For some reason I’m wanting dreads at 43 years old. I guess it don’t matter the age but 🤣 and my hair is to my .... I don’t even know how to go about it

I'm 42 and finally getting dreads after wanting them my whole life 🎉 How did you go? Did you get them? Do you have dreads now? Tell me about your experiences please 🙏
I've been watching your videos and looking up more for a few months now. I started dreads in my hair a few months ago but I was struggling with keeping my root separate and not having a giants mat at the base so I started over. I have straight hair and I have them sectioned via rubber bands till I could find a solution. I love the style and want to continue it. Could you do a root maintenence tutorial on straight hair?
***Did the same method except I used Burt Bees Hand Salve.....bees wax....to tighten them with the palm rolling method right after. I also keep cute beeds in certain areas that are starting to bulge out to keep them even and tight 🤙🏽😁***
Great vid:) I think I was in my mid-late teens before I found out alota white ppl have a hard time dreading there hair. I'm white an my hairs kinda wavy but not much but it's just naturally quite frizzy n it dreads sooo easy. My mum started letting me do a half head dreads cause she got sick of having to help me brush or cut out the bits that kept dreading naturally lol worked for me😁
So glad u found this. I've asked ppl on fb if they would let me have a go at loc'in their hair. 4 ppl replied 👌🏾 how long did this take..? An they look really good. Thanks for sharing with us👍🏾😁
I am 5 months into my dreadlock journey. I am doing the towel/freeform method. I wanted surfer type dreads so I like a freeform look where all of my dreads are different sizes and are not perfectly uniform. It is also pretty nice because this method does not require a ton of maintenance. My hair is 3b but along the hair line it is less curly so I did have to crochet hook those front ones. Anyways they are still forming and I still rub my head with a towel and use sea salt water from time to time.
I personally think that twitst n rip is the uglyest form of straigt hair dreads. I did backcomb then crochet and my dreads is ALOT more clean, takes longer time tho.
I just got my dreads and i have straight hair! My hair was also not very long but i didnt wan t to wait lol I had a friend do them that knew how to crochet. They turned out pretty good, but I plan to add in extensions to give it a longer look, i think longer dreads just looks better in my opinion :). i super exited for my dread journey. And your 100% correct on the fizziness lol The frizz is always there but ive kind of gotten use to it. Im trying to learn how to backcomb/crochet dreads so that way I can make my own extensions rather than pay for someone to do them. Itll save me alot of money in the future also im a Cosmetology student so knowing how to do them will benefit me. But patients is definitely key. It's not as simple as it looks.
I started my lock journey after having open heart surgery at 41 yrs old. My hair thinned a lot so I wanted to do something that would add length & volume. I have my straight hair dreadlocks for 1 month and i didn't wash them yet and i don't do any maintenence how much do i have to wait for them to lock up before i can get them wet ?
You can wash them whenever you want to you just have to be gentle with them and seperate and palm roll them when you get out. My dreads are only about a 4 days old and I just went swimming in the ocean and they are still just fine.
@@souheldaneyl7929 I put them in myself using twist and rip and so far all I really do is palm roll them. I have been practicing with a crochet hook, but it is very time consuming. I have high top locs, got them with a brush, I spray them with tropical roots growth oil every night and put on a durag, and I also usedMurray’s locking gel to get them. I’ve had them for a month
