I think realistically, you'd be very hard pressed to find the "deficiencies" in the MXR relevant. The Strymon seems to focus on depth and sounds great in a ideal setting. The decay sounds much more natural and trails nicely. But the MXR seems a much more striaght forward reverb that has a stronger mix of the reverb with a different decay that seems to fall off a bit later. If you are going to hit it with any sort of distortion/drive, I'd imagine the MXR will come out a bit neater. Thats just my speculation. I am on cellphone speakers so maybe it's not the best assessments. They are also a dime a dozen on the used market, you won't cry if someone spilled coffee on it, nor do you need a pelican box to store it.
The MXR is such an amazing, expressive unit that gets it done with tones to spare, and in my opinion is all you need, especially for a board. Dont get me wrong, the Strymon has some great algorithms, but in terms of practicality and value and performance, the MXR wins handily!
Love them both. The value of midi and recall in the Big Sky are a HUGE plus - however IMHO if you are mostly playing the same type of songs - with one or 2 changes -and you are not headlining in an Arena - THEN the MXR would be my choice. Heck, you could actually buy 2 fOR THE PRICE of one Big Sky and have different settings at your command. My 2cents. For the record I have the MXR and love it.
Friend, this channel is very good, at least I should have Spanish subtitles for the Latin to see, so we will be more subscribers on this excellent channel, greetings

Great demo, great channel. These kinds of comparisons are invaluable for musicians working within a tight budget.
MXR ~ $200 Big Sky ~ $480 I'd have to "suffer" with the MXR. Plus, my days of being fascinated by fiddly settings are behind me. :-)
Precisely why I have a big sky, say what you want, but it sounds beautiful in just about every way

If you scroll past the pedals and randomly click around the timeline, it's very hard to tell which one is playing.
Any chance you could compare the big sky or blue sky and the Meris Mercury 7? Love your videos!
Strymon all the way
I like the MXR

For a recording, Strymon. For a gig? MXR or EHX Oceans 11
Fred, I agree with you 100%. I usually use the EHX O11, or a Boss RV-6, but for recording we use the Strymon.
Selling my EHX oceans 11, just not using many sounds beyond the spring and find the secondary functions difficult to navigate/remember
Does it drip?
yea!!
