    When he goes into that upper register towards the end, I still get goosebumps. Once a trumpet player, always a trumpet player. But someone like this man takes it to a completely different level, he has God listening to this.

      They aren't super high. I mean, this performance was impressive, but that range was not crazy enough to be outstanding.

    • @jamesbanks5597

      It's not impossibly high, but his tone and stability in the range is better than a lot of lead trumpet players

    Arturo Sandoval or Jesse Mcguire ??? I choose Arturo sandoval.. had more range and hit many notes in 1 second but to be fair Jesse had amazing staccato notes and had very amazing articulation but only a trumpet player would be able to know how amazingly gifted the two men are .. ☺

    • @keemez
      @keemez 9 років тому +4

      Sandoval, big time. JM is using FAR too much vibrato- almost to the point of being Jenkinsesque.

    • @charlescubing2040
      @charlescubing2040 9 років тому +6

      +Trisha Blackwood Yeah I agree with you both. The vibrato is too much and Arturo has a MUCH higher range and sounded more clear and pure

    • @jacobbarnes5378
      @jacobbarnes5378 8 років тому +6

      I hate JM's sound. I hate the super short staccato and I hate the twangy sound that sounds so unprofessional

    • @matthewwaeltz994
      @matthewwaeltz994 7 років тому +11

      I am going to have to disagree, and say the Dr. McGuire's version was better. Granted, that Arturo did a phenomenal job performing the Star Spangled Banner, but in my eyes I believe that the vibrato and twang gives it style, and makes it sound like he plays with passion. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

    • @gtran2536

    OMG!!!!!!! Maynard Ferguson has been reincarnated!!!!!!! I just listened to him play at the NASCAR race in Phoenix. I swear he gave me an eargasm. I always dreamed to be able to play like that but it takes a special person who dedicates hours upon hours of practice from a young age to hit those high notes. Thank you for uploading this!!! He is so talented. I'm still trying to get the goosebumps to settle down.

    I don't know Arturo Sandoval, personally, but give his renditions of TSSB due respect. We grew up with Dr. Jesse McGuire. I know him to be a fine person, husband, father and friend to many. His renditions of TSSB are all over the 'net. His range and talents can stand up against anyone. He has performed with Tower of Power and The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and so many more big names. Doc Severinsen, past presidents, James Brown, Wynton Marsalis, Stevie Wonder, et. al., and our friends, appreciate his talents. The most powerful thing in his life is not his trumpet. It's the Father, Son,Holy Ghost and love for his family. God bless Dr. Jesse McGuire.

      Me too!!! Have you ever listened to Maynard Ferguson (rip) or Bill Chase (rip)? Maynard Ferguson has at least 5 albums although it might be hard to find them now. My favorite by Chase was "Handbags and Gladrags". When I was in high school, I would be up til 2 or 3am with headphones on and sketching while I listened to them. Something about trumpets screeching out notes that doesn't seem possible truly amazes me. I would have loved to have had a teacher like the one Chase had in regards to the embouchure.

      You have NO class with your words! Why not take a course in getting along with others OR just go to a shrink to tell him/her why you are so coarse!

      James Herbert Hey hey hey, calm down. I don't think that comment was meant with any malice or hate or insult. Granted it isn't what I would say but the man can play like so few can when it comes to those upper registers. Don't be so harsh on him. What he said is mild compared to a lot of what is said on UA-cam. Especially when people are arguing. It gets bad. I said it before and I'll say it again, this man is a trumpet God!!!!
