I wonder if you could do baked potatoes in the Yoder pizza over? I like a good crispy skin on the outside of my baked potatoes. May be not crank it all the way but might be fun to try. Could be good for twice baked potatoes. Hmm.
I’m happy to hear that they aren’t drastically different given I’ve only got the pellet grill right now. I’ll soon have a Kamodo Kamado! Thanks for the effort here as I know making the dough and keeping an eye on all three cooks can’t be easy when you’re recording everything. Thank you, sir! #pizza #pizza
Great Video! Tell me more about that brush for the Yoder? Did you make that? I've been wanting to put something together myself, but liked what you had!
I too have enjoyed #pizza on a Komodo style cooker and now enjoy #pizza on my Yoder YS640s. I have not gotten the wood fired oven attachment yet, maybe one day. Thanks for your video's and teaching us from lessons you have learned. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for putting these videos together! I have the Yoder already, so you made it a very easy decision to get the pizza oven to go with it. Would leaving the Yoder cover open during cooking be much of an impact? I love the idea of seeing while cooking, like you did on the Alfa.
No Prob! You will lose heat pretty quickly if you leave the lid open for a long time. I’m sure that would decrease in the summer though. I don’t think you would be able to leave it open all the time though. It won’t hold the higher temps. 🍻
@@RumandCook Great to know - perhaps I will try initial cook while closed, then leave open while turning and final raising to roof for finishing. Thanks again!
great channel and this is what we do every other week with my kids and grandkids. We Love Pizza Napolitan. Margarite with my fresh basil is our favorite. I've been using my Memphis pellet grill with a 7/8" stone for years. This Christmas I got an Alpha with dual heat wood/propane and it works awesome. I have not tried it with the wood so I need to do that..the propane is so easy. The oven makes great tasting fast pizzas. I will look for your dough recipe and try that out next week, Subscribed.
Really enjoy your videos. I have a Yoder YS64 with the wood fired oven and cast iron griddle. You videos have been very helpful making pizza on the Yoder. #pizza #pizza
Jake, Great Job as usual!! I really like the wood fired flavor on my Alfa Pizza Oven but the Yoder is definitely easier. Have not tried it on the Komodo yet. I definitely got temperature control better. Thanks for the help. #pizza #pizza
Really curious about the cost of fuel for these different options. I will be cooking for just myself most of the time, and so a full or near full basket of charcoal seems wasteful. Can you estimate the cost per session in terms of fuel? Awesome video, and thanks!!
Once you use the lump and make a pizza, you can shut down the Kamado and then reuse the lump. It’s still going to use a fair amount though. For grilling you don’t have to use much. I think you could get 3-4 pizza cooks out of 20 pound bag of lump. General grilling at least twice that. Tough to calculate for sure though. This will give you an idea though. 🍻
@@RumandCook ouch, so 7 to 10 dollars per grilling session. Sounds like you want to be sure to get several pizzas cooked every time you light it up to maximize your efficiency. Thanks for the info, brother!
Watching these pizza videos is *almost* giving me the confidence to try making my own dough... almost. 😆 Awesome video and loved the comparison from the different methods, all three looked delicious!!! #pizza #pizza
Love seeing all the toys on your patio. When do you have time to have a real job? Can’t wait to try making my own dough with that recipe. #pizza #pizza
FYI to do Napolian-style pizzas on a Komodo Kamado, best not to use the KK Bking stone. Its heat transfer is engineered for bread and medium to thick-crust pizzas. For Napolian-style pizzas, I suggest using a Baking Steel which is simply a 1/4" or 1/3" carbon steel plate. Gets the same high temp leoparding at much lower temps much more quickly.. Makes a killer cracker-crust pie!
Makes sense. I usually do more of a traditional pie at 450-500 as that’s my fav. I wanted to try and keep them all about even to be as fair as possible. Lots of ways to cook a pizza though, that’s for sure. 🍻
It looks like somebody has been watching Vito for the pizza techniques and recipes :). Glad to see the comparison. I have a BB32 but have never done pizza on it as I still just use my big joe 2 and now my 950b pizza oven to save wear and tear on the KK. While I love my KK I’d just buy a sidekick pizza oven and save the hurt on the KK.
Looks like all three came out close. It may not be traditional but I like the the crust in the center to be a little crispy too so I'm excited that is kinda how the Yoder came out. Especially since I have a 640s, just need to get the pizza oven now. Keep up the great videos. Cheers. #pizza #pizza
Nothing beats a wood fired pizza! I’ve never made my own dough. It’s always seemed to intimidating. After watching you tho, I’m gonna give it a shot. Thanks for your content! #pizza #pizza
Give it a shot. The key is to use a scale and kneed it well. It’s amazing what happens to it between 5-10 mins of kneeling. Looks terrible and all starts to come together. You will have some good ones and bad ones. Once you get it right it is so much better than anything you will buy. 🍻
I can’t choose one child over the other! 😜. The wood oven is the best flavor, but the other two are neck and neck. Close enough to call it a tie. I was surprised how close they were. 🍻
We typically make pizzas in the oven in the winter and on the grill in the summer, but looking forward to trying it on the YS soon! #pizza #pizza #pizzapizza - wait, that's someone else...
Yeah I was surprised to see how close they were from appearance alone. I used to always joke pizza off of a Kamado requires a fine red glass of wine hah. 🍻

Smoked then fried is good. I’d have to skip the hot part lol 🍻
