    Good morning. I really like your videos, I learn a lot from them. I bought the Black Horse Viper 1.88m model, and I want to apply an automotive varnish to the fuselage to give it a glossy finish. The problem is that I'm afraid of applying the varnish and ruining the plastic that covered the fuselage.
    I ask you, what brand or type of varnish you applied to the plane. Do you know if, when preparing the viper body for varnishing, it was necessary to sand the body for the varnish to adhere?
    Thanks

      Prep the surface with a Scotch-Brite it needs to have a little bit or a scuf so that the clear coat can stick better. Use a two-stage clear coat Automotive urethane that you can purchase from Carquest. A good brand is NASON AUTOMOTIVE FINISHES

    YOUR VIDEOS ARE VERY COOL...I HAVE A BH VIPER, AND I'M IN DOUBT WHETHER I INSTALL A WEMOTEC 100MM EDF WITH HET MOTOR 700-83-1080, WHICH HAS A VERY REALISTIC TURBINE SOUND, OR I INSTALL A 110MM EDF WITH HET MOTOR 700-98-840. I WANT TO INSTALL AN ENGINE THAT HAS A REALISTIC TURBINE SOUND.

      Wemo has the best sound, but it's definitely not the best power for this jet. If I had to do it all over again and I do, I will go with the Jetfan 120mm 590kv on 14 or 16s.

      @@ghoustanable I agree and that is exactly the power stream I have now gone with after following Wojtek's suggestions of a Het 700 75 1400kv on a 90mm - it barely got off the ground. Also his CG is way different to everyone else because he lightens his airframe so much it has a different balance point to the rest of us. He goes to the nth degree to get it as light as possible, with small esc's, super light servos, lighter landing gear, leaving off some parts and removing a lot of the intakes etc etc. Also whilst the Wemotec does sound better than the Jetfan, its only a very slight difference and nothing in the real world sounds like Wojtek's videos. As a few have commented some sound recording equipment give edf's a completely different sound than what it is in reality and clearly Wojtek's recording gear is the best example of that. Balancing your fan unit helps a lot, but it doesn't turn it into the equivalent of a real turbine sound, not by a long way.

    So you have to have intake ring and edf extension to mount the smaller fans rearward? Or can you mount it in stock location

    • @ghoustanable
      @ghoustanable  Рік тому

      You could mount it in the stock location. However, the tabs on the EDF housing are not wide enough, so you'd have to put together some sort of modification to make that work. Additionally, you have to compensate for tail wait because the 100mm WeMo is lighter than the Jetfan 120 and given that you're moving it so much more forward than it would be with the extension we're talkin probably about 3 to 4 in, you need to compensate with tail weight to hit factory CG.

    Good afternoon. But would the Jetfan 120mm 590kv with 16s sound similar to the WeMoTec? I'm in doubt, I don't know which one to buy.

    Garfield, are you going to run channels from the intakes and any cheater holes to the fan intake ?

    • @ghoustanable
      @ghoustanable  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I'm going to have Maca ducks at the side of the fuselage and not put in the plastic inserts that come with the kit. I was also thinking about putting in cheater holes at the bottom of the fuselage but plan on flying the plane first to see what the performances like. If I get over 250 KMH without the cheater holes on the bottom of the plane I won't modify anything I'm good with that speed. 😝

    Good morning EDF Jet RC. To install on the B.H. VIPER the Jetfan 120mm 590kv, using 14s would the sound be realistic, similar to the WeMoTec 100mm? Would it be necessary to make any modifications to the Jetfan 120mm for installation?

    • @ghoustanable
      @ghoustanable  Рік тому

      No, it's a drop in fit. That said, the most common modification that I've seen people do is to 3D print a larger intake cone for the EDF, and this you can find on thingiverse. Cheers, and thanks for watching.

    Trying to get the printer files for the wemotec inlet extension. I have emailed Wojkec several times with no response. With that said do you still have the files. Would you share them or even better print me a inlet. If so please reply and we will talk about cost.
    Thanks
    Mike
