Thank you, Sam, for all your hard work. I came across your channel a few days ago, and thanks to you, I'm already on the right track; I placed an order with Perfumers Apprentice, and I feel very guided and supported.
Thank God for The Internet as we know it because I know damn well 20 years ago you'd never be able to find the bulk of this kind of information anywhere but a incredibly expensive school in Grasse lol. Im so thankful for being a Millennial In this aspect.
@@sammacer With the holidays upon us, i havent posted in over a week due to being super busy. But the next videos to come will be more 'material showcase' videos. A bunch of subscriber requests want to hear about comparing ozonic/aquatic materials, and also woody-amber material comparisons.....so ill probably do those next

Here is the message from his page "The lectures have temporarily been taken off youtube until I find another home for them. This series of lectures was commissioned by the Chinese firm Aromuseum for viewing on their app. I am most grateful for their support which allowed me to dedicate time to this project. Apparently a lot of people in China are illegally accessing the lectures on UA-cam using VPNs and then declining to subscribe to Aromuseum because they can get free content. Even though Aromuseum had rights to China only, this was not planned for, and I have no wish to hurt their business model. We are in discussions on how best to fix this to everyone's satisfaction. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience. "
I count my blessings when i find your channel. Its so mind-blowing information. Thank you so much for doing these video Sam ❤️. Subscribed immediately! Respect
Phenomenal video. I found your channel several days ago and have been learning much from you. Thank you for sharing this highly valuable information. 🎉
It's nice perfumers apprentice offers the formulas for their accords. Because if your using an accord can't make yourself. You are at risk of discontinuing your fragrance.
Sam! Thank you so much for all the info you've put out into the universe for others to learn. Kind of funny that you have no idea that you've basically been my perfumery professor the last couple of weeks while I literally take notes by hand as I have all your videos playing back to back in my queue! You're such a knowledgeable source with good intentions to share what you know and I respect that tremendously. I do have one question! I am desperate for some sort of app or software to use as a database for my materials/inventory and formulas, I know you have one linked on your website but I am PC only. Any suggestions for good organizational softwares/apps for PC users? :)
Great Sam! I'm from Brazil. Do you know anything about Brazilian perfumery? I work with perfumes and develop something artisanally I really liked your channel.
Thank you! I don't know anything about Brazilian perfumery specifically but you should be able to apply all the knowledge on the channel to smells which are popular in Brazil.
Can you please tell me the main chemical ingredients I need to make my own perfume using mainly essential oils, but on watching your videos I know I need certain main chemicals too. If you can give me the main ones to start with. You are so helpful and knowledgeable it's a lot to take in, isn't it at first. Thank you very much Kind regards, Nicola
Hi Sam. If a pre-diluted material listed in a formula for instance vanillin 50%, does that mean the 50% dilutant counted as part of the final dilution of 15% (assuming we’re producing EDP). For example: Material A - 1g Material B - 1g Vanillin 50% in DPG - 1g To make a 15% perfume, Do we calculate it this way - 3g concentrate + 17g ethanol OR 2.5g concentrate + 0.5g DPG (used to pre dilute vanillin) + 13.67g ethanol Thanks in advance!
Thank you for this insightful information, I would like to ask you about the Turkish brands that manufacture oils as well, do you recommend them or it's better to stick with the European ones? Thanks again
This is really helpful, thanks! For the IFRA library, I notice that when I search some aromachemicals there is no information for them (e.g. linalyl acetate, C12 MNA). Does that mean the aromachemical is probably safe to use? Or am I perhaps searching in the wrong way? I tried searching by both name and CAS #.
This video was very good mate. I knew a lot of the stuff on it already from researching it for ages. It will definitely come in handy for people who don't and it helps it's all in one video! Oh one bit of the fragrantica you showed with the citrus reminded me about hatkora lemon. Really want to get or make that note. It's from Bangladesh and smells very good. Also tastes so so nice. If you ever go East London then try it in Spice hut! hatkora Donner kebab 😄
@@sammacer Thanks! Oh btw I have diluted all my EO's and AC's. That part of it is quite relaxing lol I am guessing the blending is where I'll get frustrated a little. One thing I noticed bid the grapefruit @ 10% only lasted a couple of mins on the strip and was very hard to detect. Should I use an AC instead?
@@juelraj3901 Yes great observation, that's just how grapefruit is, it's a top note. It's very hard to make it last longer using synthetics while keeping it smelling great. This is where the anatomy of a perfume comes into play. Rather that fight it, find a mid / base note that it leads into; embrace it as the opening of the perfume and try to become at peace with that.
Hi Sam a question about a room spray : how much water use in a formula with ethanol water and fragrance / parfume. Only alchool is too strong and evaporate quickly. Thanks

For sure. Pell Wall also offer formulas for their bases but it's not quite so good as you still need to buy the formula separately.

The country doesn't matter, what matters is the quality of supplier. Both locations have better and worse suppliers.
Wow so grateful, many thanks!

I usually search by both name and CAS just like you have done :) If it doesn't show and it's a common perfumery raw material it's probably safe

Where can we find bottles, spray pumps, caps, etc.? Also, where can we customize our own?
There are lots of sites online selling these
If i plan on selling perfumes am i fine with just IFRA or do u also need to read those 30 pages of european cosmetic law?
It’s important if you plan to sell them in the EU. Otherwise you should check if your country has its own laws.
