Wow, sounds great. Also, good job on efficient and effective demonstration. I'll have a hard time choosing between this one and Studer. Guess it's time for a shootout...
+Daniel Isaac Miller thanks that's going to be a tough call since UAD tape is one of my favorite things for mixing right now. I'll either have to extensively demo both, or just buy both. I already used ATR-102 on almost every mix. I feel like a tracking tape is the next move.
When you become a good engineer, you will know that this minor differences, make major differences. I have tried alot of UAD, and this is the first one I have been willing to buy. I used it on vocals, and it made my vocals sound less raw, and more like radio-hit recorded in a professional studio. But take in account A good recording, needs good acoustics, a good mic, a good pre amp, and good placement, and also correct EQ, and compression. This adds the extra when all is done.
+The Road To Mars Hint: they used to record on Tape.... so take a guess... :-D I think the master bus would be a nice place. But there really are no rules man. Put it wherever you feel it adds something to your sound. I never used it myself but I guess that it would perfectly fit on your groups e.g. the things you would normally group to send to a tape track. Or if you had tape channels enough, put one on every damn track. You might wanna add some UAD 2 Octo cards to offer sufficient power though :-) Enjoy man
+David Lopez Unfortunately not - according to the UAD instance chart you get the same mono instances and actually less stereo instances than the the Studer. If it was less DSP intensive than the Studer it would be an instant buy for me.
+Brad Kinder The DSP usage is needed because they emulate as accurate as possible so that eats a lot of power. The issue is that the UAD2 DSP chips are 10 years or so old. UAD should urgently come out with a new board. Analog Devices - the DSP manufacturer - now have new SHARC DSP's with dual cores and at higher clock speeds so UAD could easily tripple their power on a new Octo card. Honestly I don't understand how UAD even dare to sell a 1 DSP chip board. That's totally ridiculous. An Octo board isn't even enough to make a track with all UAD plugs.
demo inutile ,aucune difference du son ,imaginez avec l'ensemble des instruments, beaucoup de demo sont tres mal faites... ou logiciel inefficace ! ? reste juste un doute. demo useless, no difference in sound, imagine with the set of instruments, many demo are very poorly done ... or ineffective software! ? just stay a doubt.

OK I just picked up Oxide! Now to put it to serious use...
Can't hear any difference through my iPad mini speakers? :)
what's the difference?

Is there an alternative to this oxide tape plugin from uad ?
Where should this plug in be placed? top of the channel (before eq, compression etc) or after (at the bottom?)

I wanna assume there is less CPU with this than the Studer or Ampex as well?

good
Did you just call the GUI the GOOEY?
People have called it that for years, man.
i dont hear any difference at all unfortunately?
LOL Uad can't hear any difference with this plugin.
another saturation plug in.
