  • Beavers sure have a knack for making a mess of things including trails, they move in and flood out entire sections of land, people stop riding the trails and they grow in and are lost for ever. It was awesome to open this old trail back up, a little more clean up and it will be ready for regular use.

    I'm sure you guys have heard this but if your not confident a line won't hold, just take an old jacket or towel and put around the line. So if it does snap, it's taking all that force and momentum into the jacket instead of someone's windshield. It saved me a couple times

    • @ostacruiser

      Definitely, thanks for the comment

    • @johnserrano9689
      @johnserrano9689 Рік тому +3

      Yeah sometimes it doesn't work Man. I watched a line snap with 2 old school Carhartt jackets on it, snap and whip the metal fender of an older Massey Ferguson....scary as FCK. All of us guys have entire lifetime of experience so not even 1 city Boy was there, just a simple fact that no matter how good you, setup and equipment are you never know.
      I hate synthetic winch lines, I fckn love synthetic winch lines since that Day Man.
      I admit I said outright Infront of everyone this extra Carhartt should guarantee safe, but no it wasn't! Don't ever rely on that man some day at some point you will find out first hand it's only good to put the mind at ease.
      ALWAYS was diehard "real" metal winch line as I never had/ever heard of proper setup getting dangerous truthfully, but yes sooner or later it will. Synthetic is infact SAFER. I do still use extremely heavy steel lines for all my tractor work, and my Deere is big enough to generate enough force to cut me in half but the cable over match is/always has been the best available.
      Just be Smart, if you can't then only allow the dumbest FCK of your group anywhere near the danger zone and you're always safe 😎🇺🇸

    • @forrestcrabbe
      @forrestcrabbe Рік тому +2

      They make weighted winch cable blankets for this purpose. They work real good. 🤘y'all have a badass day🤘🍻🤘no limits🤘

    • @johnserrano9689
      @johnserrano9689 Рік тому +1

      @@forrestcrabbe you're right.
      Always since I was a young Buck we always swore by "real" steel winch lines, especially proper high quality American made lines specifically for winching.
      Then the synthetic winch lines started to take hold becoming more and more popular. They do not hold up to sunlight and all that tho so they have draw backs of their own.
      But after a legit lifetime of working and wheelin with steep lines I always equip with synthetic ONLY because they do not become Death Blades when under big loads. I believe they absolutely have energy stored in them under tension but without a steel hook or say a shackle attached they're just not as straight up deadly
      #1 rule regardless is ALWAYS think! Be intelligent. We all love to enjoy some brews, but be a man an don't get all FCKD up hammered then think you're super intelligent at the moment, as that's when a lot of accidents happen, then ones where when everyone escapes injury no one can understand how! The guys who've been there know exactly what I'm talking about 🤪
      However today's July 4th everyone, tear it up and enjoy! Give the ole lady one hell of a goodnight while you're at it👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    • @davido9208
      @davido9208 Рік тому

      @@johnserrano9689 it's all about the amount of potential energy created by the tention. If your pulling it tight with heavy tractors then you need a heavy line weight. Two jackets or four, still wouldn't have been enough. I do agree synthetic lines are far safer and easier to handle and steel cable can be very dangerous.
