-in-a-battery car battery of Rick and Morty.
getting spooky with that gex 1 cemetery stage remix 👋
Omg, you live!
YOURE ALIVE OHMYGOD
Yo, someone else of impeccable taste!! I loved your Animation Community Critics vid btw. It's overdue for a rewatch.
@@WeRNotAlive Thanks! I think I found you through the video on Old/Sandcastle. I remember laughing at the changing portraits.
Shocked to learn that you weren't born already having a full beard
Congrats on 100k subscribers! Been watching you guys since the "100 twitter writing rules" video, and the success you've all found is very much deserved. Your voices and videos as background accompaniment have helped me through so many work projects, so many games, and lulled me to sleep on so many nights. Every video that's been critical of a thing has been helpful in understanding why a thing didn't work, and every positive endorsement has encouraged me to seek out the thing being talked about. Can't wait to see what the future holds!
I was going to make a cheeky reference to the mucus toad, but seeing younger you so excitedly thanking subscribers was just too wholesome of an ending, complete with the explanation for why it says "We are not alive". Perfect way to both cap off the previous journey, and commemorate the beginning of a new one.
you were so brave to put fetal monocle gus clips in this my friend. I think I burned the hard drive that all my channel awesome-like vids were on.
Lmao I met one of my best friends because she beta read my Sanders Sides fanfiction. We've been friends for four years now and I can't imagine my life without her. Congrats on 100k! I wish everyone luck on their creative journeys because it's rought out there.
Yo congrats on 100k! Seems like just yesterday I found your channel from Lily's "Writing Tips". Yall helped get me through the pandemic.
Also this seems as good a video as any to ask this: what ever happened to Roast Quartz and Monster Girl Safari?
Monster Girl Safari got (understandably) unmonetizable, so we put the whole thing in a big compilation on our Patreon. As for Roast Quartz, it's fair to say that a lot of this channel's SU takes have aged... oddly. But if there ever happens to be another Steven Universe video, the old stuff will be made available in some form.
@@WeRNotAliveThanks for clearing that up!
I think every person going into any kind of big creative venture needs to be reminded that making friends is important. Most creative projects start out naturally favoring the lone effort of one person. From the spark of inspiration to well into many revisions of that first draft... It's often a very singular task. And that is for many reasons. It's hard to get noticed enough for someone to pay any attention to your work, especially these days. You often have to produce the thing to near completion before it passes the threshold for other people to care about it. So, that lone artist mindset gets reinforced just by the nature of that initial process.
But... It doesn't have to be like that, even though it is hard for it not to be.
As the old, jaded man I've become, sitting upon my throne of creative endeavors failed, I urge anyone to keep on trying. Reach out to others. Yes, often you'll only be met with dead air or undeserved cynicism. But, often is not all. Don't let your self-doubting get a foothold in your mind, constantly using every failed attempt for connection to justify not trying the next.
So, make friends and keep trying.
What a beautiful video. I'm currently working on my first novel and it's part of a series that will adapt a story my friends and I have worked on since 2020. I cannot relate more to your experience. I never would've gotten this far without the people in my life.
This is the sweetest thing i've seen all year oh my gosh
Massive congrats on 100k. Cane for the core, stayed for the bangers and am happy to see you get some of the subs you deserve.
Glad to know making friends has always been an important part of content creation. You did a great job explaining why it brought you new experiences that helped you become a better writer and a person. How this channel helped you grow a community of aspiring and fun-loving people.
Congratulations on the 100k subscribers!
I couldn’t watch this for a bit because I knew this wave of envy would well up. Thank the dogs Contrapoints helped me to realize that it’s not you; it’s me.
That being said: Wholeheartedly congratulations for reaching 100k subs! You deserve it and I hope this is just a begining. I truly mean it.
Congrats on 100,000 subs but more importantly congrats on having friends who love and support you
This may not be the most viewed We Are Not Alive Video, but it can't help but be my favorite :)
A huge, stupendous congrats to the milestone and your journey getting to it. Been following the channel since I first got into yours and Henry’s writing advice series and it has been a wild ride, getting to see likeminded creatives like yourselves.
The advice of “make friends” has definitely been valuable to me - I have chums that do a fortnightly writer’s club on Twitch, which has helped me to practice my craft and share concepts that would otherwise stay cooped up inside. There’s really no other feeling as a creator like finding your people.
Also thank you for your videos/mentions about Wander Over Yonder. This channel is how I found out about WOY and is the reason I watched it and loved it. I’m still trying to get a friend of mine to watch it and I know he’ll like it once he does.
It's been a joy to watch the journey! Truly, truly. Great work, Guso (And all the others too).
Thank you. Your videos, especially advice giving, are very healing and motivating. Thank you all for being you and sharing a bit of that to the world.
All of us collectively like you like you, Gus
Congratulations! I started watching a little while after yall posted the Lilys writing tips video, and this has been a favorite channel of mine for a long time. Thanks for everything 🎉
Congrationlations.
You guy actually got me to make my writing more serious, so thank you for this.
I've been feeling down and demotivated on my creative projects, but honestly. Your content has helped a bit. (Though watching youtube doesn't really fix creative issues, it can at least lift your spirits up at times when you find the right channel) Thank you
I just wanna say a huge congrats to all of you! I found this channel through the genocide themes in cartoons video. It was and still is a great video and it got me to consider my own writing more carefully, but I stuck around for the group dynamic in series like ponder over wander, roast quartz, troper fails, and SpongeBob boys. I've been a direhard for a while but I wanna be a WANAbe for even longer because all of y'all have been a great inspiration to me to keep writing and to start sharing my work with friends. Here's to another 100k!!!!
Holy shit congrats on 100K! You guys certainly deserve it! The amount of thought you put into everything you create is downright inspiring. You have made me want to be a better writer and inspire me when I'm feeling down. Thank you so much, to Gus, Henry, Meg, Addison, Charlie, and everyone else! You all are such wonderful people and I am so glad to be in this community!
0:40 I can't believe you would lie to your audience like that
you ARE alive! i can't believe this 😭😭
Guso Milkarella hit 100k on UA-cam. You won't believe his secrets for making it this far!
Congrats on the 100k
Congrats on 100k! You guys most definitely deserve it! I have followed you since the Lily Orchard Video and I am so glad to be a wannabe! Have a great day and good luck on your future endeavors truly!
It's truly an amazing thing when a piece of art, whether it be a book, movie, comic, show, podcast, whatever hits you in just the right way and at just the right time in your life to have a profound affect on your personality and creativity. You do your best to explain why this art is so special and it doesn't always make sense to those listening whom aren't affected by that art in the same way, but if you know how to let your passion shine through, it draws the attention of those with similar creative drives. Once that happens, there's work to be done.
congratulations on the 100K, cool guys!
Congrats on 100k guys! Y’all have given me many laughs Over the last 3 years I’ve been watching this channel. Here’s to another 100k
Congrats on the milestone guy
Make friends. Alright. How to make friends?
made me cry no joke
I got your Lily video recommended to me twice before I clicked on it. As much as I hate social media algorithms, it's adamance for me to watch your stuff is a plus.
Tell your return short to go screw itself! You lot *are* my favorite YT channel!
Congratulations on the 100k!
congrats on the subs!
Oh absolutely, don’t think I’d be as far on my creative journey without all the pals I gained in the industry. Always avaivai for more ;)
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
hell yea, brother!
I'm glad that it worked out for you. I know it'll never work for me.
Not with that attitude! Remember, it's never too late.
@@WeRNotAlive Eleven days and I’ve done nothing. I’m too autistic to do anything. Sorry to have bothered you over this.
Armchair psychology
I'm glad this did turn into a collaboration channel. There's not a lot of them that turn out well are the ones I’m most passionate about such as this and the vidcast channel Bomb Squad Production/Podcast.
congratulations!!! 💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️🌈
I one day I’ll ride the humanga danga too!
Too late for me.... I've been drawing for 10 years and severely isolated myself in the process. I regret everything.
It's never too late!! There are so many communities out there for artists and they're out there waiting for you too.
But how/where do I make friends?
The park, library, game stores.
Where: School/College, Gym, clubs, Internet applications like discord/ reddit.
How: being genuinely interested in the other person. Asking for hobbies, pointing out something interesting that you observed about them, even asking for advice like a show recommendation, or even asking for how would they define when someone became a friend or how do they make friends usually
The best thing you can do is start being curious about the people in your life, and spending time with them outside of work/school/other obligations. If you can deepen the relationships you already have, then it may become less daunting to know how to form new ones. Also, like others have said, seek out communities of people based on your hobbies and interests. Having a pastime that requires cooperation and socialization will incentivize you to want to experience it with others, and the same is true for the people who will want to experience it with you.
@@WeRNotAlive This isn't really necessarily actionable but I think it's pretty helpful as information if not as advice. You're a pretty great guy, Gus :)
14:50 wario land 4 sample ?
Why is it so hard to find this podcast. I cant find it amywhere. Anyone have a link?
Oh my god, you look amazing with a beard
So the real question still remains, when’s the next ponder over yonder?
Wander is all
I hate and love that stupid filter.

i thought this would be actionable advice on how to network and make friends but this is mr fancy pants bragging about all his friends ivory tower made of friends.
I don't want to leave you out so for TLDW 1) Stay curious about the people in your life and always try to get to know them better. 2) Create heartfelt and social content that draws people in. 3) Be proactive when it comes to pitching or pursuing collaborate projects with others. It might seem distant now, but you'll get there too!
Generic comment for the algorithm
Of course the real question remains.
