The crescendo at the end of "The Shape of Things to Come" (the opera house music) we waited years for. When it finally happens it is so bitter sweet. Just sublime.
The composer who set the tone of this series was named Richard Gibbs, who was also from a band named Oingo Boingo. You may recognize this name. The superbly talented composer named Danny Elfman was the founder of that band. He is a legend in his own right. After the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, Bear McCreary took over the reins of the musical motifs of the show and scored basically every episode. The most recognizable sound imo is the use of piano as a bass instrument in a rhythmic pattern that resembles everything from metal, to minimalism. Phillip Glass is an obvious influence as well. The lower 3 octaves of a grand piano were used incredibly well. The "war drums" sound is perfect. Bear McCreary is also responsible for some very epic ballads and lullaby style music that were used in the show. He oversaw orchestras and simplified music to a core form in simple pieces such as Passacaglia. Bear McCreary also studied under the masterful composer by the name of Leonard Bernstein. If I remember correctly, he was literally his apprentice. McCreary helped Bernstein transcribe and preserve his lifetime of cinematic work in painstaking detail. In other words: this is some of the best music ever created in my lifetime, and in my opinion. This comment took me 10 minutes to properly edit. That is my level of respect for this beautiful mastery of time, space and sound.
Mr McCreary is one of the most talented young composers of his generation (if not THE most). His blending of Eastern and Western influences is fluid and effortless. At only 45, I anticipate great things. It seems to me heaven itself is paying attention.

2022 now. The Grand Old Lady is my daughter's ringtone. Trust me, BSG fans, it's appropriate. I have all four seasons on disc, and still play them religiously. So say we all!
Thank you for posting this symphonic orchestration of Battlestar Galactica conducted by none other than the great one, Bear McCreary himself! Such beautiful music, powerful and graceful all at the same time. And thank you Spain for recording it!
The BSG series was extremely lucky to hit home on so many points, especially the music. What an amazing homage to McCreary and the music. Blueray, please?
As a hip hop r and b lover. There is something VERY INTRINSIC ABOUT A ORCHESTRA. ITS A GREAT CAREER. ITs a trip how the conductor looks like he is just twirling a stick but its something more deep about it to the orchestra. Like hand signals from a aviation boatswains mate on a aircraft carrier.

Is it me or is the audio only monophonic? I am not feeling a sense of stereophonic depth & width. Also, I wish Bear also incorporated the famous main theme from Classic original BSG as a homage, perhaps as the outro or an encore, since they also used that theme in the reimagined series at one point. There is no reimagined 2003 series to exist if it was not for the original. I am a fan of both series. There is now rumor of a 3rd BSG remake/reboot/continuation coming along, headed by Sam Esmail. 05/21/24

Yeah. Not only that, it sounded like some of the Bassists were either off their timing, or their audio pickups were not working and their audio was picked up from somewhere else, throwing out the timing entirely.
Thing of Beauty. And to anyone who missed this program or soundtrack, All this has happened before and will happen again.
Well hopefully the nuclear apocalypse won't happen again :(
The entire work on BSG is a musical gift to those who have ears to appreciate!!!
Happening for me right now in 2023
I have a feeling this time will be different. I believe that's what Angel Six says.
NEEERRRRRRD lol
Over a decade later, and this OST and series still moves me to my core.
