Hello Dan , I though you might want to look at his channel on building a lean two, Modern Self Reliance I build a sawmill shed out of lumber from the forest! I try to keep costs for the shed super cheap by re-using as much materials as I can, and sourcing materials from the forest around me. I use both milled woods, and many dead standing trees to make a structure that will keep my portable sawmill free of snow, ice, and rain. That way, I can use my sawmill year round without having to worry about the weather. New Epic Build (at the Off Grid Property!) March 25, 2023
What a great stroke of business done in the woodyard. And then top it all off with a couple brats and sauerkraut. Looking good in the woodyard........not much to go. Stay safe my friend
Yes those saws sure do have some power and are really handy for smaller stuff. I might have to look into one if my little 180 ever decides it need a replacement...lol
Nice work Dan. All winter I've been cutting the nice size stuff and some new logs as they come into the woodyard. On my next video I'm going to start cleaning up a lot of the random "old" stuff that's been sitting for almost a year now. It's time to clean up and get organized!
The firewood stand is cool. I was thinking about getting a van and wrap it that says firewood and pull up to the farmers market and open the side door. Bundles would be flying outta the van.
When cutting logs to length you should cut the by multiples of 16 (16, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128, 144, 160). This way the next round of bucking the logs to length you don't end with an off cut.
Thought about it but decided to just keep in somewhat log form....some of the smaller limb wood sections might just go straight into the boiler instead of getting bucked & split.
Being from calif and do some wood saving, it hurt my heart to see the size of some of the branches you were burning, I understand why you can do that with all the trees you have, but still it hurts.
@@Back40Firewood That’s what mine looks like all the time. I put a vent into the end wall to at the ceiling to let the mid day heat escape. Cover lasts much better now too.

Food and drinks are the currency 💵 of the Woodhound! 🌭 🍹 🥤 🍺 nice log piles in the wood yard

I guess this is why I like tree service wood.. this part of the mess is all cleaned up when I arrive..😁👍
Hahahaha....yeah many don't realize how big of a mess the top and limbs of a tree make.
That 180 seemed pretty handy to limb with. Good day of work!
You have a nice pile of logs to process. Cheers!
Between Willis torch and tge hand hel blower, Nice fire starter!! Brats looked good. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Cutting those trees down sure opened everything up Dan. Once you get it all cleaned up it’s going to look really nice. Great job.
Thanks! Yeah it's coming along on the clean up, but once done I'll probably just make another big mess somehow back there...hahahaha
Good days work in the woodyard! The top handle saw seemed to work great limbing with Willy at the controls.
Good progress! That was a lot of material on the ground. Cleaned up nicely and sorted into piles.
Hello Dan and Willy, great Teamwork and food 🍱 🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Looked like a nice easy paced cleanup. Hope on top of feeding the help that you watered it also. 🙂👍 Win win
Ohh yes there were a few hydration breaks mixed into the workflow...hahahaha
Ready for Spring clearing.😊
Great job cleaning up and lunch looked good too!👍👍🇺🇸
For little saws. The Stihl top handle saws have a lot of power. I use mine all the time for limbing. I always love a big bon fire. Nothing better.

Hello Sir Shifter. Looks like a good cleansing.
SS. HF. BC.
Clean up after the fun of dropping the trees is always satisfying. Looking good.
The national German dish, “Bratwurst mit Sauerkraut” !!
Not a big fan, but I hope you and Willy enjoyed it!
Nice progress, and I totally get that ayou want to play with the bonfire a bit :D

Nice work gentlemen! You got a lot done in one day. Help is great when you can get it.
My kind of food and fun.

We tried to for the most part, but sometimes easier to cut off where the stem branches off or at crotches.
Free help, nice. Yea for Brats
hi there burning the branches is like just eating the hair off an elephants tail . still have a lot more to eat when you get hungry ,well done john
The nice thing is the tops and smaller branches burn down pretty quick, was barely any ashes even left this morning.
Looks like a lot accomplished for the time you guys spent.

I'm guessing you're really missing the Japa 315 now. Much of those downed trees would be great food for the Japa to feed on. 😁
Yep some of those would've been great for the Japa.
Is it actually spring now??? I'm skeptical 🤣🤣🤣 The woodyard is looking good Dan.
No snow, I still can not walk around the yard unless I am on the walking trails
With the sun now able to hit more of the ground back there the snow pack has been dropping, and gone in some parts.

I was in the woods today and there is 22-27 inches yet in the woods, I was surprised to see that much yet. I had to winch out my ATV
@@Back40Firewood
We have no bare spots yet in any of the fields around us yet
Brush ughh 😢. That's one nice thing about tons of dead ash. No brush and just a few limbs to cut
“Bratwurst & Sauerkraut” And I wasn't Invited ?? Damn....AHAHAHAH
The Whole Damn tree goes in My wood Burner. No BTU's wasted .

Question why don't you cut the the limb wood in the air @16"

Save the pine for a nice get together bonfire

Looks like you tightened the cover on the Shelterlogic too…
Yeah I'm not sure what happened, wasn't anything I did...lol
