It only works when docking it, if your just using the it as a handheld you can not get higher than 1200/800 But if you are docking it. Switch too desktop mode: Then go settings then pick display: Change your resolution to what you monitor or t.v supports, but I would go 1440p and then click apply. This hopefully helps you.
Specific refresh rates don't work on external displays anymore.
