As a white man whose wife is black, I used to drag my sons mom, also black, to Dukes events, went to 3 of Bos Extravaganzas. We took photos with cast members, never had any issues. The Dukes fanbase are some of the most down to earth and friendly ppl period. When someone makes remarks about something theyre ignorant about, just brings out their stupidity.

My 8xgreat grandfather Nathaniel Stedman (Yes, that very same one who was exhumed and reburied after a cemetery plot dispute) fought in the revolutionary war and was GIVEN land in North Carolina by the federal government. My family roots were raised from there and branched out into Tennessee and Alabama, as well as Louisiana. The south and the flag and the confederates stood against exactly what has ruined America. The wrong side won that war, I do not care what the history books say. Slavery wasn't the real issue.

I'm a 50 year old Black man and I LOVE the Dukes. Been a fan since I was 5... the very beginning, and there is NO racism in the show. It's just a fun, silly, action packed, family show, and that's all there is to it.

Great video as always! The show was in no way racist. Funny story, I managed, bartended and waited tables at a bar in Cambridge Massachusetts (big liberal city) 2.5 miles from Harvard university for years. We had karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights and I would sing "Good ol' boy's" almost on a weekly basis and everyone in the dining room would sing along because everybody loved it and nobody ever called me racist for singing it, or said a bad thing about the show.

I was born two years after the show ended but grew up watching the reruns and the two reunion movies. My Friday night lineup on TNN from 1998 to 2000 was Starsky and Hutch, the Dukes and then TNN's motor madness (monster jam) lol I got the first few seasons on DVD for Christmas 2003 and then bought the remaining seasons on DVD with some of my high school graduation money. I was born in '91, i grew up watching the show, it was and still is my all time favorite show. I've never seen it to be racist. I remember when people started stating it was back in the 2010's. Couldn't believe it, but i agree with EVERYTHING you say about it, its not racist, they are caring people, family and friends always first.

Just stumbled upon your channel and I have to say I couldn’t agree with you more. I have so many fond memories watching this show as a kid with my father, who absolutely loved the show and would not miss an episode. I believe that it had a huge influence in me becoming a car guy today. I loved to see the boys working on the car, racing it around and setting an example by holding good values and being honest and wholesome dudes. I just bought a model of the General Lee recently, and I keep it along with other mementos as a memory of my late father. This show was not racist at all, in fact I think it is the opposite of racist as it has a way of bringing people together through good wholesome values. My parents are from India, I was born in Canada, and my girlfriend is Jamaican and we all have one thing in common, we love watching those good ol’ boys. Thank you so much for this video!!

Hi Chunkey, I think the reason people think the rebel flag is racist is because of the boneheads who called themselves skinheads and flew the flag and were/are racist. They became part of the NF (National Front) . I'm not sure if you know about the skinhead subculture but basically skinheads joined the NF and became racist because they were told foreigners were taking over their country (England) and these skins got tired of that so they were being recruited into the NF. So now they claim to be skinheads when all they are are racist pieces of crap.... so these boneheads (that's what skinheads call them) started flying the rebel flag along with their nazi flag (in the South anyways) and then it started becoming a "racist" flag and a symbol of hatred. Thankfully my most favourite TV show since childhood is currently on TV in New Zealand! It is absolutely ridiculous to me that The Dukes of Hazzard is considered racist, when it clearly wasn't! Another old T.V. show currently on T.V. in New Zealand is All in the Family which according to Google, aired on CBS for nine seasons from 1971-1979. I'm unsure if that U.S. T.V. show is also banned there. But in my opinion, it definitely should be due to the continual racist remarks every episode by the character Archie Bunker portrayed by Carroll O'Connor! 😥

In here, in Mexico, where i'm from, most exactly in Tijuana, a dude have a Charger like General Lee, and everybody loves the car, because is really amazing. Is not a 69 Charger, is a modern Charger, but looks sooo amazing. I see him many times in the parkings.

Man I grew up with the Duke's of Hazzard my mom used to call me and my brother in the house when it came on😅 I bought all the DVDs I'm black from Houston Texas still my favorite show my favorite episode is Duke vs Duke
I also am a huge fan of The Dukes of Hazzard show. Grew up watching it here in Australia back in the 1980's and into the 1990's. It wasn't racist. Oh yeah who could forget how gorgeous Daisy Duke is. Those short shorts and hot pants. But down at heart I'm a car guy and into muscle car's. But only classic muscle car's not newer cars. It was about the car and the jumps and the rebel attitude. It taught good values, family values. The Dukes of Hazzard has been taken off air here in Australia too. When I was a kid growing up here in Melbourne Australia , the Australian kids were racist to me and I'm white European ancestry originally from Italy. Get that man. Nowadays we got a damn mess here in Australia. The Australian government keeps bringing more immigrants here supposedly to avoid a recession. A bit like the global financial crisis of a few years ago. But it's out of control. We have a housing crisis here in Australia. And to continue bringing more people causes more problems. The government is saying around 700,000 new immigrants every year. In Melbourne Victoria Australia even a gainfully employed person has really bad trouble trying to get accommodation. Be it a rental or buying a house. It's almost impossible. Population is outstripping the supply of new housing. And to make matters worse building supplies are almost impossible to source in Australia. Lots of builders have gone bankrupt.meanwhile our corrupted Australian government is selling our building supplies to China. Times were definitely better 20-30 years ago than now. And the 1970's to 1980's were AWESOMENESS.and so forth today the world sucks. The Dukes of Hazzard & the Ateam was two of the most family friendly shows not a single racist remark in the Dukes nor was there any real violence at least on the Side of The Ateam sure there was a lot of gunplay but they didn't shoot to kill both tries to help people both are in their own way fighting against the system (Dukes vs Hogg & Roscoe, The Ateam vs the Military)
When i was a kid i didn’t know anything about that flag. As far as i was concerned it was just a decoration on the car and all I watched the show for was the car action. I still as an adult watch movies and tv shows for the car action. As an adult I couldn’t care less about the flag, to me its still just a decoration on the car.

Here’s the thing I get hung up on. If not for the car people would fucking love the show because the dukes are fighting the law nearly every episode. What I would like to know is.... Since the rebel flag was banned years back. Why is it ok to run the newer movies sporting said flag but the original series was still forced off the air?
The Dukes are on Prime video. You have to buy the episodes probably because they know people will pay for them. Robert E Lee inherited slaves but freed them once the plantation they came with was out of debt. If the war was over the institution of slavery, why did 4 states where slavery was legal remain in the union?

That's also why segregation was implemented during "Reconstruction." Divide and conquer, it's still happening.

As a white man whose wife is black, I used to drag my sons mom, also black, to Dukes events, went to 3 of Bos Extravaganzas. We took photos with cast members, never had any issues. The Dukes fanbase are some of the most down to earth and friendly ppl period. When someone makes remarks about something theyre ignorant about, just brings out their stupidity.

My whole family feels you! My 8xgreat grandfather Nathaniel Stedman (Yes, that very same one who was exhumed and reburied after a cemetery plot dispute) fought in the revolutionary war and was GIVEN land in North Carolina by the federal government. My family roots were raised from there and branched out into Tennessee and Alabama, as well as Louisiana. The south and the flag and the confederates stood against exactly what has ruined America.

Great video as always! The show was in no way racist. Funny story, I managed, bartended and waited tables at a bar in Cambridge Massachusetts (big liberal city) 2.5 miles from Harvard university for years. We had karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights and I would sing "Good ol' boy's" almost on a weekly basis and everyone in the dining room would sing along because everybody loved it and nobody ever called me racist for singing it, or said a bad thing about the show.

I was born two years after the show ended but grew up watching the reruns and the two reunion movies. My Friday night lineup on TNN from 1998 to 2000 was Starsky and Hutch, the Dukes and then TNN's motor madness (monster jam) lol I got the first few seasons on DVD for Christmas 2003 and then bought the remaining seasons on DVD with some of my high school graduation money. I was born in '91, i grew up watching the show, it was and still is my all time favorite show. I've never seen it to be racist. I remember when people started stating it was back in the 2010's. Couldn't believe it, but i agree with EVERYTHING you say about it, its not racist, they are caring people, family and friends always first.

Just stumbled upon your channel and I have to say I couldn’t agree with you more. I have so many fond memories watching this show as a kid with my father, who absolutely loved the show and would not miss an episode. I believe that it had a huge influence in me becoming a car guy today. I loved to see the boys working on the car, racing it around and setting an example by holding good values and being honest and wholesome dudes. I just bought a model of the General Lee recently, and I keep it along with other mementos as a memory of my late father. This show was not racist at all, in fact I think it is the opposite of racist as it has a way of bringing people together through good wholesome values. My parents are from India, I was born in Canada, and my girlfriend is Jamaican and we all have one thing in common, we love watching those good ol’ boys. Thank you so much for this video!!

They became part of the NF (National Front) . Thankfully my most favourite TV show since childhood is currently on TV in New Zealand! It is absolutely ridiculous to me that The Dukes of Hazzard is considered racist, when it clearly wasn't! Another old T.V. show currently on T.V. in New Zealand is All in the Family which according to Google, aired on CBS for nine seasons from 1971-1979. I'm unsure if that U.S. T.V. show is also banned there. But in my opinion, it definitely should be due to the continual racist remarks every episode by the character Archie Bunker portrayed by Carroll O'Connor! 😥

I was such a fan when I was young that my mom bought me the record of the theme song by Waylon Jennings which I still have!! I also still have my metal lunchbox!! I still watch it to this day !! Those short shorts and hot pants. But down at heart I'm a car guy and into muscle car's. But only classic muscle car's not newer cars. It was about the car and the jumps and the rebel attitude. It taught good values, family values. The Dukes of Hazzard has been taken off air here in Australia too. When I was a kid growing up here in Melbourne Australia , the Australian kids were racist to me and I'm white European ancestry originally from Italy. Get that man. Nowadays we got a damn mess here in Australia. The Australian government keeps bringing more immigrants here supposedly to avoid a recession. A bit like the global financial crisis of a few years ago. But it's out of control. We have a housing crisis here in Australia. And to continue bringing more people causes more problems. The government is saying around 700,000 new immigrants every year. In Melbourne Victoria Australia even a gainfully employed person has really bad trouble trying to get accommodation. Be it a rental or buying a house. It's almost impossible. Population is outstripping the supply of new housing. And to make matters worse building supplies are almost impossible to source in Australia. Lots of builders have gone bankrupt.meanwhile our corrupted Australian government is selling our building supplies to

The Dukes of Hazzard & the Ateam was two of the most family friendly shows not a single racist remark in the Dukes nor was there any real violence at least on the Side of The Ateam sure there was a lot of gunplay but they didn't shoot to kill both tries to help people both are in their own way fighting against the system (Dukes vs Hogg & Roscoe, The Ateam vs the Military)

When i was a kid i didn’t know anything about that flag. As far as i was concerned it was just a decoration on the car and all I watched the show for was the car action.
I still as an adult watch movies and tv shows for the car action.
As an adult I couldn’t care less about the flag, to me its still just a decoration on the car.
I mean the car is very iconic and people are still talking about the controversy to this day wow hack they even have a game of it. And am black too so i really don't have anything wrong with it the show is amazing and it makes me happy to see the cool car!
Hello from the land of Gaylord Duke and Robin Hood! Anyone who thinks the Dukes was racist is a total asshole! A great family show, and in Uncle Jesse had a character that was someone who had principles that are sadly lacking today.
If everyone that watch the show you know that wasn't racist because if they was they would not had a black cop in the show are black people that play in the back ground
That picture IS a shame and racist in and of itself and offensive but NOT because of the car or flag. Like John said if there was ever a more non-racist show, it was Dukes. They helped everybody regardless of color as a lot of southern folk do

Hey Sugar ! I couldn't have said it better myself. Just subscribed. I'm probably not wrong saying I was the FIRST 01 "Dukes" fan in Montreal, back in the day. Saw them all since they originally aired 1979.
I little bitty mistake though.... Vance and Coy came in Sept. 1981 till the boys' return in winter 1982. Thank heaven!! lol Sorry for Coy & Vance fans out there, no offense.

If not for the car people would fucking love the show because the dukes are fighting the law nearly every episode.
The ACAB crowd would love the show if not for the fucking car. But no! Orange car with Dixie flag makes the show racist.
If the dukes were black and driving around in some other car, fighting the police, the “woke” crowd would love the show.

I grew up on Dukes of Hazzard. Have the complete collection (aside from the newer movies) & have watched each episode no less than 12 times each. Yes... That includes the coy & vance episodes. What I would like to know is.... Since the rebel flag was banned years back. Why is it ok to run the newer movies sporting said flag but the original series was still forced off the air?

The Dukes are on Prime video. You have to buy the episodes probably because they know people will pay for them. Robert E Lee inherited slaves but freed them once the plantation they came with was out of debt. If the war was over the institution of slavery, why did 4 states where slavery was legal remain in the union?
And to add to that, those 4 union slave states still had slavery for 2 years following the war
@ChunkeyMonkey40 Indeed, they did. Unfortunately, slavery was abolished because it's the morally correct thing to do. It was done to keep the south too weak to separate from the union again. That's also why segregation was implemented during "Reconstruction." Divide and conquer, it's still happening.
