First off this recipe sounds great and is on my list of ones to try. There is nothing more controversial than Italian cooking. Most recipes are deeply rooted in family tradition. What I grew up on was my grandmother's recipe. Start off with onions, celery, and carrot. Never any garlic of stems (oregano, basil, thyme, etc). The only tomato was paste, nothing else. White wine, milk, chicken stock, salt and pepper finished it off. I give this recipe a thumbs up.

Many of your recipes use canned tomatoes. Can you tell me where to get IMPORTED canned tomatoes? I know tomatoes in this country are flavorless and mealy. Is there a particular brand name? I want to try this dish and many other creations of yours. I made your Clam Chowder and it was the best I ever ate!! I will always use that recipe. I'm hoping I can learn to make sauces as good as yours. Thanks, Jay B.

Hi Jay, glad you enjoyed the chowder. You can pretty much pick up imported tomatoes at any major grocery store. Cento is a popular brand that we like to use.

How many ounces of blended tomatoes did you use?
